O how you gotta love the big box.

So I'm ready to pull the trigger and put down 2 full kits of Epoxy-Coat after a lot of research. I was set to do a acid stain for cost and then discovered this thread. After searching here for a Atlanta store I call the closest one which is an hour away. I ask specifically for Epoxy Coat and they say yes we have it. I ask for Beige, yes we have it. I drive there with my 10% off coupon (helps when you have to drive an hour and burn that much gas) and guess what, no Beige. I specifically asked if they had beige and how many kits, they said 3 plus some in the back.

I called this store 3 times to get pricing, color availability and even asked for a stock number. They first tease me with a price of $120. I thought I was specific enough about wanting Epoxy-Coat. I got suspicious when talking with Christine @EC. I was asking her about how much clear kits where and I mentioned the 120, she said it should be about 199. That’s why I called back a third time to get a stock number. On the third call I found out they quoted the cheaper bands price. It is $194 a kit not $120.

I called a couple other stores on the list for Georgia but how can I trust them to have what they say they do. At this point I don't know if it's worth my time to pull this product through Lowes.

Christine what can we do?

Thanks
Sam

How do these flooring kits hold up to heat? Mainly torches and welding slag/sparks? Id love to do my garage floor in this stuff but worried that these items will damage the coating.

Also any Lowes in Detroit Michigan Area carring the Epoxy-Coat? Didnt see it on there website.

Thank,
Erik

Make sure to post up some pics. If you need help with anything, I will be oncall all weekend.

Went down very well, even by myself :) Probably would have been a little less hectic with some help, but I got it done. Total coating time was about 4 hours (not including cleaning, acid, taping, etc).

My biggest problem were the 25mph wind gusts that brought in leaves. I had to pick a few out, but no major issue.

The leaves in the pictures came in today after it was cured, not stuck in the coating.

What is your square footage? I have about 1120 (28'x40').
Was three kits right or were you getting nervous about running out towards the end? I hate that.
Was the color a good match across all three kits?

Mine is a 40x40, but I'm guessing I coated about 1550 or so by the time you factor in the 30ft trench drain and the few inches I stayed away from each skirt board. I probably wouldn't want to push it any thinner than that, but you may ask rugerlady what she thinks.

The colors blended fine. Per the instructions, I mixed all 3 "part A" first beforehand in one of the 6gal buckets.

I do get busy sometimes, sorry I was not available to speak with you. Call me at the office and I can figure out what we can do to fix things for you.
If you would have spoke with one of us before you went to the store, this would not have been an issue. Lowe's is not offering the Premium Kit package at this point.
Hello Christine,
I called and you asked me email you the order invoice which I did over a month ago but I still haven't heard back from you yet. Can you let me know what are you going to do to help me with the order I placed at Lowe's?
Thanks!
P.S I email you 10.10.2011 at 1.14 PM Pacific Time and my email to you was read at 1.51PM at the same day

You all have me convinced that I need to epoxy-coat my 2 1/2 car garage, but I have 2 questions first.

1. I measured 546 sq ft. Can one full Epoxy-Coat kit (500 sq ft) be stretched a tad to cover 546, or should I really man up and order a full kit and a half kit?

2. Two of the four cement slabs in my garage are badly cracked, and a moderate amount of cement has chipped away over the years resulting in some of the cracks being 2-3 inches wide in spots. Also, one of the slabs has sunk in the cracked corner right in the middle of the garage near the overhead door. The one slab corner sits about 3/4 of an inch lower than the adjacent slab. Will one of the morter patch kits from Epoxy-Coat fill larger cracks like I have, and what can I do about the 3/4" height difference in adjacent slabs? I am concerned about having an uneven floor that will stand out like a sore thumb after applying epoxy-coat. Should I have a contractor com out to professional level the cracked off portion of the slab that has sunk? I am planning on moving in the next 3 years, but I'd really like to refinish the garage floor and enjoy it in the meantime without dropping more than $1000 on it. Is there a solution? I can post some pix if a visual is needed.

here's the crack that runs across both slabs about 6 ft in from overhead door. The slab on left in front of the car (68 Mustang convertible in case you're wondering) is the one that has "sunk" from the crack outward to the overhead door especially up against the slab on the right at the overhead door threshhold.

