My contractor suggested price book for MN states those same prices for your outlets. Electrical is brutally expensive work.

I for one certainly don't need a break down of what the material cost. I am WELL aware of that. IMO though it is completely meaningless. They give you a price, if you like it, do it. If you don't, don't have it done. Simple as that.
People that start throwing what our material cost and how much time something should take are an IMMEDIATE red flag. Typically I bow out of those jobs as people like that are usually too tedious to work for.

It's like asking for a price breakdown on a service upgrade when folks start spouting how they can get a panel for $100 and a meter pan for $30, bla, bla, bla.
A 200A service is something like $2200. Period. Don't like it, don't hire me.

And yes, $32 per receptacle is an INSANE price, even in Podunk USA. I am probably in the middle of the scale at around $55-60. As an add-on change order it might be higher depending on conditions.

That's about the what it cost here in Phoenix to upgrade my house panel to a 200amp, I even talked to several companies $2000.00-$2500.00...

Wow i cant believe people can get away with charging that much. My sparky charges me $75 per new circuit plus $25 per outlet and $40 per switch box plus the cost of fixture (can or whatever the light is). He IS a friend of mine, but asking around its only slightly lower than a non-friend electrician. I finish around 10 basements a year so its not like im getting a bulk discount.

The best thing I ever did was make friends with my old neighbor who is an electrician. I run ideas by him, he tells me what to do, then hooks whatever to the breaker and then I pay him in keystone light!!!

OP here. The contractor and the electrician agreed that since this is all in one big room, I just need to give them a diagram of where I want things and they will give me a lump sum for the that area.

That makes me happy, so just keep on discussing how much is reasonable, and how much is ****** the electrician. Have Fun!

He is a Licensed Journeyman and carries his own insurance. I don't ever require him to be bonded on any of my jobs but that's just a phone call away if i asked him to get a surety bond. He does probably 150-175 new homes a year so $2k a year in insurance isnt much to him.
