Foley Sharpeners as bench grinder?

Is there any reason to buy a Foley 310 or Foley 314 sharpener and attempt to make a bench grinder out of them? They seem to be quality units and I do not plan on sharpening saw blades, but could use another bench grinder (I ONLY have 3!)

Ramper: do you have any pictures of your Foley because they had a few different designs? I know we talked about this over on the Craftsman block thread, but it would be good to talk about again if you want to post over there asking this question.

there was some talk about Foley or the company that made Foley if they didn't make them for themselves either were also the makers of some of the versions of the block grinder. i'm having a senior moment and can't quite remember what we decided or if we did.

my guess is that you can make it a grinder, wire wheeler or buffer if you like and just take the proper safety precautions that you would with any bench grinder or power tool.

I've got a couple of the later Foley "block" grinders which appear identical to the Craftsman. And yes, they are excellent as a bench grinder.
