I put down a Lowes/Rustoleum cheap *** epoxy floor 5 years ago and would like to recoat it now. I went to the Q&A section, but wanted someone to confirm what exactly I need to do to prep my floor. Will I have to rent a buffer with a 80 grit pad on it? Then use a cleaning solution on it?

Thanks in advance

Call me at the office, I will have questions to ask you about the condition of the floor now. Typically you would rent a diamond grinder. This will remove any old coating and also profile the concrete for the new epoxy. You will not need to acid etch if you diamond grind.

I went to my Lowes last night and they had no idea what I was talking about with the clear coat. I showed them the 16958 product bucket and told them it was just the basecoat, and that I wanted the number and price of the clearcoat to go with it. So the lady started making phone calls, and no one knew what was going on. They were supposed to call me back, but so far, nothing.

Hi Christine
I'm in College Station (central Texas). Epoxy-Coat hasn't made it to the Lowe's closest to me, is there any location within driving distance?

Thanks, Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Unfortunately, we have no stores in Texas right now. I do have some in OK and LA. Call me at the office and I will see what I can do to with what you need to order.

Is this garage floor coating strong enough to withstand jacks, jackstands, engine hoists, etc? My garage is a working garage and far from a storage area.

Edit: Found it on post 158. Hmm... that's a 5 hour trip for me here in Richmond, time to search for stores in northern NC.

"It's getting hard to search through this thread to make sure no location is asked twice, but any stores around central VA carrying Epoxy-coat?"

Wow... I am in some kind of black hole here. Every store in NC and VA is 4.5-5.5 hours away.

I don't think my wife would appreciate me being gone for 10 hours even to save $200...

Thank you for the quick response though rugerlady!

Ok, just read through all 538 posts. Wow, what a history over the last 2 years and Lowe's still hasn't gotten up off their butts and pushed this product out?

I've got your information printed Christine and I am hoping to sneak out of the office tomorrow and get to Lowe's to place a special order. I would love to be able to move from painting right into the floor so I can get the harley back into the mancave.

Hey, Christine......sent an email from my phone tonight(technosaur here, so not sure it went through!), but was at my local Lowes to pick up 4 kits, but they were all received at said Lowes in Feb of 2011. So, they are beyond the 1 year shelf life....are they still useable, if I have the paint dept give the color a good shake? What is EC doing as far as warranty coverage for old product at Lowes?

Already have a grinder rented for Thu/Fri, so was hoping to put the epoxy down this weekend.......HELP!!!! LOL.

Thanks!

Ordered my stuff at Lowes today. Thanks Christine for helping the employees at lowes. They (3 of them) were just so happy I was there occupying all of them trying to place the order, ha.

Full kit, grey std color was $267.79. (w/ 10% off coupon came to $241)

Extra flakes were $6.36/ea. I ordered an additional 10 lbs, I want to go heavy on the vinyl flake. (w/ 10% off coupon came to $57)

Ordered the clear topcoat seperately through epoxy-coat.com. Free shipping when I mentioned G-J member, cool ($35 value)

The guy at lowes said their computer order system had it getting to my store for me to pickup by May 3rd ?

Oh, and I was not charged any sort of shipping in addition for the special order at lowes.

thanks!

Hi Christine,
just jumping on this thread as its a related question:

I was looking at Lowes online for the Epoxy-Coat and got a bit confused by the offerings... (92078 zip)
Three were ~52 line items. roughly divided between 3 ga, 1.5 ga and quart kits. Lowes calls them interior high gloss paint kits?

I think the 3ga kit is the same as your full sized kit, but wondering why Lowes has 3 different prices (descriptions are all the same). range is $440-$340. I think some of the sku's are different colors (nothing in the description), but is there anything else?

What is the difference between Lowes $440 3 ga kit vs your web price of $285?

Thanks!

It should not take that long for your kit to arrive. Call me and I can track it for you and tell when it is being delivered.

Lowe's is correcting the pricing as we speak. The only kits that should be more expensive are the 2 red colors. If you want to place a special order, have the store call me while your there and I will walk them through the correct pricing and procedure.
Thanks

My stuff is in at lowes, and the seperately ordered clear coat will arrive to my home tomorrow.

Ordered spiked shoes from trowell trade ebay store $19.

Got a 4" diamond cup wheel from harbor freight to use with my angle grinder for edges, short stem walls, and corners. Got a shroud for that on amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005EP1NWA/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Local rental place has the edco sec-1.5l (single head) diamnond grind with decent dymasert blades.

Now to the planning for this, I have roughly 400 sqft, all flat (no seams) I plan on doing this myself. Gameplan for application is what I am unsure about.

Should I:

A: Divide the floor into 4 'boxes' or 100sqft sections and do them in succession. i.e. - Make 4 batches. Box #1: Spread/squeegie, then backroll, broadcast flakes with spike shoes, then repeat.

B: Mix entire kit - one big batch - mix it all up, dump-out evenly around entire floor, squeegie, backroll, then flake?

The video says to only mix as much as you can apply in 10 mins, and it also says to backroll sections a 2nd time 10 mins after the first, then apply flake to that section

Whats the availability of this stuff in the Chicagoland area? More specifically the western suburbs near Naperville, Bolingbrook, Plainfield etc etc (60585). I went through several pages and was surprised to see no one asked about the Chicago area.
I have a new construction home with a 3 car garage thats about 21.5' deep and 30' wide. What amount would I likely need to use for my 3 car garage?
Also, the slabs are about 2.5 months old is it ok to epoxy them at this time? And can I get away with only using concrete etch instead of grinding the floor away since its brand new? This is what I did on my previous home and never had an issue with anything.

Thanks,.
James

Hi James,
I will list the Illinois stores below. You will need about 1 1/2 kits for your project. The epoxy can go on the concrete after it has cured for at least 30 days. As long as there is no sealer on the concrete you can use the acid that comes with the kit to prep your concrete. Please call me at the office if you have more questions. Thanks

Thanks and not sure if you forgot to list which locations carry it near me or you were going to post it later. The Lowes closest to my house did not have it and never heard of the product. There are Lowes stores everywhere around here though so maybe another one has it?

1193 LOWE'S OF E. PEORIA, IL
80 LOWE'S OF CHAMPAIGN, IL
2529 LOWE'S OF ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL

Well im about ready to go pick up 2 kits to do my 3 car garage. A lowes store within 45 minutes stocks the taupe kits. Only thing is im super confused on pricing.

So they have a 3 gallon kit listed at $340 and then 3 gallon kits listed at $194. Both say they cover exactly the same coverage and appear to include all the same stuff (atleast in the picture). I called the one store and he said its infact $194 for the full 3 gallon kit they stock. So thats what im gonna go buy (two of them). And the epoxy coat website has the same kit for $284! These prices have me scratching my head, but all I know is im gonna go with the $194 dollar one from Lowe's.

So to sum it up I see what appears to be the same exact 500sq ft full kit available for three different prices:
Lowe's - $340
Lowe's - $194
Epoxy-Coat site - $284

?!?

Thanks for any clarification.

Lowes stores that stock charge about 194.00
Lowes special orders pricing is still being corrected (it should be about 249.95)
Our standard pricing is 284.95

It is for the exact same kit. Lowes is charging for the shipping on special orders, that why their is a different price.
