I completed my very first restoration today. This vise was locked up. When I got it a few weeks ago from my fathers garage. He passed away about a month ago and it felt like he was there with me the whole time I was working on it.

Sorry for your loss but glad you recovered that vise from the estate and did such a good job on the restoration. My own father, now gone, wasn’t a tool guy but my father in law was a machinist all his life and left behind some tools for all 3 of his son in laws. He had a big American Scale vise that I made sure went to a good home (one of the other BIL’s) with a pledge to never sell it.

I have lots of vises and I consider that Reed to be the best 3 inch vise out there. Nothing new on the market can touch it.

Do you happen to know what the "N" indicates? It says 103-N. I also have a Reed 403 1/2 R that was my dads that I'll be flying next.

Motor: great vise and story. I also love REED vises and great job restoring your
Dad's old vise. sorry for your loss BTW.

the N in Reed's model number I think means non swivel base.

do you have any before or during restoration pics to post?

MOTOR: I don't have issues posting up to 7 pics per post from my laptop, but from my cell phone which usually is taking the pictures I have issues. are you posting from your cell phone?

if you have to post one pic per post til you figure it out that could work too cause i bet others would like to see your restoration.

good luck
