Too often people come here asking for advice on something they don't know or are not sure how to do it, so they ask & don't like what they hear, so just do it the way they please, code compliant or not.
Edit: my comment is a bit harsh but am not feeling very good, have long covid because of damaged lungs & that is the way I see it.
People here, and especially in this thread seem to have forgotten that I never went to the code office and asked how to do it, I made a thread on a forum about garages and asked some opinions. Nothing says I have to do my work and follow those opinions to the word. I appreciate the posts here, and I've used the information to decide on what to do.
In my view, this is like a bunch of guys hanging around the grill discussing stuff with ideas getting thrown around. People are taking things FAR too seriously.
Also, the amount of people here wanting things to be done exactly to 2020 NEC and nothing else is just hilarious
. Go look at everyones post history and see how many code violations you can count. They are everywhere
I bet there isn't a SINGLE person here with a garage with everything to code
Either way, the discussion on wire, and the welder rules were good information. I'm glad I went with liquid tight, made it much easier to get around my wonky garage
