I just bought a house with a 3 car garage and I want to get to work on the garage immediately. First on my list is the floor; The house is over twenty years old and the garage floor has some cracks and oil stains. What product can I use to fill cracks and imperfections? What can I use to clean the floor and get it prepped for paint? Will a muriatic acid solution do the trick or is there something better?
I painted the floor of my last garage with deck and patio oil based paint and it held up very well for the 21 years I owned that house. Is there something new I can coat the floors with that is not going to require elaborate prepping or cost an arm and a leg?
Thanks

This question is asked time and time again from newbies. It's real easy to get answers from this question by using the search. Put in some effort and research it.

thegarageguy,

Are you on ToyotaNation with a user name of ngerald? If not, you two could be brothers. Not everyone is savvy about doing "searches" on a subject or even how to link pictures, blog (what ever that is) or a myrid assortment of other things you consider "easy". Give people a break. If you don't want to help, skip to the next thread.

I'm just giving you an honest opinion as a new member here and to be even more honest, at my age I don't care if you like it or not but something needed to be said.

Hi fortee9er,

When it comes to your garage floor you are going to get out of it what you put in it. If you want cheap... then don't expect quality. If you want value then contact Fred with AlphaGarage who can help you with your project. He can walk you through the whole thing and tell you what you need to buy and how much it costs.

I love how people come to the rescue for no apparent reason. Please understand Georgia that my post wasn't meant to bash him but to encourage him to use the forum to its full potetial and help this forum not be redudant.

With that said, I reread his original post and I had to laugh. :bounce:

Hey Fortee9er, 21 years is hard to beat. Stick with what works. As they say, don't fix was isn't broken. :lol_hitti

Yes, if you put in the effort to clean and prepare the floor surface for paint or epoxy, it'll last a long time.....me eh, let's just say I didn't lol and my floor looks like it.
