All my Econolines have been vans. First one was a '63. Have an '84 project now. But I always loved these pickups, just never had an opportunity to own one. Yours is turning out great !

Are you taking it to the track anytime soon? Would love details on how it does.
maybe this week. i've been doing a little testing on the "down the road dragstrip". having a little ( major) issue with hook-up.
i wonder if it has anything to do with the vehicle coming with like 79hp vs my 435hp ... lol

just thought i would throw up some pics from this past summer for those who followed my build.
ran a best time of 11.7 @ 112mph . making a couple changes for next year, so i can improve that
some.
also did what i would call drag n drive training. two tracks, two hundred miles in one day. super fun.

Those are some great pics! Curious, I had a '69 G10 Chevy van (307 cu. in. three on the tree) in '73 and I could swear the color was the same as yours. Mine was a stock Chevy color. I also had a '61 Econoline van/pickup for probably close to 20 years. Partial pic at post #65.

Here's a detail of that pic.

my colors are not actually factory colors to that truck, but they are factory colors to F100s of the same era. "lunar green" and "wimbelton white". the e100s had a similar blue, which is what my racing buddy has .

I forget if you mentioned it in your thread, are the nerf bar bumpers from a 1970-1/2 Z28? Very similar!

Not my car, but my friend in MI bought one new. At the same time his dad bought a new Torino Cobra Jet, he owned an Indy car team, and also raced sprint cars and midgets.

That pair of Econolines at the strip is so-cool!

this a very cool project & the drag events are impressive. I have a friend that is just starting a rebuild on a pickup as well... would you be able to share any info. on how get any body patch panels? he has alot of rust to repair & we have no clue as to where to get patch panels? also by chance would van patch panels work? His bad areas are all lower areas around wheel wells & doors. any assistance would be greatly appreciated. FYI: He is redoing it for his dad who is unable to rebuild it... it is a gift for him ;)

Unfortunely i've heard the the repop patch panels are no longer available. Don't quote me, but thats what i saw on fb.
the front wheel arches were never available as aftermarket. I went thru the ringer getting mine. It involved a greyhound bus and sending a money order with no guarantee. but it worked out....
good luck with the restoration.

Love those early Econolines. A high school friend had a '64 Econoline with 4 speed column shift that we used to rip around Atlanta in. His dad had used it as a work truck to lay floor tile.

Sure brings back memories. Bought a stretched 67 back in 70. It was a carpet delivery van, Converted it into camper, got married & left NY state on the same day.
After we settled in Phx. the van craze was on. Gutted the camper gear. Dropped in a 289. Reserve air tank under the bed fed both an air horn & powered the front air shocks tied to a brake switch for those flair up landings, White spoke 15x10 GY hi milers in the rear. Big O Bigfoot on the front on chrome reverse. Sitting over the rear wheel openings was a rendering of the stepenwolfe monster from the album. Rear doors replaced w/ a sheet of bronze plexiglass. Lots of memories cruising central & church parking lots on Sunday mornings😱. Wish I had pictures.

Nice, not sure that I should 'like' the post.

I don't recall, what trans is it?

We just tagged along with RMRW Thursday and Friday, honestly glad I wasn't participating, it was hovering around 100F all week. We were pretty cooked just spectating.

I'm hoping to finish up a car for Sick66 sick ward.

I think it will depend on what tracks they can get. Recently they did Pueblo to Kearney NE on a road day without racing. That is a long haul in a camry with ac...
The last one they went from TX to Tulsa on a road day. I do not know what 2.0 is going to do as they are going down south in TX, LA etc, I'd guess they will have a travel day though.
If you ever got a chance to take the truck out to CO to an event, I highly recommend it, if just for the drives through the mountains. It is an unique experience and makes for some awesome pics and such. It can also pose some new challenges with altitude and keeping cool, both vehicle and people.
