Absolutely amazing Firehouse. I haven't been on the forum long enough to have seen this kind of thing before, and this absolutely blew me out of the water. This would be a once in a lifetime project that I'd love to have a stab at someday.

Also, being a guy with a built TJ locked on 35s, 8.8/HP30, etc... Nice Scrambler. You on JeepForum?

CJ,

This is one outrageous thread, and an awesome gig you have going.
i can't think of any true garage nut that would not jump at the chance to have a shot at the raw material you were fortunate enough to start with.
Really enjoy this kind of stuff.

Awesome, wish I could find an old Firestation to buy. Only thing next would be an old fire truck to go with it.

Unbelievable job so far. I wish our stations had some character like this one. Our oldest station was built in the late 50's and is a dump known as the "dumpster."

I just had that same ceiling fan installed in my great room. Its massive and rustic, fits your building well.

That fan was a pain! It has a remote that you have to wire in the receiver which they want you to place at the top where the wires(5) come out. I all about hammered that ******* in to place.

I put one like that with a remote in a house I own and you are right, it was almost IMPOSSIBLE to get all the wires stuffed into the decorative cover. I just about said to H!@# with the remote.

What was the name of the TV show again, Desperate Landscapes?

Yarp!. I need to shoot them an email and see when it airs (sometime this spring).
I finally bought a TV 2 weeks ago. One of these days I will unwrap it and plug it in. Guess I need the cable guy to come out too.

As mentioned before, great build

Here in England, Ducted hot air heating is not well known.

I had it in my last house here, a 1970's build.

Loved it, as it warms the place really fast.

I do like the semi industrial look you have achieved here in the Fire House.

Few updates:
Unfortunately I have been relegated to painting, which was the wifes job, but she is broken (pregnant). In all honesty, yes she is pregnant, but she has been studying and working her but off and officially of last night she is a doctoral candidate! Got a couple of doors hung. Hanging a few more tonight. Also installing a banquette in the kitchen and finishing the island. Hopefully will be getting back to the bathrooms upstairs and doing some wiring and plumbing.

The orignal island top was an old fire door, which is now the door to the master bedroom. It is HEAVY, shakes the wall when you close it too hard. The new island top is interesting. I decided to try a "paper bag" technique. It came out looking like leather. I have one more coat of poly to put on it.

Oh, I also reclaimed some space in the garage. The piano is now in its intended location.

Long Time no update.

Been doing a lot of painting and finishing touches here and there. I have been crazy busy with work so the house work has been a bit slow. Been working hard on the master bath and guest bath. Hope to be tiling by the end of May (month behind schedule). No update on the show.

Built out the island:

And the dynamic duo (my mom and her cousin) who stained the downstairs floors, painted the nursery........thats right, the nursery.

Fun side project, I bought a bowling alley..... It was the next logical step....prior to a laundramat...

Actually we had been looking for a dining room table, but couldnt find one we liked and thought about butcher block, but it was pricier than tables. I found a section of a bowling alley on CL. Bought it, destroyed a HF planer getting the wax/poly off, and now have it sanded smooth. The shop is building a metal base for it. I should poly the top tonight.

Creative - I love it. You're going to end up with a table that's much more durable than conventional butcher block....but you knew that. ;)

Well done.

Just found this thread, Like everyone else, its beautiful, and I always wanted one. I checked on some in the past in the city of Atlanta (ga.). They has plans for them, or they wouldn't zone them for single family dwelling, or a pub, or sports grill was going in, or the price was too high. there are 3 stations vacant in Atlanta that I know of. All 3 were built and used in the horse drawn engine era.

This place is AWESOME. I really like when someone gives an old place new life over building a new place. My parents did the same with a farm house from the 1700's. Keep up the great work.

Are you saying that you bought a complete Bowling Alley, as in a building, or just bought a bowling lane? :dunno:

WOW!

speechless... it looks incredible, definitly a home but with just enough firehouse accents to remind you of it's heritage... I dig the bowling alley table top.

Tell you wife, #7 is crooked... LOL!
