It does put out a decent amount of heat. I used it for about 15 minutes running straight with a very small bit to clean out the gas burner holes on my bbq grill. No complaints though. Its a solid piece of equipment.

You might want to take a few breaks if your using 4th gear. At that speed its moving pretty near twice as fast as the new M18 Gen 2 fuel drill

Quite right, twice as fast as any other cordless drill I've seen. Though was a little surprised at how warm it got, especially since I wasn't driving a spade bit through 6x6 wood and had the clutch set to 12, in case it bogged down in a corner.

Didn't see it posted but thought I would share. I finally got a chance to check the fitment of the chucks between the Fein and the Metabo. The shaft on the Metabo is smaller so the Metabo chuck won't fit on the Fein where as the Fein fits the Metabo but has a lot of slop and also won't lock on. Hope this helps those that were wondering and apologies if it's already been answered.

Thought I'd give this thread a bump because I got to do some more work with this thing today. I am installing a new dryer vent through a block wall and so I chucked it up on the end of my SDS Plus 4-3/8" Speedcore bit and went to town!

No, I didn't. I did that with an SDS Plus drill... But, I did need to fasten the vent cap to the block, and so for that I used this drill to drill the holes with a tapcon bit and then drive in some tapcon screws. It ran like a chamPEEN. I had it in third gear and it fairly easily drilled the holes with the exception of one rough patch that took a little work. Since it's really beefy I was able to bear into it a bit and had no worries about the drill breaking or stalling out. Also after a fairly long session of drilling the motor really was not very warm. The gearbox was warmer but still not too hot to touch or anything. I think that may be a function of running it in third gear vs fourth gear.

Anyhow, there's my experience with drilling tapcons with this drill. I am very happy with this purchase.

Looks like they are finally out of them. Good thing I got mine last week. Haven't had a chance to use it yet (waiting on a part). But I can say that their customer service has been outstanding. And that the drill just feels really nice. I'm glad I got in on it.

Thanks for the followup, @firworks. And thanks to everyone who took advantage of this great deal we were able to offer in conjunction with our friends at Fein.

We are currently out of these drills. We're also out of the cordless Supercuts that we had at a great price. But there are more great deals on the horizon from The Nut in cooperation with some of our other great brand partners.

If anyone who has ordered from us needs help or has questions, please feel free to contact me. Glad to help you guys out.

I might have one to sell if anyone is interested. I just bought a milwaukee fuel drill and driver with 5.0ah batteries. Was going to piece this kit out on ebay but maybe not and sell the Fein. Haven't used this drill yet BTW.

How about that FEIN LED light that would be compatible with the drill/super cut battery systems?

I had checked on this and reported back earlier in the thread that it's not available in the U.S. at this time. No word on it's future availability.

You all may be interested to know The ASCM 18V QX made an appearance at the "French Oak Roubo Project II" this week in Georgia. One hand drill bored out the mortise holes in 5" to 6" oak bench tops for many of the participants.

Here is a video taken by Jeff Miller (the Renowned American Chairmaker) showing Renowned Canadian Luthier Francis Beaulieu running the Fein with 1 finger (in a jig clamped to the bench) with a 1 1/8" Wood Owl auger bit: https://instagram.com/p/9_owK0xBdM/

It was reported that a full charge of the 4Ah Battery would drill out the main mortise holes (4 x 5 1 1/8" holes). The drill would achomplish this in 1st or 2nd gear but not many participants wanted to go in 2nd since 1st was so very smooth.

Most of the bench builders were taken with the yellow jig. A few very smart ones realized that the drill was more special by far.

Anyone having this issue? When I use the drill for some real work. IE a big hole, it'll stop working, and I have to pull the battery out, and put it back in to reset it and make it run again.

Been trying to read the manual about whats doing this; IE is this it protecting itself from overheating or an electronic fault? Or is this something I need to look at getting a warranty repair on?

What gear are you running in? If you're drilling with a large bit I think you should be in 1 or at most 2.

I might have seen this once. I ended up changing a battery that was 1/2 charged because the tool was hesitating on starts. After a "reboot" never saw it again - and I used that drill hard last week.

Mine has done it twice. The first time with the batt at half charge. Replaced it with fresh batt then did it again a lil later and I basically rebooted it

So my question is; is this a weird fluke to put up with occasionally? (never had a drill that did this before), or is this something to look to send back to Fein to repair?

Did you recently buy the Fuel set (i.e., taking advantage of the current promo)?

lol yes i did. If i knew they were running that Milwaukee promo I would of passed on this.

I still think this is a nicer drill, but If I keep this over Milwaukee drill then ill have 3 different battery platforms now. Fein, Milwaukee and Ingersol Rand

I understand, you have to keep the different batteries to a manageable number or you get burred in batteries that don't get used.

Lol Nope. I live in a apartment. I been buying some power tools over time to have before I buy a old house to fix up. Also plan on helping my dad remodel there basement After xmas. Not using power tools in a month does happen for some people. I have an Milwaukee cordless impact I used 3 times since July of 14 :rocker:

I Already put it on eBay. I know it won't sell on here. If it don't sell on eBay I'll part out the Milwaukee kit then.

If you're willing to send the fein to New Zealand I'd take it - depending on the price of shipping :)

Guys, we were able to a very limited number of the Fein 18-volt cordless Multimaster OMTs. We have them specially priced even cheaper than the AFMM 14-volt version. This is the perfect companion for anyone who scored a deal on one of these drills.

This set includes two 2.5Ah batteries, charger, case and a good assortment of blades and sandpaper.

Just a heads up. Thanks!
