First Impact Wrench, input needed please

Hello board,
Brand new so please bear with me. I'm about to purchase my first pneumatic impact wrench and i was thinking about the CP 7748. I looked for reviews but couldn't find any. What does everyone think of this gun and CP's reliability in general? I was also considering the 8252.
Please Let me know what you guys think. I have a rusty old restore I'm working on outdoors with a 11cfm@125 psi portable 20 gallon compressor.

Chicago Pneumatic is reputable (you probably already knew that!) - I don't know what the torque specs are (they were in metric on CP's site).

I have an IR231, which my 14 year old 20-gal. compressor runs just fine. Compare it's specs to the CP you have in mind, and if you're set on a composite housing, look at the IR2131.

Both CP & IR should give you many years of DIY service.

200 is about the limit i can spend on this first impact. That puts the IR ti a bit out of my range.

I got a new one on Flea Bay for less than that $200. Check. Love the 2135TI if I got those initials correct

I really like my 2135timax. save up some more money, you wont regret it. I suggest buying the protective boot as well.

IR 2135 can be had for less then $200 if you look around, for a DIY gun it has not let me down so far.

I'm unsure of the model, but my dad has a 1/2" drive CP impact wrench. It's about 30-35 years old. I've always suggested CP and IR impacts.

x3 I just picked one up last Sunday and I'm very impressed with it so far. Very powerfull and not too loud.

My 20+ yr old IR 231 still works great too.

I used a 20 gal 2hp compressor for all my air tools for years with no problems. You only need a big compressor to run things like bead blast cabinets, paint sprayers, da sanders, etc.

You only use the impact for short blasts on each lug nut so it really don't require a lot of air.

What ever you buy, make certain that your compressor can put out enough air (CFM) !

No! You can run an impact with a tank of compressed air with no pump on it!

CFM requirements for air tools are only important if running continuously! The least understood concept I see on here.

Whether your compressor puts out 0.5 CFM @ 90 psi or 50 CFM @ 90 psi, the impact will get full power provided the tank is full.

assuming you have the right air hose. correct you don't need a pump. you can get nitrogen bottles to run your tools.

Don't forget the 20% coupon @ HF. Brings the Earthquake down to about $75. I had a 2135qtimax ($300 gun) and the Earthquake smoked it.

Look into the IR2131 it has a little more power than the IR231 and is a pound lighter and 15dB quieter and is under $150
