I understand that fluorescent lighting is best for general lighting in garage workshops. But, in winter they take a long time to light up and flicker. Also, how do you dispose of them safely?
I have purchased 4' florescent lights from Menards designed for colder weather at a cost of only a couple of dollars extra. They worked great. Otherwise the regular ones are just dimmer until the lights/shop heat up.
Your local city or county municipalty should provide a disposal for the bulb. Usually at a minimal cost, sometimes for free. Menards takes the little twist in bulbs for free. You could start by asking your electric provider.
