I've been looking for a set of flat files for doing some storage -- large paper, wood templates, nothing too heavy. After searching Craigslist, I finally went in-person to look at a used flat file cabinet that was part of an emulsion machine at a print shop and the drawers were only 1/2 extension. I was hoping for at least 3/4 or more. I decided to pass on it for that reason, but was I too hasty in rejecting it?
It's been difficult to find info on flat files and their drawer slides. Is 1/2 extension typical or is 3/4+ the norm? How much drawer is left inside the cab on a typical flat file?
