I know a place that I can buy Facom off the shelf. Am I right in thinking the stuff is good stuff?
I just asked the Englishman across the desk from me and he said Yes.

Facom tends to be excellent, especially ergonomic wise. My only main gripe is the cutter / pliers. Bring a piece of fine copper wire or paper with you to make sure the cutters clip it cleanly. Everything else I've gotten has been great.

I think it's hi-vis (glow in the dark) for aircraft etc.

Very complete metric hand tool selection of Facom, very nice organization. I've never seen another brand with the size printed at the bottom of the socket. Looks like those tools would be a joy to use for sure!

The sizes aren't printed on the bottom of the socket, they are a socket insert.

VEK tools here in Australia are having a deal on Facom rotator ratchets - I'm sure I heard this wrong, but AUD$75 for the 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 ratchets as a set? J/R/S 360 units? The guy mentioned something about a sealed unit... I was thinking of baulking at the deal, but am now very tempted to buy now and apologise (profusely!) to wife later lol

and amazingly enough, with all the Facom stuff I have my drain plug socket set is a
cheapie one... Works well, but I do keep eyeing up the Facom magnetic drain plug
socket set...

I don't know why I bought it....I saw it on the Bay and made a lowball offer and he accepted.....next thing I was there collecting it.
Aluminum top is nice, and the fronts and drawer catches are aluminum as well. I've a few modules to go in that i've had for ages but it seems I need some filler pieces as well so may not bother as the price of them makes it an expensive route.
One day I will have the garage the way I want it and i'll take a photo.
Not knowing why you buy tools, but buying them anyway.... is a pre requesite for
membership on this site. But if you're going to blindly buy anything you could have
done much worse than that fantastic roll cab.
Now... Stop jibber jabbering on the internet and go and sort out your garage....
Oh...... and don't forget your camera...
that's so true... i think it's the only real "stubby/short" 14mm hex socket available... some of the BMWs have obstructions in front of the diff cover making it hard to fit anything longer in there unless you want to remove the entire spare tire well.
funny that you're familiar with it... i didn't know it was so infamous...

Bowled back there yesterday... despite my telling the guy at the shop that I had no interest in Sidchrome ratchets as I already had a dozen Koken ones that even he knew were better, his assistant comes back with a set of three sealed head sidchrome ratchets.
"Erm, we were talking about the Facom rotating ratchet when you said you had a set of three..."
"Oh no, Facom doesn't do set of those"
"Really? You told me they were a special set for your shop chain..."
My awesome deal was dust... pity!
Added 2 FACOM Flex Ratchets to the collection today:
They have a lovely action and feel very nice indeed.
Those flex-head ratchets look identical to the Mac equivalent except for the handle is different. I found them great at first but 1 year later I've replaced 2 heads in the 1/2 inch, 2 heads and a complete replacement of my 3/8". The quality is nowhere near my Snap-On equivalent which I've had for over 5 years now and never needed to replace the head once yet, and the snappy is the one I grab first.

Wow, I like Facom tools but that box is utter junk!
I have the 161 (several actually), and the 171 (and the 174). They're all excellent - you won't be disappointed in the 161. I have some old and well-used 161's and they still hold sockets tight.
That's a pretty good price for that set as well.
