extra deep sockets

I need a deep socket that is 1 3/4" deep as opposed to the standard 1 1/2". Is there such a thing, and where? Thanks, Joe.

Craftsman sockets are broached the full length.

Thanks, I will look there. I went thru my deep sockets, several of which are Craftsman. The only one broached [todays education] all the way was a very old one. All others were 1 1/2". joe

Went to Sears today. They do have deep sockets broached to 1 3/4", but not all the way to the bottom. Lucky for me, 1 23/4 is what I need. I was surprised to see that Sears is accepting donations for military families. I was pleased to add mine. Joe

Sorry for the bad info. My sockets are to the bottom. But yes they are old (like me) I bid not think they changed them. russ

Not bad info at all. If you had not responded I would not be in possession of a socket that will work for me. The only ones that I have found to be more than 1 1/2" deep are the Craftsman. Joe

If you ever want a special depth deep socket, take a socket and cut it into, then weld each piece onto the end of a piece of pipe. You can make a socket as deep as you want like this. It is an old millwright trick for special applications. I also happen to be a machinist, so I take sockets and mill 6 flats around the top of them to create sockets that can be used with a box end wrench to get to bolts where other tools just don't work. An example of this is used on some spark plug sockets.
