Today was the last straw for me, I brought a 3/8 blue point impact butterfly about 5 months ago, from new it was faulty the motor jammed and instead of spinning and impacting like it should it will just blow air, the first week I brought it I had it sent away to SO, they sent it back saying no fault, I was angry my dealer apologised etc got a freebie and resent it another 3-4 weeks it came back to me still not fixed.
2 months I owned this gun and still faulty and used a couple of times, shortly after that I changed dealerships and kinda forgot about it, new SO guy new shop, I kept forgetting to bring it up finally last week I told him about it and he said he would check his system for my warranty details and get it sorted, next week, Today he came around and didn't mention anything said he'd come back to get my payment, didn't come back, so I walked up to the truck with the butterfly and plonked on his bench, he then asked the story again , I explained it to him then .... Get this he said " have you got your receipt?" I replied " are you f@$@en serious? Then I pretty much had an argument with him over the fact all details should be on file and my proof of purchase should be recorded by them in my name.

My receipts at home in my paperwork, not at work, it's a pain.

Sorry for the long post

So it didn't get sent today.
Also I buy some thing from SO weekly, always pay every week, spent $1000 on November specials and specifically said I want some freebies he was ment to be getting, he keeps saying they haven't sent them to him etc my old SO guy never had this problem.

One more thing every thing I ask for has to be ordered, and it takes forever 6 weeks to get an extension set, going on 3 weeks for a t30 bit .

Point is I'm sick of snap on, the only reason I buy them is off the truck availability, warranty plus freebies ie clothes hats etc but all of these are not what I'm getting

I'm gonna sell whatever snap on tools I have and use that money to convert everything to stahlwille and hazet. I'm boycotting snap on, they don't deserve my business

Does anyone else feel the same way?

i would not sell what i have.call corporate and keep asking for a higher supervisor until you get satisfaction.if they charge three times the price i expect three times the service and warranty.and we all know they charge way more than three times the price

Your dealer just plain *****, that is all. I have one that ***** as well, doesn't show up more than once a month, and that's if he feels like it. I used to pay him $100 a week, held a $1,000+ account balance that never went down (as I kept buying stuff), but he got real spotty and just plain *****. I quit buying from the dealer, and anything I need I just buy from snap-on's website. I get tools shipped to my door in 2 days, versus waiting 1-3 months if I order something through the local dealer. What a joke.

No reason to sell your tools unless you just like throwing money away. You will get 50 cents on the dollar of what you paid and then have to buy new. Use them until they break and then either warranty them or just throw them away.

It sounds like your dealer *****. Trucks that have to order everything and don't carry a lot of stock usually indecate that the dealer is having some financial issues and can't pay for enough stock to keep on the truck. Any way you can call your old dealer and work with him? Tell him you hate the new dealer and want to only do business with old dealer. Or email/call snap on corporate(not sure how that is set up over there) and tell them your frustration. Every company can have a bad representative but snap on is usually pretty good at taking care of their customers when they have a problem. Tell corporate your butterfly was sent in a bunch of times and never comes back fixed. Tell them you want a new one in exchange.

Ask him to refund your money. Show him the replacement from HF that you bought for $20. Tell him that's the logical successor, and your only antidote for the illness he's brought on. It may or may not have a sobering effect on the dealer, but at least it's emotionally satisfying.

Tell him as a dealer he is not making feel comfortable buying from him. I wouldn't sell your tools but instead insist he become a better service provider. Tell him you wanted to talk with him before calling snap on. I wouldn't get mad it's not worth it.
If you are buying stuff he won't want you disappointed.

I've never understood the wait 3-4 weeks for basic tools under warranty replacement when you can get them shipped that day from snap on.com

I understand your frustration I have no dealer he sits in an empty parking lot for hours on Monday morning and just stops by a few shops he hand picks we are a dealer with 10+ techs

looks to me the dealer needs to understand customer service better, some people get on a high horse with there buisness sense.

that being said ive had to wait for stuff too that was warranty but it was never a rush. though i would like to say it was only a 2 week turn around on everything. ive not gotten any freebies but my dealer usually gives me the promo prices on things even when its over with if i ask him.

i think you need to have a talk with him and if that don't work go up the ladder. i would have wanted it replaced with new after the first failed fix attempt or credit me, that is just plain not the way to do things if you ask me. but thats my thoughts.

