I am building a 28 x 35 and I'm going to cover the walls with osb painted with white gloss paint. I do some cutting and welding and want to protect the bottom of the wall from catching fire.

I was thinking of using aluminum diamond plate 1/16 thick to cover up the bottom of the osb maybee 6 to 8 inches high.

If I were to seal the bottom of the plate with silicone it may also keep water from reaching the osb when I wash or mop the floor.

Any opinnions???

Frank

I think it'd a great job, although honestly, nothing is 100%.

I put some diamond plate behind my workbench and like the effect it has.

You might also consider stopping the OSB a few inches from the floor (if that is feasible behind the aluminum). Just in case any liquid ever gets spilled in there.

Not really baseboard but I am using corrugated metal roofing as a 4' high wainscoting over my OSB walls. I got the idea from the Texas saltbox on this forum. (I had the same idea for a fire resistant covering for welding, grinding sparks, etc.
