Does anybody have an affordable solution to a 8mm-19 or even 21mm and the sae equivalent set. The sets from gw would be over 300$.

You can get the smaller 7 piece sets for around $60, sometimes cheaper from Sears if you wait for a sale and use coupon codes. The SAE set goes from 3/8-3/4 and the metric sets is 10-15, 17, 19. Add the other sizes as you need them/find deals.

Was changing a broken + battery cable on a Sportster last weekend. Due to the location and angle of the connection at the starter end. I needed a 12MM Flex Head Ratcheting Wrench.

Set of Kobalts cost me about 80 bucks. Ouch. But more tools. I have Kobalt ratcheting SAE set but no flex head. Was really the right tool for the job.

I know there are mixed reviews here on Kobalt tools but I like these ratcheting wrenches just fine and they do the job for this homeowner.

Idk where you found that it'll cost you $300 realistically for this but here's what id do. Wait till Napa or advance has the sale for $30. Between the two its practically ever other month. Then buy the completer set off eBay or trident. Done. Don't bother buying a 16mm as 5/8 will work, unless you don't have a sae set. This should be well under $200. Probably more like $150. I've seen plenty if sellers have buy the standard set and get the add ones free for $125 I think it is. I'll try to find links after supper in an hour or so.

The second link is 8-19 for $138 the first link is the four piece completed set with wrench rack.

Edit: the second link has the completer set for free with wrench rack.
$140+shipping, bam, exactly what you wanted, and then some.

You've been on here for 5 months and have almost 2000 posts. I cannot help you my friend. Maybe someone can, I'm not sure.

Congrats by the way on getting Lebron back

In the link ratsofftoya posted, it looks like the ratchets fit into a 3/8 drive adapter and attach to the t handle??

Yes, the ends of the wrenches have 3/8 square w/ detent ball. You can use them with the t handles supplied or any extension. There is a sae version as well but it comes up as case qty's on the website. You can buy them individually though.

I prefer offset ratcheting with the reverse lever. Craftsman used to make the best usa ones ever.

So you can for them into a breaker var and use them that way?

Gee, thanks for the freaking help.

I don't even use regular wrenches anymore, ratcheting is the bomb.

You must not work on cars then. Ratcheting wrenches don't fit on a large portion of fasteners on an engine because designers only design for enough clearance for regular wrenches, not the fat head of a ratcheting.

That and my floor would be covered in pawls and little springs when the ratchet mechanism explodes.

They work on some stuff, not disputing that. They don't work on many though, and they also don't withstand high torque at all.

I have a set, it's handy for sure, it's no replacement for standard wrenches though as he's trying to claim.

I wrench 50+ hours a week at the shop I own

Rarely pick up my regular wrenches and beat the piss out of my ratcheting. Don't know what you're working on or with

http://www.ntxtools.com/network-tool-warehouse/KDT-9901-p-BOGO.html

8-19 + 21-25 for $131.49 plus whatever shipping is.

Use code N05 for another $5 off of $100.

Or, if you want metric + SAE:

http://www.ntxtools.com/network-tool-warehouse/KDT-9902.html

8-25 (sans 20mm) and 5/16" - 1" for $243.38.

Find some filler to raise your total to $260. You then get free shipping ($250+) and can use code N10 for $10 off $250.

I think this will be the best deal I have seen I just got the same deal thru matco but they are there spline versions for 800 so this is a great deal

I can get new flex head gearwrench sets in standard like 7/16-3/4 or something like that dirt cheap for like $35 here in town at napa...

if anyone is interested let me know and I can get pics/specifics...

the guys at napa don't like them because there bulky witch makes them somewhat unuseable in tight places, I can see it, and I don't know about you guys but I work almost only in tight places so it wont do for me...

the no lever, flip over type stubbies have been awesome for me but I still run into places where I need a standard box end because the ratchet ones are too bulky... and yes, places where an open end is useless and you just gotta have that standard box end..

what I would dearly love to see is a simple, no lever, no offset GW that sacrifices a bit of strength to gain clearance in the box end (smaller profile splines/paw mech) so they will fit more places.. id buy em even if they wouldn't warrant them..

I have found mine to withstand some great torque but I completely agree with the rest of this statement...

no way I could live with just gearwrenches, even if I had all of them...

if I could only have one kind of spanner I would still pick the standard open/box spanner over the ratcheting because I can think of 1,000 different ways you would simply be SOL if you only had GW's and needed a standard spanner..

I have no idea what your working on but if you can use just gearwrenches on it it must be a push mower or something...

I like to wrench on my german cars... and while doing so I can probably use the GW's maybe 1/10 times at the most when I pick a tool for the nut/bolt/job.. albeit its usually a ratchet with an assortment of extentions, universals, and sockets that get the brunt of the use on stuff I work on... but still its half and half where I would need a standard spanner..

come to think of it im desperate to get my hands on a couple more 13mm standard spanners... there like gold, the most commonly used/broken/lost tool for me that's for sure.. I have 13mm GW in stub and long and still run around trying to find a 13mm standard spanner

a ratcheting wrench will not fit on the 15mm bolt head that holds the rear stabilizer bushing clamp to the 9.25 rear of a dakota r/t. Sk deep offset ratcheting almost fit. Gearwrench not even close.

Yeah, this is the 7pc or 8pc set. $35 isn't a BAD price, but it's not a deal.

They've been cheaper before, and they will be again. The 7pc/8pc sets go on sale all the time at NAPA, Sears, etc. Usually 50% or more off, or BOGO.

My set of older reversible Stanley wrenches are actually thinner than my raised panel usa craftsman regular wrenches. Stanley doesn't seem those good ones anymore, they are bees knees.

Regular wrenches I will use to hold the nut when I tighten a bolt though. I am working on a second set of ratcheting wrenches for this now though!

So they won't work on your one example? Again, I wrench all day every day. There are places they won't fit, and a hell of a lot of places they do. 90% of the work is done with air tools or ratchets anyway