IMG_4776.jpg

here's a shot of the other slab. Notice the cracks in the foreground.
IMG_4774.jpg

here's a closer shot of the magnitude of the cracks. That's a quarter lying there for size reference.
IMG_4769.jpg

and here's a closeup of the cracks at the juncture where the 2 slabs meet. Same quarter there for reference. The slab on the left begins to sink starting at the crack and running to the left towards the overhead door therehhold, but only near the cut line between the 2 slabs.
IMG_4770.jpg

and finally, here's the point where the 2 slabs are the most uneven. this is right at the overhead door threshhold and is the area I am most concerned about. How can I get these levelled before applying Epoxy-Coat?

We are located in SE Michigan. Mt. Clemens to be exact. You could stop by the showroom if you are close by. For 540 SF, you will need a full kit and a Touch Up kit. The full kit will cover up to 500 SF and the TU kit up to 60 SF.

Christine my Lowes lists a 3 gallon kit and a 1 &1/2 gallon kit . I am guessing the 3 gallon is what you are calling a " full kit " and will cover up to 500 SF.

While I am doing questions here . I havent been to the store as the only one that I think stocks it is on the other side of town . The prices have me confused online . 3 gallon kits start at $196.00 and go to $408.00 . The smaller kits start at $90.00 up to alomost $200.00 soooooooooo is there a differance in these kits or are they just highly confused on their website . Theres no mention of coverage or much other info on the website itself .

Is it any good? What makes it better than any other epoxy? Can it actually take vehicle traffic (most of the other brands can't)
Thanks

Of course it stands up to vehicle traffic. Our product is 100% solids. It is a cycloaliphatic epoxy. Please call me and we can discuss any specifics. You can also look at our data sheet on the website.

I just completed my Epoxy-Coat kit application for my two-car garage this weekend and couldn't be happier with how it came out. I am still waiting for the top coat to dry. There are some pretty good information on this board.

I was a little skeptical at first because of how my friend's garage came out when he did his. But he bought the Rustoleum kit and it wasn't even comparable...the epoxy-coat is so much thicker than his.

Thanks for the help Chrisitine! Pics to come when I finish my garage completely!

Hi, new member here. Can you please explain the pricing differences on Lowes website? Some of the full kits are listed at $196 or so, while others are over $400. I am not sure the difference between these kits as I have read that Lowes does not sell the clear kit with any of their kits? Let me know, looking to do a 3 car garage in the next few months and trying to figure this out. Thanks!

Is it to late for me? My original plans were to epoxy coat my floors before I even used them. That was almost 3 years ago. The concrete was poured in March 2009, and never sealed, but in that time, I have so many oil and grease spots that I don't know how well anything would even adhere to it. Still no epoxy-coat at my local Lowes though

Christine, I called your cell today and left a message. I'd really like to get my epoxy-coat ordered but still not sure what I need. From what I see on Lowes site, they have the 3 gal kit (no clear included) for $440.82 and $408.09 (no idea what the differences are though). It sure seems like I'm better off ordering the Epoxy-Coat Premium Full Floor Kit With Clear Coat directly from you for $495.95??

My floor came out pretty shiny without the clear coat. I'm not doing any auto work in the garage but using it for a woodshop so I thought I wouldn't need the extra thickness.
Christine gave me a great price and I didn't have to deal with trying to walk the guys at Lowe's through the order.

I was hoping to lay down my epoxy-coat this past weekend, but that didn't happen. This floor is harder to get clean than I expected.

What is the strongest degreaser I can use to try to get some of the oil spots up from a non sealed concrete floor? So far I've used a few gallons of full strength Purple Power, but water is still beading on the oil spots. I sure hope I didn't just waste $1000 on Epoxy-Coat that I can't use.

Someone suggested baking soda, let that sit, then vinegar poured on top of the baking soda, than scrub with a powder laundry detergent?

Is it okay to use Epoxy-Coat over a garage floor that was already coated with another type of Epoxy coating? I'm not 100% sure, but I think it was done with a 2-part epoxy made by 3M. It's still in good shape, but there are a few small areas where the bare concrete is visible because of chipping due to dropped tools/equipment. We want to recoat the entire thing again, but we're not sure if we can just coat over the old coat though...

Acetone worked well on mine. Pour it on, let it sit for a few seconds, then wipe it up. Wait for oil to migrate back to the surface and do it again. Once you're to the point where it takes a day or so for the underlying oil to make it to the surface, you're probably ready for the epoxy.

Have you considered a diamond grind to those spots or the whole floor?