Years ago, my dad had an armrest fall off the door of his brand new Cadillac. His dealer acted like your Snap On guy. I was an engineer and worked for GM at the time and I told my dad to send a letter, registered mail, to the CEO of General Motors, explaining his problem. You know what? That door door got fixed in a hurry. Point is, go to the decision makers, people that can get things done. They don't want problems falling in their laps or unhappy customers.

I can understand the frusrtation and the fix is indeed simple kind of like when life hands you lemons make lemonade...If I was working in another Country like the op I would indeed find the best service from whatever tool truck company that was in that area.

The op wants to convert to Hazet and Stahlwille tools which sounds ok but if they break can you get a replacement asap? That is the big question that only the op can answer.

You won't get any better warranty service from Hazet or Stahlwille. Those Germans are real proud of their tools. If you break one of their tools, you weren't using it correctly. :D

Thanks for the great advice guys, I could do all things suggested I might try get my gun replaced if they don't fix it third time around.

Selling all my tools is a bit irrational, I was angry last night and it would be more of a pain, I'm gonna go up the chain and order from headquarters until my guy gets the hint and bumps up his service.

Your dealer *****. I've never had to show a receipt with my SO guy. Anything I need, if he has to order it, it is usually in the next week.

i have rarely bought off the Snap On truck
i always went to the warehouse...they had a 'will call' counter everything was in stock and the guys on the trucks always have an attitude.....screw them, i pay cash
never got a freebie either

went in with a broken 3/8" Flex head torque wrench....snapped the head off on a head bolt
the kid behind the counter "we have to send it in"
'i have a motor open on the bench'
the old man behind the counter "go get him a new one"
'thanks Ralph'
"no problem, Noel"
'hey young man, when i bought my Snap Ons, the catalog 2nd page said "any tool bearing the Snap On name has a lifetime guarantee, electrical equipment excluded"

sadly the warehouse is gone:sad:

i have lots of tools, some were my Grandfather's, some my Fathers, i added mine

there's a new Snap On guy living on the way to Mom's think i'll leave a note on his truck i need a pair of 5mm Allen tips, i'm out of spares:lol:

I must be extremely lucky, my local snap on guy is super cool and really helpful. If he doesn't have what I want in stock I always get it within a week and he usually knocks around 15% off of everything I buy. Plus he doesn't care that I don't work in a shop.

Mine as well. I dont work in a shop anymore and he always helps me out and gives cash discounts. The guy is just an all around good guy. I guess I take it for granted. All my Snap On guys over the years have been great.

I think it should be a requirement to have worked on the other side of the tool truck before you own one. around here there is one snap on dealer, never turned a wrench before and is a crude jackass, who has tried to screw many co workers. The other one was a mechanic for several years, and worked through several shops. He is great. I get hats, tumblers, mugs, whatever he has and i gladly spend money with him.

Sue Snap-On in small claims court. You will have to serve their agent of process in your state.

In the 1980s I sued an ex-boss -- a multi-millionaire car dealer and major political big shot -- when he refused to return my property after I was fired. He spent hours on the phone trying to get me to back off. Finally, day before trial he says he will write me a check for any amount, to come down to the office. I arrive. He asks me how much. I say, $26.** (don't remember the exact amount). Told him I only wanted what I was entitled to. That made him even madder! Got the check but never did get my stuff back.

If any of you guys work for a BIG BIG car dealer megopolis in the San Fernando Valley, near Los Angeles, you know who I'm talking about. Oddly enough, I have great respect for the man. Always have. I must have been a real annoyance, yet he took the time personally to solve the problem. Didn't delegate it to some flunky who might mess it up.

Snap On will do the same thing, believe me.

Just get a new dealer...pretty simple...I have two that come to my shop for the past year....one pissed me off so I got the other one...and he is pretty cool. My old dealer at my old shop was the best..deals all the time and just easy to work with....when they give you something or exchange a tool you tend to spend money while on the truck, pretty much common sense..if your deal is a few screwdrivers short of a tool box and does not get the program...get a new one. I get on the truck and know what I need before they even show up...Just ask him how he ranked at Vegas this year in sales...that always gets them.

I think you'll find that Stahlwille is a division of SO
