Flexilla hose any good?

Figured someone on here would know if this hose is any good. The only reason I want it is because it's the only hose I can find in 35ft length and also have 3/8" NPT fittings (not 1/4"). I have 25ft rubber hose with 3/8" NPT threads but can't find it in 35 ft length.

What I DON'T want is a hose that curls and twists when you try to hand coil it, drives me crazy lol!

Most love it... I can't stand it. Parker Push-Lok is much nicer IMO (Just buy a cut length and whatever fittings your heart desires).

awesome, What do you hate about it?

Won't lay flat on the floor so you're always tripping on it, I think it's because it's too light. Also near impossible to clean (Brake cleaner soaked rag won't even touch it). Plus I hate green :dunno: To each their own though...

So it never lays flat like a rubber hose, that ***** and also means it probably coils when you try to hand coil it. How hard are the fittings to install on air hose? I have experience with oil, oil cooler lines but never have done air hoses. Are there high flow fittings our are they basically all the same.

It rolls up fine hand coiling it... Just won't lay flat on the floor.

Any pre-made hose comes with pipe thread ends. Then just buy whatever fitting you want and thread it on. Lot's of styles and Milton has a high flow version.

Parker Push-Lok use a hose barb but doesn't need a clamp. Just a little soap on the barb and push the end on. Done  Hence the name Push-Lok...

You can buy normal hose barb ends for other hoses. Just push them in and use a hose clamp.

I've got a couple Flexzilla air hoses and garden hoses, love 'em both and I love them for the same reason you hate your hose, it doesn't twist and curl and otherwise be a massive pain in the a**. The air hose sometimes gets a little sketchy when its full of air, but not really a problem. These are the only hoses I'll use now and yes, I'm not a fan of Lime Green either, especially with the garden hose. If its left out in the sun, the green fades to an ugly greenish white.

I have the 100' flexzilla garden hose and live it, would you say the air hose is similar in behaviour?

Also, some say the flexzilla has plastic threads? Is this true?

I have a 1/2" flexilla hose on a retractable levelwind reel. It does lay flat when I pull it out. It may be an issue of the hand coiling versus the reel?

No, they are aluminum. Ignore the reviews on Amazon :lol_hitti
Lol, exactly where I saw that, was weird must loved it, some hated it and said it coiled real bad! I had a Lowe's "hybrid hose" and that thing coiled so bad it was literally un-usable

We have a bunch of the Flexilla air hoses at work and I love them, when I get my garage done they will be what I buy for it. They roll up real nice and easy, the only problem is they do seam to get dirty fairly easy. I believe the ends are aluminum.

Most hoses act better on a real (Not trying to layout 20 extra feet of hose without tripping on it). The 1/2 hose does lay better than 3/8 though.

Lol, exactly where I saw that

Gotta love people :willy_nil

I hand coil, I have bread hose reels hurt flow (this is just in my garage, not a everyday used garage). I may try a reel and just drill out the fitting for more flow.

I have one of their garden hoses, courtesy of a neighbor, and it is awesome. For mechanic type work I sill prefer my rubber yellow USA Goodyear hoses. Just my 2¢.

I have 20-30 of their water and air hoses. FANTASTIC. Their pressure washer hose can be a little difficult to deal with under pressure as it is 50 feet...But other than that, it's a fantastic hose also.
Legacy makes a lot of really neat stuff.
But stay tuned; there will be a competitor to Legacy out there soon...The original designer of Flexzilla left Legacy a few years ago, and is not part of a new company...

There already is, can't remember the name off the top of my head. Tekton maybe :headscrat:
what don't you like?

As someone else mentioned above, I think it is just too light weight for for mechanic type work. IMHO where they shine is in wood working with light weight nailers in a clean environment, where mobility of the attached tool is everything. If you primarily did engine rebuilding with smaller air tools, that would be one thing, but for common 1/2" impact and 3/8" air ratchet type stuff I'd stick with a good rubber hose and possibly a whip. The garden hose doesn't seem to have this issue due to the added weight of the water flowing through it. Then again that is just my 2¢, the reason I have one of their garden hoses is because a neighbor hated it and gave it to me, so not everyone has the same opinion on them, yours might differ from mine.

We had 6-8 at the shop I worked at, what I didn't like is they seem to attract the dirt and oil and got pretty nasty. Now, grant it, we were not using reels at the time so the hoses were all over the ground, but still, they seemed to pick up every bit of muck & mire that was on the floor. Flexzilla does seem to be made from some sort of sticky type compound or coating.

this would be perfect for me then, I have a Bohr garage that I do suspension, engine rebuild, custom turbo applications...only get the big impact out for subframe bushings and axles.

I can totally see that, these are more suited for a home mechanic/DIY that don't get trampled and are in a some what cleaner environment.

All we use at work are flexilla's never had a problem ive had the same hose for over 5 yrs and I was there before me. As mentioned for mechanical work we do the occasional stuff associated with collisions. Maybe the disel guys wont like them but I would use nothing else as it never kinks.

Aside from them getting ditry, I like the hose very much. And seeing grease every where else in the shop, it doesn't bother me. Light weight and they don't tangle. I 'd buy another one when the 2 I have wear out. My two cents.

Love mine for the cold weather flexibility. My garage is unheated and rubber hose at low temps absolutely *****. Flexzilla sees temps in the teens for me and stays pretty flexible. As mentioned it does get dirty, but what doesn't in my garage?

There's only 1 mention of the Goodyear hoses?! I agree, Flexzilla is 100x better than any of the crappy plastic/rubber hoses you will see at a big box store, but I have always loved using my yellow Goodyear USA hose, especially when working on my cars. I agree that the Flexzilla gets dirty very easily, so I use a Flexzilla whip near my workbench for the clean/intricate things.

My reasoning was the fittings, I want 3/8" NPT not 1/4" NPT.

I just want to point out that it can't be any worse than this review I found for a harbor freight hose:

http://www.harborfreight.com/air-to...avy-duty-pvcrubber-hybrid-air-hose-60358.html

"Comments about Central Pneumatic 50 ft. x 3/8 in. Heavy Duty PVC/Rubber Hybrid Air Hose:

This paticular hose is a freak of nature . It curls up on your feet like it's in love with you ! . When I first bought it I was amazed at how I couldn't get it to relax and thought then that I should write my first reveiw , and I didn't so today I painted my hood and tripped three times because it humped my ancle . For the love of God do not buy this if you value your life . I'm not kidding !"

I don't know who wrote that review but I opted to pay a little more for a nice rubber hose from lowes.

I like the flexzilla hoses but one blew its end off itself not to long ago. Compressor is set to 135 psi. Scared the **** out of me, a loud bang then whipping around on the floor.
ended up putting a vise grip on the end and going back to work.
Switched the other flexzilla over to goodyears.

I love mine. I actually put my 25' length at the end of a 30' older rubber 1/2 truck line (that line is stupid heavy) the flex zilla is a heck of a lot lighter and have had no problems with it. Except it is a royal PITA to clean. Brake clean kinda cleans it but I use diesel and a heavy rag and that seems to do the trick.
