Crkt m16-01kz here. One hand opening was a requirement for me when I was working with combines. The lock system is very solid and easy to use once you play with it for a while.

Also carry a Gerber diesel multi-tool. The one hand flick opening pliers come in handy.

I purchased the drop point one. Even at $12, I don't feel like they are under priced. It looks more impressive then it is, which I feel like most Milwaukee hand tools are. They all look promising but just under deliver.

It was dull and cheap feeling. When I sharpened it, the edge just folds over. It will save me abusing a nice knife but not much else. But for $12, not sure what I was expecting.

I used to carry a Kershaw, then the Leatherman Charge TTi that has a shockingly effective saw and a SV30 blade. Now I carry the Crunch with much less of a blade, but it's plenty for an EDC.02db8b9b6f7a0cc8a3e22c322583cdd2.jpg

If I'm going to the scrapyard or something I'll throw my Leatherman Wave in my pocket, but mostly I carry a Victorinox Super Tinker. Leatherman is too heavy to always have on me.

My everyday carry is a Spyderco Endura with a ZDP 189 blade and either a Leatherman Surge or Victorinox Champ, depending on how much weight I want to pack besides my stomach. Most of the time it's the Victorinox Champ and Spyderco.

Byrd Cara Cara2, or Spyderco Resilience depending on where I'm headed. The city has different regulations on what you can carry vs. some of the surrounding areas.

leatherman wave, or leatherman surge.. just spend the money and get it over with, you will never regret it.. before that i carried 2 different Milwaukee Knives, and the Fastback utility knifes before that.. before this thread, ive never read of anyone complaining about them, - as they are often regarded as some of the best you can buy for the money.. i used mine, they worked great for me.. you can either buy a $100 knife and worry about what happens to it, or buy a good $15 - $30 model like the Milwaukee's and sharpen it once in a while with a $10 knife sharpener..

but IMO - if you willing to spend $100 - youd be crazy not to get a leatherman instead.

CRKT My Tighe assisted folder or SOG Trident if the thicker profile won't bother me in the pants I'm wearing that day.

I also have a few Case knives I really like but are just a little small for my preferences for the very demanding task of tactical letter opener.

Lately I've been carrying the Buck 327 Special Edition. Found that knife out front of my old rental house, nobody ever claimed it. Before that I had a Kershaw that performed quite nicely, I just prefer the pocket clip on the Buck lately. The Kershaw is a much heavier knife.

I wasn't complaining about the Milwaukee, just underwhelmed. Like most of their hand tools, they look awesome but I just don't end up liking them. Take their adjustable pliers for example, they look great; and then you use them and realize for a couple dollars more you could buy Channellock. Personal preference I suppose. For $12 you get an acceptable knife.

I do have a Wave, which I like for camping and hunting. For work I have a Crunch, and I agree they are great.

ill agree, their hand tools aren't "the best".. the new models of hand tools with the red molded grips are much better though than the red/black handled models they had. . i have alot of them that i bought to try out. i think im close to owning most of Milwaukee's hand tools (and power tools). just bought their new crimpers over the Kliens just to have the matching set.. they're good for home use and such, which is all i use them for.. Knipex is what i bought for work, but the Milwaukee's made a big step up with the newer hand tool line. i dont regard channellock as a big upgrade from Milwaukee's newer stuff, i have their basic electrician stuff too, and alot of other brands. i went on a spree and just bought everyone's to compare against each other.

ANYWAY - i wasnt trying to discount your opinion. just stating alot of guys like them. the fastback utility knife is probably one of the best on the market. after all, the fastback knives are under $20 if you can live w/o the spring assist. i dont think anyone will say they are the worlds "best" knives, but for the $$ they are hard to beat as tool for pure utility. IMO- its worth it just for the belt clip and almost indestructible handles. i used a hand held sharpener to keep the edge on them. to be honest i didnt carry each one long enough (year or so) to give them a long term test. i have a bad habbit of having to buy everything i see and try things out for myself. since i started carrying my Leatherman Wave, ive seen no reason to upgrade other than to get a model with the replaceable cutters like the newer model Surge - which is why the Surge in on my Amazon Wishlist for Christmas..

I carry the Craftsman 2 1/4" utility knife at work. It's light and doesn't bang around in my cargo pant pocket. Holds a full size blade and I've been using for over a year with no issues. For only $5 I picked up a back up as well.
