Flat File Cabinets, Full Extension?

I've been looking for a set of flat files for doing some storage -- large paper, wood templates, nothing too heavy. After searching Craigslist, I finally went in-person to look at a used flat file cabinet that was part of an emulsion machine at a print shop and the drawers were only 1/2 extension. I was hoping for at least 3/4 or more. I decided to pass on it for that reason, but was I too hasty in rejecting it?

It's been difficult to find info on flat files and their drawer slides. Is 1/2 extension typical or is 3/4+ the norm? How much drawer is left inside the cab on a typical flat file?

My flat file drawers are 38" deep and it exposes 30" when open all the way. Hope this helps.

Kevin

P.S.
I'm thinking of selling this one, anyone know what a good asking price would be?

Thanks, that is indeed helpful! Glad to know that other flat files seem to have slides that extend deeper.

I've seen double-stacked flat files like yours go for $300-700 in my area, depending on various factors (size, condition, how desperate the seller is, etc.)

Seen them GO for that, or get asked for that range? Asking and getting are two different thing, (the mid to upper price ranges are posted forever...)

Yea, it's true -- the pricier ones seems to just sit on Craigslist week after week. I guess some folks have the room to wait for the right buyer. I'm usually the kind of seller to nearly give something away 'cuz I'm desperate to make space
