Quick update from the Ernst side: Wrench Pros will be available in blue shortly. It sounds like other colors (at least Hiviz and Green, which were specifically mentioned) will be here in April.

Maybe we can get the thread title updated to refer to Ernst and not just Tekton?

I have been holding off until they have hi-viz. Where was this info from? Hope it releases sooner.

I called Ernst today inquiring about bright green wrench pro racks
they said they will have new colors out shortly ( I figure a couple months )

The receptionist didn’t say what colors but took my e mail for notification !

I feel like it’s almost Christmas waiting to see what colors they come out with…. I’m all excited - Yahooo!

Anyone have experience with the magnetic version? Worth it over the non-magnetic?

I bought the magnet version and couldn't be happier. The magnets are pretty strong, it's enough to leave an impression in my drawer liner without holding a wrench. If I ever need more. I'm going magnetic.

Blue has been available for a little while already.

I saw that they were available on Amazon for a short period and then went out of stock. Wasn't sure if they were actually in stock at that time or if there was an error. Thanks for confirming.

How do you like them so far?

Me too. Everything I have is Hiviz and blue. The post that I am referring to is/was on Instagram. I sent an inquiry email specifically about Hiviz in early January and was told "3-4 months".

I use black for SAE and blue for metric. I think they are the nicest modular wrench holders. I looked at the Toolbox Widgets and didn't like how they looked without the label inserts. They also hold wrenches vertical. The Ernest say they hold 1 1/2 or 38mm but probably didn't have Wright in mind with their thick beams. I have just enough clearance in my 2 3/8 depth drawer for my 32mm Wright wrench. The 32mm Gearwrench has no such issue. I like being able to read the wrench stamping.

My minor quips with Ernest products are the stickers could be higher quality and their colour availability across their lines. I have the bit buddy and plier rack in HI-VIS as they weren't available in blue.

Cleaned up the cart drawer a bit......some observations:
1. Order many extra label sheets
2. I labeled both ends of my double end flares, hence the need for extra labels!
3. 24mm was the limit for the wrench heads in my 2" SO drawers.

Overall pretty happy, biggest thing for me was no longer having to pull wrenches out of holders, it's nice to just pull and drop them, especially for the flare and thin end Geodores that I use for brakes.

Tekton might be a bit more but then the rewards add up pretty quickly. I bought the 80 piece set and probably will buy another 40 to finish it off. Went together quickly. I don’t personally feel like it needs a magnet. Once you put the wrenches on it, it weighs a couple pounds. I don’t slam my drawers shut so it’s works fine for me. I also used them for my screwdrivers.

The comments about prices are amusing. I guess everyone has their own perception of value. My workshop is my hobby so I put whatever I want into it that makes me happy. There is no cost- benefit analysis. All the tools I buy for home pale in comparison to what I buy for the business.

How thick is the base of the organizer? Meaning how far off the drawer base does the wrench sit?

My Gray Canada 32mm wrench if vertical will fit in my 2 3/8” drawer. But if the organizer adds 1/4” there’s no way it will.

Would be nice if Ernst/Tekton add an angled modular piece to the set to accommodate for larger wrench sizes.

With the bigger wrenches, the open end sits on the drawer bottom. If the holder is near the open end, the box end will also touch the drawer. If the holder is nearer to the box end, the wrench sits level. Here is how a 32mm Wright and Gearwrench sit in the holder. The Gearwrench sits level no matter what since both ends are the same size.

Apparently, they did a limited release of green for St. Patrick's Day. I went to check stock after seeing the Instagram post but they had already sold out.

The blue magnetic ones that I ordered last week finally did arrive. They freed up enough space and fit even the larger wrenches without issue. I'll likely put some of the larger wrenches in my ancillary box, but that will not happen for some time. I am eagerly awaiting the Hiviz ones to come in stock so I can organize things properly.IMG_8537.jpg

I bought 40 slots each of the magnetic ones in red and black to try and I'm sold. They work so much better than the cheap wrench rails I had and than the older Ernst wrench rails that I've never been happy with. The magnets are strong and keep the organizer where you want it. I'm a happy guy.

I'm going to buy probably about 160 more for wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. I've been searching for a good toolbox organizer for a long time. I was set on toolbox widget but they're never in stock in Canada. I honestly think these are much better.

Where are you purchasing the magnetic version in Canada?

I see the Tekton ones on Amazon.ca, but the Ernst magnetic version ship from the states and are significantly more expensive

I bought the Ernst Magnetic version on Amazon.ca. You have to do some looking for the best price. No, they're not cheap. No good toolbox organization is, so I just bit the bullet.

The prices have gone up since I purchased. This is the best price I found for black: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0C66GFXN5?tag=atomicindus04-20

This is the best I found for red:

I have Prime, so that might make a difference in shipping costs.

Pennies on the dollar if you know someone with a 3D printer. Plus you can do cool custom things like print the size labels, or "squish" the designs so the holders for smaller wrench sizes are narrower, allowing smaller wrenches to be closer together.

Or instead of ripping off a company's design to save a few bucks, just buy them.

Thinking you're saving anything by spending the time, power, and filament to print 250+ wrench holders (roughly what I have) is pretty funny.

Saving money is not the primary objective. I mentioned just a couple examples of the the possible improvements/optimizations in my post, but there are many more.

No, at the scale of 250 wrench organizers, it likely does not pay to make them yourself, but there are a lot of people on this forum who will buy tools and parts and spend an inordinate amount of time to fix or make something that could be done more quickly and cheaply by someone else. But that's not why they do it. They do it because it brings them joy to think, and to create, and to tinker. And that sentiment is pervasive throughout the DIY and Maker culture that surrounds this the world of 3D printing and this forum alike.

People who 3d print things as a hobby are not cutting into the profits of companies that manufacture commercial items for mass market consumption any more than some person changing their own oil in their garage is cutting into the pfofit made by auto dealerships and quick lube joints. And the notion that someone 3D printing something for their own use is "ripping off" a major manufacturer of similar products is laughable. I suppose you only support 3D printing original designs across the board?

Someone asked me where I got my organizers on a thread about those specific organizers, and for some reason you felt the need to reply to me that I should 3D print them then didn't like the response. That's almost predictable.

Hey look, I'm really sorry this seems to have hit you so hard. I responded to you because your post was the last one (thus bumping it to the top of the front page). You just talked about buying a **** ton of these, so obviously I was not suggesting that you 3d print them.

It was just an option in a thread full of people discussing these, the toolbox widget versions, the cost, and the various advantages and shortcomings. I didn't think it was too out of line, but I will refrain from further discussion of non-ernst/tekton organizers. No hard feelings.

Ha easy dude
These aren't a new concept and nobody is "ripping off" anybody with this design

If somebody wants to take the time and effort to design their own custom tool holders (and maybe have fun while saving a few bucks)
good on them

These are neat, and if I was starting to organize today, I'd consider them. But it's clear when looking at the pics above that they should've made these in at least two sizes, if not three- that could still fit together. Up to ~19mm conventional wrench length doesn't need the super high tab; above that size needs to have a slightly wider wrench beam opening with the high design. The third option could be narrower for stubby and tiny wrenches so you can actually grab one end.

Great points. I am 3D printing smaller organizers for the midget wrenches.

These do fit the larger wrenches well. If you go back a few posts, I paired down what I kept in the drawer. Long story short, I had to make some room for the ratcheting wrenches that I have on the way.
