PB for rust, generic white lithium grease or silicon (depending on application) for lubrication, Boeshield for protecting

I use more Liquid Wrench than anything on old tools, because it is cheap.
For inside lube I use a mixture of Corrosion X and Slick ! lube that I put in a small squeeze bottle with a needle tube.
For ratchets inside, I use the clear Super Lube.
I have ordered 2 spray cans of Kroil to try.
The absolute best penetrating fluid you can use is a 1/2 & 1/2 mix of ATF and Acetone.
I do not use this often, since I have no tools that badly rusted.

for general lubrication i have no clear cut favorites

most general rust breaking i go with pb blaster, i have just recently started using sili-kroil.
gonna have to get some more of that stuff, it seem to be the best at rust busting so far

Where'd you find KY in a spray lube?

I use the PB blaster for rust, but for general use I also have regular old WD40 around. If nothing else it is good for spraying into the carb on small engines to start or when adjusting to stay running.

You all can have all that nasty stuff mentioned above... For me The best spary lube is PAM. When it sprays I know that soon something good will be coming out of the kitchen from the loving hands of Mrs. G.


In the shop I use Knock-er-loose for a penetrant but do not use spray lubs.

For a really light lubrication, the body shop's best friend, silicone spray.

A general light oil to lubricate and protect is Break Free CLP.

A heavier lubricant is white lithium grease.

for breaking stuff loose or rust i use only PB BLASTER for just a lube use different stuff depend on the application.

Borden's or Remmington Teflon spray. Use it on electronic connectors (computer cables, din plugs, any plastic to plastic plugs), guns, any hardware with sliding surfaces. Non-conductive, so you can spray it on electrical live circuits.

Best spray lube I've ever seen is Chesterton 601 Pin and Bushing lube.
This stuff goes on as a foam, penetrates deep, and stays put.

I like Wurth HHS for a lubricant and Wurth Rost-Off for a penetrating fluid.

Amsoil heavy duty metal protecterant for chains,bolts not requireing anti sieze,I used to like LPS-3,but havent seen it for a while,the Amsoil stuff smells and looks just like it though

oil based silicone spray (napa has a good one) as a protectorant on aluminum,mostly the suspensions and tunnels of the sleds as it prevents chemicals from staining them. Some silicone sprays use a waterbased carrier and dont work as well.

I'm kinda confused as to why so many of you guys use a penetrant as a lube ? Ive also noticed that with guys Ive worked next to for years, not sure when a penetrant became a lube. I thought a lube was a lube and penetrant loosened up rusty and stuck fasteners. Am I to think that the properties that dissolve rust, also act as a good lube ?

I use Bowman Distribution Penetrant, the stuff is blue and works rather well, its somehow gets down into the rust, I'm not sure they make it anymore. I still have a couple cans of it. I use it on the really nasty stuff, otherwise PB Blaster, for no particular reason.

Maybe I'm wrong but Sili - Kroil for a lube and Aero- Kroil as a penetrant, both from Kano Labs in Nashville TN USA. When not available, or if I feel cheap, WD4O.

It used to be pb blaster but I saw a test recently that showed liquid wrench to be more effective??? I can't for the life of me remember where I saw it? I showed the torque before and after the application of penetrant to remove a nut.

The testing I've seen shows 723 Spray Solvo and Aero Kroil have the lowest take off torque.

+1 on the lube-penetrant thing. They are two different products.

I use the CRC Power Lube also. For cheap stuff I use the ACE Lube-E which I buy on sale. Teflon and silicone sprays have their uses also but they have hazards that can come back to bite you.

For a penetrant I use PB Blaster first just because it is fast. If the PB fails I use the Candle Trick.
