to each their own......I'm the type of guy that would build a racing simulator like that, and have all the tracks in the world on it

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of being forced to watch a commercial before every You Tube video?

I've gotten to the point where if it starts with a commercial, I simply close the window - it just pisses me off how pervasive advertising is in our world anymore.....hell, even the pisser's in restaurants have scrolling advertisments right in front of your face!

Cheese louise, enough already!

I agree 100% - In fact, I've written both our U.S. Senators and our Congressmen.

In effect the "Public Airways" have been all but completely taken over by commercial interests. At any point in time - if you flip though the broadcast TV stations - you seem to have a 95% chance of seeing nothing but commercials. Shows take commercial breaks every five minutes and they last longer than the program being shown.

I fully realize that it takes commercial ad revenue to support the broadcast programing - but there no longer seems to be any balance between the Public's use of the airways and the commercial use.

This was not the case in the 50's, 60's, 70's and even into the early 80's. If the Public ownes the airways, and the government leases them out to licensed providers - shouldn't the Public have some restrictions on the percentage of time devoted to commercial advertising? I think the answer is YES and yet again the public interests is sold out to commercial interests...

Yes - I'm sick of it. Likewise the funds lost by the U.S. Post Office on subsidizing junk mail.

BTW - afer year of complaining about LOUD TV Commercials - finally the FCC has ordered that stopped - - - effective NEXT YEAR!

FWIW,
Carl B.

Do you have adblock plus installed? I don't ever see ads on youtube, but I always have Adblock installed.. not sure if that's why, but I hear people bitching about the ads constantly, yet I've never seen one

I think that cockpit is pretty cool. I'd love to have something like that, but I don't think I could design the software for my own stuff like he did.

It's like building your own custom video game, console, controller all in one.

About the closest I've seen to what I would like is Gran Turismo 5, with the steering wheel, shift and pedals. But with the PS3 only capable of one screen, and no seat in to pants feel, it's just isn't worth the effort....

I use adblock too but I still get the popup ads on youtube and that Foxnews site. Is there a certain profile or changes that need to be made to get rid of all of em?

hmm. what are you subscribed to in adblock for a filter list? I always used easylist before, but now it's fanboys list or something

One other thing I thought about is, do you have a login on youtube, and have you uploaded any videos? I have both, so I don't know if maybe it's just people with accounts don't get ads? I'm not sure either way.. I just kept seeing people complain about ads, and was like huh? there's no ads.. then someone showed me

That guy spent some time on that thing! I first expected the whole thing to move like the professional flight simulators. Then I got to thinking, "I bet somebody has already done this at home".

Of course, they have:

http://www.youtube.com/user/tronicgr?blend=2&ob=video-mustangbase

There are also driving simulators and even products you can buy:

Think of anything you can and somebody has spent an insane amount of time and amount of their income to do it.

I'm usually logged in on Youtube, but I just checked and my adblock was disabled, so that explains it. I clicked the link again and no ad, straight to the video woohoo :)
