female hex to hex socket ?

I have a small set of sockets and screwdrive bits in a plastic case that im missing the hex socket that has a female hex in both ends...
It goes on the end of a short extension pc of hex that goes into the screwdriver handle...
I dont see a name on the set and im sure its a cheapo my wife bought mebut it is handy sometimes...there are about 6 SAE 1/4"drive sockets and 6 Metric socket and a bunch of torax and screwdriver bits...
Any idea where I can find just that one hex socket ?

I just came across one yesterday in my junk. It is round and has a 1/4" square whole all the way through it. It is Knurled on both ends. I came as part of a cheaper set of hex set of tools I am not sure what it was for. I know I have had it for 30 years or more It might be form the 60's. I think it was in my Kennedy machinist tools box for years. I think I had the same set as you but never have used it and I tossed the rest of the tools years ago. I figure I will keep it. When I am 99 years old I might find a use for it. LOL

yea that 1/4 to 1/4 shaft adapter is it...the other one for 7.00 is probably more than this set cost,lol

Very confusing thread. OP says he is looking for something with a female hex in both ends-then the replies are about a 1/4" square drive hex socket, and something with 1/4" square all the way through.....then OP says 1/4 to 1/4 "is it".....

This would not be pretty, but would do the job: buy a deep socket in 1/4" hex (drive doesn't matter, but 1/4" sq. would be more compact) that is broached full depth. Cut it off to remove the drive end leaving enough length to fit your two drives. If you have ball detents in the male hex parts, grind detents in the coupling for them. If you are using the hex males with the groove cut in them I'm not sure what to do.

You might be able to force out the shaft in a regular "cheapy" extension and use the working end, but I don't know how difficult that would be or how easily it would fit on afterwards. My google-fu was weak and this was all I could find...there probably is an answer out there though.
