My Pratt Reads were the same way. While it looks bad, it does not deter from the tools function.

Lol, yep. However, I don't think the term "ignorance" applies.

I have Gray scrapers that are pressed in all the way. This gap between the handle an the shank is something I've never come across before.

Like most people here, If I'm paying money for a product, I want a product in perfect condition.

I wish Jori the best! But I need to pass this time, funds are low, and I ended up with some quality control issues on my Wilde stuff.
Along with the poorly ground chisels I had mentioned from the last buy, I recently went to use the bent needle nose pliers, and the tips don’t even close together.

I bought a bunch of Wilde punches recently from HE and they were all well made with no problems.

Why not press them in all the way? Why drill them so deep then? It's looks unprofessional.

Not bashing you personally, but some people here spend too much time looking at their tools trying to find issues that aren't even really defects.

From looking at your pics, the issue is so small I wouldn't even consider it an "issue." They look pretty good to me.

The examples posted in this thread may lead some people to believe that Wilde has quality problems, which is definitely not the case, from my experience. I guess that just shows the internet amplification effect. Often the only people who post are people who complain.

You have to remember that these tools are bargain priced for USA made tools. The quality of my purchases has been above what I'd expect at this price point.

Anyway, here are my recent purchases:
-Wilde lock ring pliers. These are awesome for the $11 I paid. These same pliers have been rebranded by truck brands.

-A bunch of chisels and a couple punches. They look good to me and have been working great.

-The awesome Wilde pry bars.

-Wilde flush joint pliers. A good, basic plier with a unique design that's sold at a good price.

Looking at your picts I might have also come to the conclusion that they might not have been pressed in to where they were supposed to be. Looking at Bull's answer though I got to thinking about other clear handle tools like screwdrivers. I have only a couple examples here in my office, I have a Craftsman 41589 1/8" Clear handle and the hole is drilled 5/16" passed where it is pressed in. I also have a Sentry Y102 that is drilled maybe a little over 1/16" passed where it is pressed.

Looking at it the Sentry does look a lot nicer and "professional" but you know I never really paid attention to the Craftsman until I saw your post, it just did the job for me. Of course the Craftsman handle is clear and red so it hides it a little and your handles are bigger so its far more noticeable.

Personally though for the cost, if the consensus is that they are strong, I could live with the blemish. Now that you have me thinking about it though I am going to try to remember to look more closely at some other "clear" screwdrivers that I have at home. I know I have a couple Klein and a couple SK with a transparent green handle. Its interesting to think that I have never seen that before even though it looks like it could be a common practice with brands like Craftsman.

I'll second the Wilde pliers. I bought both the 6" and the 8" flush joint pliers, and they seemed of very nice quality to me. I'd purchase more Wilde in the future. Also, the Craftsman pry bars are made by Wilde.

I would like to know this too. I would be willing to preorder if I had to. There are a few larger items I am interested in. A large metric combo wrench set being one of them. I am also looking for some deep socket sets.

Western Auto used to be an auto parts chain that began here in Kansas City MO
They were eventually bought by SEARS and went under. Saw this punch and chisel set and just had to buy one.

A trip down Memory Lane this morning! Couple Wilde Screwdrivers, the Western Auto Punch Set (random US Punches and chisels) and a Wilde Punch and chisel set, and a set of Channelock Welpers! Number 360 if you want a set!
