I think it's funny he was soooooooo against the topcoat being suggested. Now EpoxyCoat sells it as an option LOL.

We still do not find it necessary to apply a topcoat in most cases. Nice first post by the way.

Thanks.

When do you find a topcoat necessary vs not? I would think that it is always a better option. However, I am not sure the factors around necessity.

It's been about six years. I think fuzzy may have moved on.

It's too bad, I would of loved to hear from him 7 years later to see how his floor is holding up since I'll be doing mine this spring.
So many different products to choose from and so many different companies.
My floor is 2,700 sq ft so I want to be sure I choose the right one.

Adding on to this thread since it seems like the longest.

I just did my second floor yesterday, after learning some lessons the first time in '06 http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=71413&postcount=19

This time the floor came out much better, and I think there several reasons:

1) I mixed the A & B in much bigger batches. The reality is you can work with this stuff pretty quickly, and when you blend an entire kit at once, it mixes very well and gives you more to work with once you dump it on the surface.
2) When you do get bubbles, which I did on the one small batch I mixed, the leaf blower trick (I used the shopVac ) works pretty well. Not perfect but better than nothing. Best to avoid bubbles with big batches.
3) You've gotta have several large plastic spatulas handy. Otherwise too much waste.

PS: for those looking to make a decision on flooring, my first application is now 9 years old, holding up incredibly well. Zero lifting, hasn't worn through anywhere. The only damage is chips when something heavy and sharp falls.

About the pull the trigger in a 900 sqft garage. Looks like this may be my choice. Any updates out there?
