once upon a time SK was owned by Facom. There have been some tools made by SK but labeled Facom and vice versa. Facom is currently owned by Stanley. They were like the Snap on of Euope.

I have one Facom tool a needle nose plier. It is very nice but a little short of Snap On. I would like to see a Facom ratchet as the design is very good. Not much available at a good price in the USA now. On ebay most of the items are SAE socket sets and some pliers.

I really like my set (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 ratchet sets and the 440 series wrenches)- they have great ergonomics, but they tend to be shorter than most North American tools (both wrenches and ratchets).

I have their sort and long with flex head 3/8 rachets and a 1/2 inch rachet. By far the nicest rachets I have ever owned and far nicer than snap-on.

I have one of the SK by Facom round head ratchets that came with a spline socket set and it is smooth but just a little on the thick side. Very nice ratchet but not as smooth as some I own. Very well built. I hate Facom Screwdrivers with a passion. I wouldn't mind a set of the 440 wrenches. No experiance with their sockets or other tools

I agree with the statement above. Ergonomically they are the best too
...Have several and never had a problem. Mine all have "France" stamped on them (not that there is anything wrong with that..LOL
) Anyway...see below compared to one of my Snaps....Attachments

I have the SAE 1/2 impact socket set from epstein that is really nice too (that is a big facom pozidrive #4 screwdriver too):
those insulated screw drivers look like bahco----definatly bahco!
the adjustable pipe pliers look like bahco/snap on.
ao maybe facom is subbing out some snap on tools

I purchased the long 1/2" drive Facom flex head ratchet after reading this thread and it is better made than my Snap on's but the comfort handle is a little weird looking.

Those aren't 440s. The 440s are the new I beam style wrenches(similar to the toptul wrenches).
most of the older stuff is made in france, but much of the new stuff is thought to be asian.

+1 on the ratchets being smooth as silk. Plus they're beautiful. I have a 3/8 palm control that I purchased new around 10 years ago. I don't think I've ever put a socket on it-it's too pretty to use.

on a more serious note, I also collect knives and although I use and sometimes abuse most of them at most times, there are one or two that I would rather stare at all day than use... *sigh*

Just an FYI: the Facom 440 wrenches have a slight curve to their grips that the Toptul super-torque wrenches don't- they're straight. The Facoms are more comfortable.
Yes my bad I meant to say they are No. 40 wrenches and they are made in france. I don't like the curvy 440s, not my style.
Those wrenches are fantastique. Any ideas on where I can get a set like them?
I got them on ebay from a guy who had a bunch that was a while ago though

I have the FACOM set of thin open end combo wrenches. I love those things. They feel great in your hands. I like them much better than Snap on and think they feel a little better than my other favorites the SK Superkrome.

OH gosh, now we are going to get into an arguement over the quality of the British version of HF/duralast/etc...
Facom Tools are excellent. Some of their tools are now made in several other European countries (e.g. Protwist screwdriver = Czech Republic, Italy, England). Some of their tools are also made in Taiwan. I don't know about the quality of the Taiwanese made tools.
Facom was also the official F1 tool supplier to Ferrari a few years back (now it is BETA). They have also supplied tools to McLaren.

Yup, I've seen that cart/tool set... tis an awesome piece of kit. I've ordered a few things from steve, great company to deal with, that cart is a bit out of my league though. check out what he has left in the facom closeout/clearance too, all o/s french stuff...
I personally think that particular Ferrari set is way overpriced (about $5,000 overpriced)
. You can get the same tools for way less money. Here is a much nicer set (90th anniversary) with the new much nicer foam inserts for about $5,500 less. You can buy a few thousand Ferrari logos for the difference in price. Facom tools are usually much less money than other European brands (e.g. Hazet, Stahlwille, etc.).

OOps sorry about my previous OT reply forgot I was in the main forum & also to post the main thing- I have a number of OLD Facom tools, my favourite being a black finish 8" shifting spanner from the 1960's, my dad bought all these tools when we were stationed in France and I have used them pretty much my whole life one way or another. I have no idea if the quality is still there nowadays, but I can totally recommend keeping your ear to the ground for any old Facom tools- possibly you will find them ignored by the "Snap on Junkies" ( no disrespect) in yard sales etc. Personally, I have not found a single one (second hand) in Australia , all these years of looking....

The tool chest pictured here has plastic drawer faces/ pulls which feel a little flimsy. It's COO is also dubious. The previous all metal FACOM tool chests were indestructible and made in France.
