Hello:
I have been reading and searching around on what's the proper ways to insulate my flat roof garage. It's currently has no insulation as I'm located in the Boston area. Therefore, it gets pretty cold up here during the winter time.
I'm currently confused on what's the cheapest way to insulate the roof so the garage would get too cold to work in during the winter time. Here's a little detail on my garage roof:
1). The garage is 1000 sq-ft and it's flat root
2). The rafters are 2"x10" and 1 and a half feet across
3). I believe the roof I have is called, "Cold Roof" where roof covering -->wood panel -->rafters. Pretty simple construction.
My ideal is to seal off all the cracks at the edge of the roof with hand spray foam of course from the inside of the garage. Then staple Owens Corning Raft-R-Mate Attic Vent to give some cavity ventilation space between the R30 and the roof wood panel, then cover it with Silvertanium Reflective Attic Insulation Roll as a vapor barrier or I can add some of the rigid insulation panels to add more R values right underneath the fiberglass insulation.
Would this idea be ok and wouldn't trap mold and other moisture in the ceiling? If not, what other ways I can do this?
Maybe perhaps I should add few pictures of my roof here so I can show you all what my current roof looks like and how to tackle this project?
Thank you all for your input.
