ENCO Knee Milling Machine - $1500 (Joshua Tree, CA)

This was just posted.
Normally I would say the price is high but take a look at all that tooling and condition of the mill. The bottom shelf looks like it would cost more than half of the mill, I can see a rotary table and (2) index's, full set of R8 collets, several large angle plates.

This could be a good deal for someone who's starting from scratch; later on maybe put a DRO and a VFD on it and I think you'll be good to go for a long time. The sellers ph. number is posted in reply.

Delta 50-853 Dust Collection, 2100 CFM $150 (covina, CA)

These are 3 HP and can service four hose's at once. This is not a small one, it's big and pretty serious for a dust collector on wheels. 2100 CFM Dust Collector

A smoking deal for $150 if it works. Check to see first if it's single phase or three phase.

He also has a Unisaw in the pics, you might want to ask about it as well.

So... Good deal then?

Well that depends. I'm not a car mechanic, I'm mostly machining and wood working. I have found that I much prefer Lista & Vidmar cabinets over Snap-On stye boxes. The former have better bearing slides, heavier gauge metal and higher max weight capacity per drawer and are much deeper (28") giving you much bigger drawers. Once you use one, you never go back.

A common price for them is usually $500. Check the Chicago area.

Also, Formula 1 race teams prefers these to S-O boxes.

If you can't fit a deep 28" cabinet in your space then the box above would be a good alternative and if you decide to sell it, you'll probably get your money back when selling it. I'm still pushing for a Vidmar/Lista/Lyon/Rousseau style cabinet over S-O boxes.

Maybe make an offer on one of these. You'll get twice the capacity per dollar compared to the Caterpillar mentioned above:

I wish I was near Chicago.

Sorry if I'm posting too much but these rarely come up.

Oliver model 144 8 inch Jointer - $400 (Santa Clarita, CA)

Oliver 8 in jointer, runs great. 3 phase.

Not exactly for a garage or super cheap but these are awesome, almost legendary and rarely come up for sale and usually for much more. He had it up on eBay for $400 so hit him up with an offer.

Posting too much? HELL NO!
I for one look forward to your postings! Keep 'em coming!
Those Oliver machines are unbelievable. I still remember sending a stack of weathered old growth redwood true one inch rough cut boards through an Oliver 24 inch planer. One pass and the boards on the far side felt like silk fabric.

No idea about Snap-on box pricing but this is kinda cool being a Caterpillar box.

cat tool box made by snap-on - 500$

Part of me wants to go check it out but I don't need it.

Certainly looks like a 4107 and 4114. That combo would retail for around $4k. I think everyone could agree that it's quite the deal at $1k if it's not beat to ****.

I'd actually like you to post more on the east coast! Specifically southern PA, MD, DE and Northern VA with some far east parts of WV!

Thanks for the kind posts.

I did look at Annapolis but that's not a place to find bargains. it's hard to randomly look around these areas for budget deals. I really recommend enabling Craigslist notifications for searches/items your looking for.

VIDMAR TOOL CABINET - $325 (ELMER)

I found this one but probably too north for you in Elmer, it's a Vidmar with no photo but he's asking $325. It could be a good deal if it's a big or wide one, ask if he can send you a photo or describe it you. it's fairly easy to figure out what he's got (model) by looking at the specs on Vidmar's or Lista's website.

"VIDMAR BOTTOM TOOL BOX , $325. NICE SHAPE"

https://southjersey.craigslist.org/for/5454771118.html

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Work Bench & Locker Base - $95 (Germantown, MD)

This looks like a nice maple top to save. fairly large and thick rock maple top. Does not look too beat up and it's 2-1/8" thick. He says he'll thrown in a vise which could make it a sweet deal if it's a good classic one.

4" Vise - $10 (Conestoga, PA)

Here's an interesting and very cool looking vise that someone should quickly jump on, It's a Parkinsons, Made in England. It looks like it has been repaired/welded very well but it's only $10.

Too far for me to drive. But looks in good condition except dirty:

Craftsman 6" Industrial Bench Grinder - $40 (Greenbrier/Ches)

00b0b_dGbPkoCOyil_600x450.jpg

Somebody should jump on that block grinder, it's totally compete even has the lamp which I rarely see on the cast metal versions. The glass eye shields with metal rims and water tray are very desirable and alone are worth the $40. These have very strong motors for the hp rating but the bearings probably need replacing which is not too hard for the average GJ member. These clean up really nicely, there's a whole GJ thread on these vises.

Walker Turner Floor Stand with Commercial 3/4HP Block Grinder - $150 (Bargersville, Indiana)

Here's another block grinder, it's a 3/4 hp with 8" disc's; the price is a little high but the pedestal is the star of this deal. I would love to have that Walker Turner stand.

I would say $75 for each is a fair price.

What are you looking for? I have some tools I want to get rid of

PM me what you're wanting to get rid of, I'm always on the hunt for good old American iron. If you're looking for something let me know, I've collected some really nice stuff, have an old 24" delta scroll saw from the early 70's I'll probably never use, a bell saw 12" planer I'd consider parting with and some other odds and ends.

I've been on a hunt for a mill too and maybe a lathe.

Thanks for the kind posts.

Agreed, not a lot of bargins around the DC area because it's full of rich retired politicians and lobbyists that can out spend me without blinking. I've driven as far north as Lancaster/Harrisburg as far west as Winchester and south as far as Northfolk. Rarely am I able to get to places fast enough for that super deal just because of the time it takes to get around this rats nest of clogged roads.

I've set up several CL searches but haven't had much luck.

Again thanks for posting stuff for the GJ crowd, you're helping guys like me get deals on good stuff that we otherwise could not afford.

Price: $100
Item: Burr King model 960-400 4" x 60" belt grinder (mistakenly advertised as 6" in the ad)

This is a $4000, USA-made, cadillac of a belt grinder for $100 (this one: http://www.burrking.com/catalog/p-100005/model-960-400-4-x-60-two-wheel-belt-grinder), and all replacement parts are still available from burr king. It's now at 460volts 3-phase, but easy to rewire to 230v 3-phase (and then power with a VFD or whatever).

Could be deal worthy to the right person.

Snap-on Tool Box KR-562B. $500 OBO.
Snap-on Kr562B Tool box cabinet. This is a great old box. Cabinet is 50 wide 39 tall and 26 deep. These are also know as aircraft or taco boxes. Drawers all work good. I have one key which will work in all 3 locks. It is a nice box with a few imperfections. Has handle and tow hitch. It rolls great.

Two of these selling at the same time. You very rarely see these come up sale in this area. I wish they were the blue hammertone version.

They're probably selling their tools off to pay their outrageous taxes and/or housing costs!

I don't know where everybody gets this notion that California taxes are outrageous. Property, income, and sales tax are about average compared to other states. Housing cost is high, but taxes, not really.

Very good point. And there's a good reason it's expensive to live here! From a CA native....
