Epoxy in 2 Applications

I am thinking about using epoxy in my basement shop. The problem is it would be difficult to move all of the machines out. Is it possible to do half, move everything over to the other side, and then do the other half? Or is that going to create problems? I don’t really have any natural seems to stop on.

Thanks!

It can be done, but not without some sort of visible definition between the two sides. Coatings just don't blend together like paint does. If you are applying color flakes they will help to camouflage the two sides a bit better, but it will still be noticeable.

A full flake coverage would be easier to hide the difference. Of course this would be the more expensive option because it will require commercial quality high solids product. Do 1/2 the floor and scrape the excess flakes, but do not clear coat yet. Move your equipment over as gentle as you can and then do the other side the same way. It should be much harder to tell where the two halves meet. Clear coat the second side first, let it cure for 5 or 6 days, move your equipment over and then clear coat the other side.

I appreciate the reply. That’s what I was afraid of. I guess I’ll have to figure out a way to clear it out.

It's almost always a bad idea and if there are no expansion joints to stop at its a worse idea. From blending to color variation you are asking for issues

Agree with above, it is difficult to hide the start/stop unless you go with a full fleck broadcast, those are very forgiving (but more expensive).

We have seen people cut in a small expansion joint in the middle and use that as the delineation point.
