Work- Milwaukee fastback folding utility knife. Since I cut a lot of cardboard, tape, plastic strapping, plastic packaging, and sometimes skin some wires the utility knife works very very well for that...I feel that the utility blade is a better choice for my work than a conventional knife.

For non work carry I have a Benchmade Adamas folder. It's a nice big hefty knife and I like it a lot.

I've tried multitools in the past and have about three at home but I just don't care for them. I'm never far from at the very least a basic set of real tools anyway.

Southern Grind bad monkey...

This one has been in my pocket for 2 or 3 years now. Love it.

Gerber EZ Out. USA. Not sure if they are still made, I never see them in stores anymore.

Usually my Benchmade 553SBK. I carried it to war twice, so it earned a spot in my pocket. Sometimes I'll carry my Victorinox Soldier when I'm working around the house.

For years it was always CASE with 3 stainless steel blades. Then I broke my right wrist, so I now have a hard time sharpening my CASE. I have limited movement in my right wrist and just can't get them sharp. Left is fine, but can't get it right. I now use a Craftsman utility knife, blade gets dull, change the blade. For work, Leatherman Wingman, used mostly for the tools, not much for the blade, can't sharpen it.

Case Sod Buster Jr in my pocket, Spyderco HoneyBee on my keys. I keep an old Craftsman branded Leatherman, a CountyComm EDC rescue and a Victorinox swiss army in my truck. A Gerber Flik in my tackle bag in the bed of the truck. Never too far from a knife.

Right now I'm carrying a Kershaw 1990 Brawler Folding SpeedSafe Knife. I'm on my second one of these. I generally give a couple of knives a year to the TSA so I don't like to carry anything too expensive and these seem to strike a nice balance between quality and cost.

For the last year it has been a Chris Reeve Sebenza Insingo. I thought I lost my mind when I ordered it but it has been worth every penny. Also, I am not a collector, this thing sees use on a daily basis.

Kershaw Chive. I work in an office, so the fact it can fit in a watch pocket & still cut almost anything you'd need cut in most "EDC" scenarios is nice.

I carry a Case electrician's knife everyday. I also have my grandpas Barlow which i carry around on sundays. I have another case knife with a bird hook that surprisingly comes in handy for a lot of things.

I like the semi customs but do not like the $600-$900 price tags. These reate are all titanium with crucible steel blades and kvt bearings. $250-$300 all day long.

+1 for Benchmade 'Mini Griptilian'.

I really like the Axis locks feel, and the one-headed fold it enables. They (Benchmade customer service) sent me a free 'low carry' clip just for asking. The blade length keeps it legal here in SF (Under 3"). Nicest knife I have ever owned.

I used to carry a Kershaw, then the Leatherman Charge TTi that has a shockingly effective saw and a SV30 blade. Now I carry the Crunch with much less of a blade, but it's plenty for an EDC.02db8b9b6f7a0cc8a3e22c322583cdd2.jpg

I have had a charge tti for years. I use the pocket clip, once you wear it for a day or two you forget it's in your pocket. I hear guys complain about weight all the time. I'll let them carry my leatherman and after a few hours they change their mind about the weight. Seriously weight is a non issue especially considering what you have available all the time. You are spot on about the saw, I use it daily to cut branches at work and it will cut through them in seconds. There have been times where I cut a branch that's double the length of the blade. Just cut from each side. The saw still cuts as good as day one even after years of abuse.

on my belt, benchmade auto stryker
opplanet-benchmade-stryker-black-ser-blade-black-handle-9101sbk-main.jpg

and around my neck, spyderco dog tag knife

That dog tag blade is pretty cool.

Interestingly understated.

Mostly a Leek, some times an Old Timer trapper. Usually combined with a Gerber EAB in the other pocket.

