Epoxy ?

Does the application of an epoxy covering require that it be done all at the same time or can you feather a stopping point and continue at that point later?

The reason I ask is because I'm planning to do my shop floor soon. I have a lot of equipment and other things on my shop floor with no place to really move them to. I am hoping that I can move everything to one side, epoxy the other side, let it harden, then move everything to that side and finish the remaining side. Is this possible?

It is ok to do. However, you will see your start and stop point.

You know, something else might work. Japanese had a great 5S system of tidying and organizing. Everything had to have a place and it should be put back there, that way there was no lost time looking of which you have done a good job.

However they went further in an effort to clean easily. They eliminated anything leaning vertically and anything resting on the floor so they could sweep the floor anytime. What they would have done in your garage is to build racks on the walls 8 inches above the floor to rest stuff on instead of allowing it to rest directly on the floor. If you got most of your items up you could coat the whole floor. Probably too much stuff, but it is a good system to keep in mind. Like your workshop.

Use your center island as the halfway point. From the lolly column to the work bench against the back wall could be the line. It's out of the way and your guests won't see it unless they walk clear around. As Edger mentioned you could cut a shallow joint in the floor for added effect.

Thank you for the suggestions. I will come with a plan and more than likely will be contacting you for a game plan and needed products.

Right now I am conducting the plastic test on the concrete to see exactly how much the concrete is actually wicking moisture up through it. Just wondering if this will be an accurate test as the wicking might be more prevalent during the cooler months. Is this line of thinking valid?

Spot on Ron.
If you suspect it and you will use our products, use the Standard epoxy system.
It's less money and less risk of issues.

The Spring is when the issues are most prevalent.

Just curious, did you consider tile? I don't want to take anything away from Legacy, but tile could be a good option especially since you can only do it in sections.

just saw cut a line....snap a chalk line, get a 4 inch hand grinder with a diamond blade and cut away till your heart is content

I have been considering tile as an option. Just haven't given that route any real thought yet as I'm still weighing all the info supplied here on the epoxy route. After digesting the epoxy info, I will then start on the tile option.

Anybody that has gone the tile route, please don't hesitate to add your comments and/or photos.
