Just stumbled upon this thread.

Glad to see there are some motorsport enthusiasts in Denmark. I'm temporarily living here up until mid next year and haven't really heard about anything, or seen any modified cars. Maybe it's just Copenhagen?

Regarding modified cars, your post are 4 days late... The annual Scandinavian Motor Show was held over the weekend and winners from the US-categories can be seen here: http://streetfire.dk/resultatliste-sms-2013---us-cars

There are plenty of motorsport in Denmark as well, but the season is coming to an end due to weather... But if you are still here in the spring, there will be plenty for you to look at ;-)

Hope you enjoy your stay in wonderfull copenhagen :)

PS. Torben his name is Preben Overgaard?

How did the shop hold up with that crazy storm that just came through? My parents are in Assens and they lost roof tiles off all 3 of their buildings as well as a fence and a chunk of wall off my dads old workshop! My friends in Kolding were out of power for a while too.

Just had a look through the pics. The American stuff looked OK, everything else seemed to be a bit more show than go. Still would have loved to check it out.
Are there any race tracks in Denmark? I'm suffering severe withdrawals from not having taken my motorcycle to the track in nearly two years. Anywhere in Denmark to hire a race bike, or am I better of going to England or Germany?

It is with bad conscience that I first are back on GJ now. We have been extremely busy in the old shop and it has delayed the building of the new workshop. But we have since then made a bit in between. For six weeks ago we came out for the worst that can ever happen to one with his own workshop. The old shop burned down. all tools, equipment, parts, everything is gone . And there is of course too bad insurance. It was a lithium battery that without warning melted and set fire to a customer car, a Z06 C6 . Now we have startet to work in the new shop, but without tools, it is not quite as easy as before :) ..

Some pics after the fire in the old shop.
It was the last car we should build in the shop and the plan was to move everything right after this job .

Sorry to hear of your misfortunes but it looks like you are recovering well. The shop is looking great and I see food on the Barbi, mmmm ;)

The guy in the chair smiling at the camera with a phone in his hand looks exactly like my friend, I had to double take...twice...

Nice job at the new shop!

Think of it this way, all the collected mess of 20 years has been removed, and now it is time to start collecting more mess. In the mean time, you have a very neat and clean garage to work in!

Sorry for your loss Torben. Was the battery on a charger when the fire started?

Wow, I had a LOT to do today but stumbled onto this thread and read it from start to finish! Needless to say I'm a little behind on my work! But that's alright. Great building and even better build. ***** the old shop burned down but I guess one way to look at it is less to move. Hopefully things keep looking up for you. Love the progress pictures. Great to see how things are done over there!

Amazing build. I'm impressed by the vision you had when that building was in such rough shape. The shop really looks incredible.

I'm saddened to hear about your old shop, and can't imagine what it would be like to lose all that. But people with your drive to succeed and create can recover. Keep moving forward and you will have an incredible place.

Never before have I thought that I have that "drive" , yes there are still hard days but it goes much better now and fortunately we have enough to do right now :)

Portland - the cool one.
So sad to loose the tools and all the big equipment. I know any time I've moved I want to set fire to it and walk away rather than deal with all the packing. But I'd like to get the good stuff out first.

At least no one was hurt.

It's a fantastic building, the gantry is amazing and all the material things can be replaced. You have a great start on an amazingly large shop by any standard but especially for across the pond. I have a hard time believing it's not SoCal with the lifted trucks, open sky and huge space.

Good luck!

Gregor