I guess I never got the expensive knife thing. I car a Gerber eab. Cheap, small, and easy to sharpen. By sharpen I mean install a new blade. I do use Irwin or Lennox blades, they last longer than cheapies.

skeletool. not used every day, but carried with me almost every day. i have one in my mini toolkit that i carry to work (in one of those maxpedition pocket organizers/pouches). i chose to have the skeletool, because they offer compact package of pliers that are robust enough to do little harder prying, needlenosed enough to do delicate things, lightweight package that has a one hand opening knife and screwdriver bits. i used to have victorinox spirit there before (and bahco cheapo before that) but decided few things:

1. spirit is a bit too nice/pretty, and expensive to have there. if it would get stolen or abused i would feel sad.
2. dont really need all the other tools that are in a bigger multitool. the pliers are my main need here, and to have a backup knife.
3. i do like to save weight. and skele has good pliers for its weight.
4. i do like one hand opening blade. and partial serrations in the blade do come handy.

and because of the oho-blade i have the skeletool there instead of the juice s2. i love juice line for their compactness but i do prefer to be able to open the blade with one hand if needed. for scissor works and such i have either swissarmy knife or leatherman squirt there too.

Spyderco Delica 4 or Benchmade Mini Griptilian are the knives I carry most the time, parking whichever one suits my fancy in my pocket. Sometimes I'll carry my Buck Bantam instead, but it doesn't have a pocket clip.

I try to have a Leatherman with me at all times, sometimes I'll have two full size Leatherman tools and a micro tool. Why so many? I keep a Leatherman in the pocket of my motorcycle overpants, although sometimes it will migrate to the pocket of the jacket. I'll have an OHT on the belt of my regular pants. And I have a micro (or Style) in my tank bag. Plus there's a Mora in the tankbag.

Usually its a Benchmade 904-1 or a Mini Grip. Looking to get into a ZT0566 at some point though, I think it would be something different and better suited for hard use in the shop

My first EDC Knife just after high school was a Gerber FAST draw from Walmart...I really liked that knife...bought another one when I lost my first...then found it not long after and returned the replacement because the locking mechanism in the new one locked it closed as well as unlocked it to allow it to close and I didn't like that.

I then discovered Spyderco. Picked up a Sage...Carbon Fiber with the plain edge. Like it so much, I got a spare just in case they discontinue it and I lose one or it gets seriously damaged. Then I found the Tenacious. A little lower quality than the sage (China knife) but for 1/3 the price, I prefer to carry this. it has a much stronger clip than the sage but isn't low ride like the sage. I like the wire clip on the sage for the low ride height as well as the reduced damage getting in and out of vehicles/chairs with armrests...this one will damage a leather steering wheel or arm rest.

I also carry a Victorinox. Carried the Climber for a while until I decided I wanted something a little smaller and a full shank phillips. So I started carrying a Tinker (this is now in a catchall bowl in the kitchen). I currently carry a Tourist.

I decided I also wanted Pliers so I started carrying a Leatherman Wingman. I REALLY like the Wingman and it is my favorite multitool for sure. But I decided I wanted something a bit smaller so now I carry a Leatherman Juice S2. I keep the wingman in my bag in my truck as a backup. I have scissors and a full shank phillips so I was able to go to the Tourist rather than the larger Climber or the Tinker with the phillips.

Cliff's Notes: Currently in my pockets: Spyderco Tenacious, Victorinox Tourist, Leatherman Juice S2. I use the Tenacious all the time for a quick blade. I use the toothpick in the Tourist the most...until summer time at which time it becomes the ultimate splinter removal tool (tweezers and pin[purchased separately and installed into the small slot in the scale by the cork screw]). I also use the can opener on this as my main can opener in the kitchen (or the one on the Tinker if I happen to be wearing some shorts without pockets around the house or something). I use every bit of the Juice pretty regularly.

IF I need to choose just one, I will grab the juice because it can do most of what I can do with the others just not as efficiently. I usually have all 3.

Anyone have the leatherman skeletool? And how do you like it?

I like it a lot because it's very light compared to my victorinox Champ. However I don't like the screwdriver bits and prefer the old time Leatherman when the screwdrivers are permanently mounted on a shaft which is why I carry the Champ more.
