What do you like?

Tekton for $24

Neiko for $18

Is there any advantage of this design by Tekton?

All I can think of is hard to reach places. I have extra long Allen socket with the ball end for taking the pneumatic actuators off commercial valve bodies

That design is good because you can cut the head of an Allen style and use it if you damage a bit

My long hex bit sockets are Sunex and came from Tooltopia. If you look at the Gearwrench, check Advance Auto Parts. They just about always have coupons available.

Next time they have a $25 off $50 coupon I plan to pick up the regular short Gearwrench hex bit sockets.

Jacobson,

The problems I see with the Tekton set are that you can possibly lose the set screw upon removal and the quality of the steel for the low price.

You might want to consider the Bondhus Prohold bit socket line. Bondhus has a great reputation on GJ for durability of their hex keys products. Bondhus Prohold does away with set screws. There are two buttons made from a proprietary material at the end of the socket to allow easy insertion and removal of the bit. Here is an Amazon link to a Bondhus Prohold Torx bit socket set: LINK.

I have a Gearwrench set I bought at Advance Auto . It was like 30 bucks. No issues. Only used them a few times but they seem nice for the price.

I got the gearwrench set when cripe sold it, no issues but, I don't use them a whole lot. I do use their normal length bits often on the end of a Milwaukee
M18 3/8 drive cordless impact with no issues either.

Best ones I have used are the snap on followed by the Matco. I got a Matco ADV one piece this past week but haven't run I through its paces yet. They all break or at least twist a bunch first with enough torque I have many back ups of the ones I use commonly

I have the tekton set . the shaft holds up well to daily use with a m18 impact but the set screws like to back off occasionally so put a little bit of blue locktight on them and your good to go im an industrial mechanic by trade and i likem alot

I have the Harbor Freight ones both SAE and metric. The metric ones are an older design and the shaft is the same size as the hex and the SAE ones are newer and have a beefed up shaft. They have taken apart and assembled may chainsaws and have severed me well. The metric do twist some but have not broke and have not stayed twisted. I would them again if I need another set. Get what you can afford to get the job done.
