Why not make your own?
I make mine and sell them for $90/pair.![]()
Fireball makes some great products and Jason is a very knowledgeable guy who can explain complex things and processes into easily understandable info.
My first purchase was the smaller set of cast iron squares in both configurations and I received them quickly.
My second purchase was at Fabtech 2019 of the larger set but from AL. The booth had a steady stream of people the entire show which I’m sure was exhausting.
At the show I pre-ordered the Magic Square which was expected to ship in January. I started to see the Magic Square pop up in people’s Instagram feeds. I sent a private message inquiring about my order as I had not received the product or correspondence. Was told my order was cancelled due to not having enough information. He did offer free shipping which was pretty much what the preorder deal was. Great, what do I need to do to move it forward? No response. Finally just went ahead and ordered one, paying the shipping. Received it in a timely fashion. Was a bit surprised to see the return address was in CA as I believe he is in the PNW area so I’m assuming he has partnered up with a company to handle order fulfillment or possibly even production.

Those are nice but I love the Bessey Welders clamps. I've had mine forever and work great ! It depends what type of work you are doing.

For anyone using fireball squares. What’s the breaking point between using the large and normal size? Big price difference. I was thinking the height would make a difference but not if the material was smooth right?

I have big and little ones, I like and use them all at the same time sometimes... I have some Stronghand clamps and others but Jason's Squares are AWESOME, I have the alu versions... for what I do they are great tools, I want a set of the Iron ones as well and some of his table plates.
Having the aluminum, if you were to buy them again would you prefer the iron over the aluminum that you have?
I went cast iron and the only disappointment was not buying 2.

How do you like the magnet set?I have picked up quite a few tools from Fireball over the past few years. I am eyeing one of the 24x18 drill press table toppers next.

I use the magnetic setup blocks in almost every welding project. On my recent welding cart, I wanted to inset the sheet metal for the sides 1/2". This meant having welding the backer pieces in 3/8" in from the back (1/8" flat bar on 1" tubing). The setup blocks made it a breeze. I've made do in the past with a collection of various sized off cuts, but these work more consistently. Just last week I got the mini block set (1/16, 3/32, and 1/8" - non magnetic) and have already used them too.How do you like the magnet set?
You aint kidding. When I bought a set I knew I’d use just didn‘t realize how much. The mag blocks are one of tools that once you have it you wondered how you got along without it for so long.
Pricey, but worth it.
Did you contact them about it? I would think they'd want to do better if it was poorly machined.I picked up an magic square and, found they didn't include the magic with it. Damn thing isn't square or flatGoing to have trued up in the mill at work. It wont stop me from buying a fixed square but I think they can do better.
Interesting thing is after I contacted them they said its normal for the square to be out .020 and I could send it back as they do have a great warranty around that, and we agreed on a discount on a future purchase instead of returning and shipping etc. It was more of pain in my ****. Its clear the two side castings don't line up with each other in the terms of the bolt holes for the flip out pieces. It didn't turn me off from FB tools one bit, I just might not recommend the magic square.Did you contact them about it? I would think they'd want to do better if it was poorly machined.
That is interesting...given they show them used as fixtures for milling in some of their vids, you'd think they would at least be within a couple thou and not 20 thou.Interesting thing is after I contacted them they said its normal for the square to be out .020 and I could send it back as they do have a great warranty around that, and we agreed on a discount on a future purchase instead of returning and shipping etc. It was more of pain in my ****.
