Ya guys I know this is kind'a late to brag about but life got in the way during and after the build this year. So better late then never right?. :lol_hitti

Last year for SEMA I put together a 2015 300 but the concentration was exterior and interior treatments but more specifically the air ride system I built for it.

Last year I posted more details about this part here: http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=309020

Last year I was expected to get to the motor but there just wasn't any time to do so. Well this year I wasn't planning on doing anything for SEMA as I'm just burned out and my health has been giving me fits for a couple of months. But my son wanted to go in the worst way which meant......I had to do something or we weren't going. :(

So I committed to finally wrapping up the whole package. This included not only getting rid of the ugly, but installing a Mopar stage 3 kits including heads, headers and a few other horse power getters.

Here's the stock bonafied 5.7 ugly straight from the factory.

Add some heads with a few valve train goodies, Skatpack exhaust with high flows, a 6.1 intake, billet valve covers, all kinds of nicer hardware and staying with the tubing theme we got this.

Oh ya and ditched all the stock wiring cover and did something a bit nicer too.

And like all SEMA projects ended up running out of time so a couple things got made on the fly in minutes and not hours of machine work. Such would be these stupid covers on the front shocks. Normally these would have been wittled out of billet with a bit more flare but with only a couple hours to go before leaving I whipped these out of teflon and painted them satin black. They actually look half way decent.

And when it was all said and done here she is.

Oop's looks like I didn't upload any of the pic's from SEMA but I'll edit those in.

And a closing little side story. Over the last 11 years I've built several rides for various companies to showcase their products. Never have I ever gotten anything from it other than tired. What I've shown you here is very basic stuff and nothing special like in the past and to win an award for it actually cracks me up. :dunno:

But here she is in all her glory. Mothers Polish modern muscle award..........for a 4 door sedan. Who'd have ever thunk?. :wtf: :p

It looks beautiful and should be recognized. In the sea of Challengers and Chargers I'm sure it stood out. Very nice car. Simple and clean and it still looks classy. Great Job!

I would have expected you would have at least been paid.

Thanks again guys.

I would have expected you would have at least been paid.

I wish that were the case. Only once was my expenses covered but normally my repayment comes in a round about way. Like my relationship with edlebrock and working with them on their latest product release for the late model Hemi motor go fast parts. Working with companies of that level brings its own reward so it really is worth it to me in the end.

It definitely was for the boy child. My deal with him was I'm doing this for you so yur *** WILL be out there helping every inch of the way. The kid has really gotten the knack of finish work with my guidance over the last several years but has never expressed any interest in doing engine work except for super charger builds that I mostly do. But this time I forced him to do the heads and valve train work. It finally gave me a chance to teach him about TTY bolts and how to check out heads 100% like spring pressures, VTP, retainer to seal clearance, heck even seating the keepers plus using the torque wrench for TTY bolts. He also got a lesson in prepping powder coated parts at seal locations and what can cause leaks and how to deal with it. I think he got a kick out of it specially when the thing fired right up without hesitation or any issues what so ever.

The best part for me was physically I was just unable to do much of the heavy work with the problems I'm having. So he did most everything with little help from me. He did however get a bit defensive when I double checked some of his work on the subframe assembly and steering stuff but backed off when and why I showed him it wasn't to value yet and of course why. Even explained to him that I double and triple check my own work on many things. When he saw me get a couple half turns out of some key bolts, he got it.

With the exception of me doing the tubing work and wiring harness he did all the motor work without a single scratch to anything. One of these days that kid is going to make someone other then me proud of his abilities.

Guess what I'm saying is he deserved much of the credit for this as anyone else involved with the build. Not bad for a 20yr old.

And ya, I love working out of that bench man oh man does it make things nice having everything right there and not having to walk all over the joint. Happy turkey day my friend, hope you and the family have a great weekend.

Congrats on the award and the build. I think you gave it a much better appearance, not to mention better performance.
