The Camino is a '69 and it is nothing more than boxes and boxes of parts, the frame and the body are the only parts not up in the loft.

The Camino is not mine, it's Trevor's. He bought it from the lady down the street when he was 8 years old with his own money. He took it all apart and boxed it up. He swears it will be his next project.

And of course the thing you DIDN'T give away, but transported 900 miles will be in that tub that you didn't look in until AFTER making the 40 minute round trip to HD/Lowes to buy another one!!

You are is right on that.

I don't envy your move Mac. I only moved about 8 miles and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Moving big pieces of equipment flat *****. I can't imagine moving across country.

Mike, my move is no different from your 8 mile move. Load the truck, drive the truck to the new location, and unload the truck. My drive is just a little bit longer than yours.

I got up at 4am this morning and headed to the airport. The plow trucks were out salting the roads for some kind of weather event that was supposed to happen later in the morning. At 8am I was in Orlando.

I park my truck in an off site parking lot and they have a shuttle bus that takes you to and from the airport. I call them as soon as I get off the plane and give them my truck claim # and the bus is waiting by the time I get to the door. It's a 5 minute drive from the airport to the parking lot and when we get there my truck is not waiting for me as usual. I go in the office and they tell me that my truck won't start. They drive me out to my truck and it turns over just fine only it won't start. i check all the fuses and they are good. I open the bleeder on the fuel filter and hit the priming pump and get a bunch of air. I prime it until I get no more air and the truck starts right up and runs fine. I guess its time to rebuild or replace the filter head and priming pump.

I take the scenic route home and make it back to the Grove at lunchtime. They got a lot of work done on the house this past week and I'm almost certain that the house will be done by the first of the year.

Tomorrow it's back to the day job and then see what I can get done on the shop after work under the lights for the next 2 weeks.

Much better to discover you need to rebuild the filter head in Florida than if you were stuck in that white stuff fighting it. Enjoying the progress and following along but haven't really said much.

Somewhere in my very angry state of mind I remembered that the D-Max filter head was prone to air leakage somewhere after the 200K mark. I bled the filter head and was on my way

Much better to discover you need to rebuild the filter head in Florida than if you were stuck in that white stuff fighting it. Enjoying the progress and following along but haven't really said much.

JB, the truck didn't start this morning and I had to bleed it to get it running. I have seen aftermarket filter heads on amazon but they don't get good reviews as the filter threads are problematic. I called the local GM dealer this morning and they had a new filter head for $115 or a filter kit for $139. The kit came with a new filter head AND filter. The D-Max filter is almost $50 no matter where you go so I got the filter kit. While installing the new filter I saw that I will be needing new fuel hoses, I just didn't have the time to do all of that today.

When the house and shop are done, the first thing i need to do is give the truck some love. JB, I'll have to have you come down here and show me how to get the body off a GM truck in 20 minutes like you do. Then I can do everything I need to get done on the truck so much easier.

Laura was here last week and we spent most of the week taking care of things on the house build. We are getting down to the final things as it looks like the house will be finished before the first of January. As it stands right now we are planning to move the household to the Grove on January 15th.

Here's the update not the shop. Our PM for the house Jerry, set me up with his step-son, Gustavo to help with the shop roof on the weekends. Gustavo is Columbian and his English is on par with my Spanish but we got along great and he is a sharp guy and easily saw what needed to be done with little communicton required.

We managed to get 1/3 of the roof done in one day. Tomorrow we should get more done as we have a system established.

Mac, roof panels look good, looks like the framing is square.
Must of been the gut in the tape method worked out good!!

Gustavo and I kicked *** today. Last week we got 20' of roof installed on the overhang with no insulation. Today we got 30' of roof installed WITH insulation.

I have 10 more feet of roof to install and I had Gustavo help me get all of the roof panels up on the roof before he left today. I should be able to get the rest of the roof installed by myself tomorrow.

In past life I lived in Puerto Rico and worked as an inspector for the Federal Government. When I showed up in the dry dock, it usually cost the ship owner money and I have been called just about every derogatory term in Spanish, I'm used to it. Sometimes the more derogatory the term, the more costly for the ship owner. Its amazing what a piece of soapstone can do on a vessel when you write "Crop and Renew". It didn't take long for word to get out that I had "ears" and they had to talk about me behind my back.

I got all but the last 2 roof panels installed today. I also got half or the ridge cap installed.

I'm going to have cut up some scrap insulation to fill the last 6" gap. I lost the first roll of 4' insulation I installed to a rainstorm that was not in the forecast.
I should have the last 2 panels and the rest of the ridge done tomorrow.

External trim and 2 roll up doors are all that's left to finish the exterior of the shop.

'96-'98 when I retried for the first time.

So today was septic system day at the Grove.

I had called many septic contractors and got several bids. The lowest bidder never returned any of my calls. The highest bidder called me every day wanting to know when he could start. All of the other bidders were months out on when they could start.

I never spoke to or met the contractor I hired. We did all of our communicating via text message. He didn't want any deposit up front and said that I should pay him in full upon final inspection.

Well they showed up at 7:00am this morning and went right to work. By lunchtime the 1060 gallon septic tank was in the ground, as well as the 500 gallon dosing tank and pump. After lunch the drain field was excavated and 8 loads of sand were brought in, leveled, and the drain field chambers were installed. Open pit inspection is scheduled for tomorrow. Daniel and Wade are top shelf craftsmen and were a pleasure to work with.

I got the last 2 roof panels up on the shop roof, installed most of the ridge cap that was remaining and called it a day.

somewhere between everything else I did today, Jerry and I unpacked and installed the washer/dryer, kitchen range, and refrigerator. We had to drive 15 miles to my storage unit to get the refrigerator and load it in my truck. Two 60+ year old men loading a big *** 36" refrigerator in a full size 4x4 truck, my back is in bad shape tonight. A few adult beverages and an evening dose of Alieve are just scratching the surface.

I like to take a two-day break after those workouts. Confine yourself to lifting your head enough to see your navel. If that causes pain, find a mirror.

Wow septic systems sure have changed since the early 2000’s. Then it was a pipe to concrete tank to 4” perforated pipes laid in rock drain field.

It has to be a great feeling to have roof completed. With that big frig, does that mean we won’t use that small cooler for our next visit. Lol.

I have never seen a septic like that. Around here they are all concrete. We have a plant that makes the concrete tanks 4 miles away. How does the leach field work?
