After a somewhat disastrous second post (for anyone wondering, I swear that the CL listing wasn't mine, and I'm sorry if upset anyone), I feel compelled to redeem myself with a (hopefully) much better post.

After seeing this post: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177843, I had to have one (Cochran Speednut wrench). Though I don't have many, I really love the look and feel of older tools, especially when they differ mechanistically from most of what is currently offered.

Somehow, I lucked out in finding one immediately, and for cheap, on the 'bay. The seller mentions some surface rust, but it should clean up nicely. I'll post some before/after pics when it arrives. I have also picked up a few old toolboxes at garage sales that I plan on restoring soon, and before/after pics of those will go up as well.

On the subject of vintage tools, what is your favorite? Are there any that stick out to you as being more useful than any current offerings, or are there any that you can't help but collect? There are a few old threads on this (with most of the images down), but nothing substantial.

This one of my favourite old tools. I'm not sure how old it is but my Dad got me going on my first auto body work with it back in about 1966. He gave it to me about 5 years ago and it still works like new.

My favorite vintage tool would be my Eifel Plier Wrench. A geared head set of pliers, similar to the modern Knipex brand ones.

Loving those Eifels. Definitely keeping an eye out for them.

Plomb ratchets. They are some of the smoothest mechanisms devised and feel great in the hand. My truck toolbox and home box are stuffed with them and I use them as much as possible

Are there any Plomb ratchets that you recommend over the others? I almost feel like they're too pretty to use; how would you say they stand up to "modern" ratchets?

I inherited an old T&B crimper/wire stripper from my Electrician Grandfather, back in the late 70's.
MUCH better built than anything similar I've seen?
Used it EVERYDAY on the RR until the day I retired.

And still using it, to this day!
