well that project I dragged home has gotten its first bits of work, but turbo has to be high on the priority list
oil feed and oil return plumbed, know where I am stealing coolant in and out, but had to order different angle AN fitting today to make it look nicer
styling the air box after an old 140 HD kit, but need to cut 2" out of filter housing once new shorter filter appears
starts and runs!
need to cut and turn the turbo outlet 180* tmrw am at work with the nice tig

That thing looks like a pasquali, cool, missed the original thread. Turbo option will make for an interesting ride. What are your plans for it?

Given that tractor engines usually run at relatively low RPMs, is there really going to be much of a power increase from a turbo? Or is the turbo going to give a torque increase even at those revs? Just curious.

Lots of tractors come turbocharged. I may be mistaken, but I think the only difference between our MF 1100 and the 1135 was the addition of a turbo. Back in high school one of our projects was swapping the crank from a Ford 9700 into an 8700 as prep for a turbo refit. Then again... High school was a while ago so maybe I'm a bit confused on the Ford. At any rate, the project wasn't completed as someone lost the five gallon bucket full of bolted we used as storage during the teardown.

Who cares, that is just cool.

Just looked up the JD 400 and it's a 2 stroke garden tractor??? That you seem to have modified to articulate???? Very, very cool. With or without the turbo!

I must have missed the thread also when this little thing came home. I'm actually curious about this tractor, looks like it articulates in the center, what was the purpose of this JD400.

LOL, you going to add a intercooler to keep the cyl temps down?

I smell a O-ringed cylinder head very soon. I would waste gate it at 5psi for now.

Pretty much a toy with no real purpose other than maybe running a vibratory plow for our own use
5psi was plan for boost if it will make it
Have rpm adjusted and fuel screw backed out a bunch
Radiator is out of a civic

Update pictures coming soon
Moked up intake plumbing using rubber hoses last night, and ordered the bends to weld it up, along with stack and intake riser
It's a shame I don't have a tight die for my jd bender, as my 5.5 radius just won't get it where I want
Turbo outlet is very neatly tucked between starter and oil return line pointing backwards in engine

makes 4.5 psi loaded
made the kit nicer than most aftermarket kits one would buy for a car. even have the water cooling hooked up and the correct degree of tilt.
only thing left is raise airbox hat 24" with a piece of aluminum pipe
airbox after 4" removed from lid and box to make more appropriate sized and clear hood when opening. new filter to fit, even a finned one.

Looks like quite a bit of weight canrelivered there. Is the engine solid mounted?

How's it sound?
Used to tractor pull with a guy who'd turbo'ed an 830 Deere.
Damn turbo only whistled on the power strokes. Funny as hell to hear, but never ran well.

I'd support anything hanging off the engine, especially with the enigne being solid mounted. I bet that thing vibrates like crazy, and amplified exponentially when cantilevered off.

And yes, we need videos.

Wont that hot exhaust pipe hurt the engine cover due to the excessive heat?
1) open a youtube account
2) upload video to youtube
3) when done just post the link in your post, we can click the link and view from that...
Size of that file will be hard to email if its a long video say a minute or more, IMHO

Does it make boost? That engine is small even compared to the smallest turbos you can buy.

Here is mine:

A support will probably add stress to the system because of the thermal loading "jack" effect.

Keep in unconstrained. The thermal jack is higher than the operational g loading.
