Someone could correct me if I'm wrong but this is probably one of the best deals you're going to get on craigslist for an anvil in the Bay Area.

You are absolutely correct. I hope you got the anvil. The seller must of received at least several dozen emails. There is one guy in Santa Rosa that has been buying up all the blacksmith related items in the North Bay for the mere purpose to resell. I've seen over 90% of his unsold same items relisted for years. He does not clean up or restore his goods, he resells as found.

Rusty vises are sold. I just got an email from the seller.

Did one of you guys get them?

.

Was not I.
His updated posting shows a smaller inventory from when I last viewed it.
Forgot to put the price for both vises, $40.00 for both.

Milwaukee V28 power (10 piece) tool set, Circular & (2) Sawzall- $100 (VENICE, CA)

Not sure how real this ad is but if it is real, it's a good one and won't last long.

"This dependable set of used tools includes:
2) Hammer-Drills
2) Sawzall
1) 6 1/2" Circular Saw
3) Batteries
2) Chargers
1) Bag

Due to medical conditions I can no longer do this type of work so am selling off my hand-tools etc. to pay for the bills.

$100 firm."

If it isn't a scam it's another screaming hot deal. A guy could sell off the duplicate tools to recover most of the hundred bucks and end up with almost free tools.

1940s Good Form Tilt Drawer Cabinet Vintage Industrial Mid-Century - $200 (Hillandale, MD)
00404_hxnxZa75I09_600x450.jpg

That cabinet above is made by "Yawman & Erbe".

Recently I posted something about that style cabinet in another thread back in July found here:
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showpost.php?p=6612769&postcount=968

That one is pricey. They're very cool cabinets but not sure how useful they are in a shop, there was some discussion about it in that thread. Y&E are high quality and made some really nice metal cabinets back in the day.

H.D. 18" DISC SANDER/GRINDER - $250 (Lancaster, CA)

It's not a Apex but 18" disc grinders with some HP behind it generally sell above $800-$1600. While Apex's are highly sought after, this one for $250 could work well for someone. Looks very beefy, just make sure to check the runout.

"Heavy duty 18" disk sander
Made of 8" I-BEAM and 5" I-BEAM
220 single phase 2HP
Sanding disk is 1/2" thick
Can demonstrate that it works."

"Looks very beefy" is still an understatement !

Makes the little Craftsman I have that looks like this one from Google images, look like a baby's toy.

Can someone educate me about what is so special about that stand?

It was the original equipment stand sold at Sears. I have one that came with my Craftsman half horse "block" grinder that I bought from the original owner at his garage sale.
A very nice one sold on eBay last month for $170 plus shipping.
Ordinarily they sell for less.

edit: As macgee warns right below here, unless you limit your use to very lightweight duty, you'd better bolt that "classic" grinder stand to the floor or at least bolt it to something big, flat, and really heavy.

Nothing really other than it's art deco look and it was the only one made for Craftsman block grinders that has a really strong cult following. The base is pretty small so bolting it to the ground is an absolute must for stability. They're a lot of other pedestals out there that are better, especially for the price.

I much prefer the three thick feet ones, not the super cheap ones with three flat feet (they really s*ck).

vintage Waterloo top and bottom boxes $110

SF Bay Area. Clayton CA

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/tls/d/rolling-tool-chest/6363780128.html

Nice find. That top chest is worth considerably more than the bottom one-- Waterloo is hit or miss, with their pre-1990 boxes being quite sturdy across the board, while their current entry level offerings are tin-can quality.

The top box in this post looks to be very solid. The bottom one is certainly better than what you'll find in Sears' consumer grade today, though not as good as what Waterloo was selling in the mid-70s to mid 1980s.

I highly doubt this is still there. I'm guessing the motor is bad. But an old craftsman drill press, drill press vise, and an unknown vise for $40.

Alviso (San Jose, CA)

Drill press, vise, vise, table - $40

I would've gotten it yesterday (it's down the street from me) but I was forbidden to get it until I get the other drill presses in my garage fixed...

..and don't forget to share some pics of those other presses once you get them cleaned up. They've been raining drill presses for you the past few months, no wonder your wife said 'no more'!

I broke my spending spree 5 hours early and meet with the seller after he got off work around 7:30pm. I emailed him at 7am and he texted about an hour later emphasizing everything is sold as is and all sales final. I assured him I understood and offered to come at a time of his choosing. Ten minutes after we confirmed a meet time he texted my back and said he received a $60.00 offer.
I immediately called him and stated I will not partake in a bidding war, there are plenty of drill presses to go around for everyone looking for one and I am looking for items for my nephew such as a tool chest, wood working and mechanic tools. he said I was welcome to still come as he has some of the items I mentioned. The garage was open and he was boxing clothing and such for a Goodwill pick up. His father was a commercial painter and all around handyman. Inventory mostly consist of item related to his trade.

I spent $500.00 and took home:
Couple of ladders, one collapsible and a real Little Giant Dark Horse(fiber glass)
Craftsman Grey and Red top and bottom chest both filled with tools and various items.
Craftsman 100 series 10" inch table saw with 2HP Baldor motor
Craftsman 1/3 H.P. block grinder with stand
Handler Red-Wing model 704 drum Sani-Grinder USA
Small Craftsman Vise USA
Bosch trim saw kit
Makita 4inch angle grinder
Two drill press vice, USA and Taiwan
Record 3VS bench vise, this one has Made in England cast on side.
Little Pana-Vise screw clamp on type. You can see it hanging on the wall.
All tools hanging on the peg boards/walls
Couple of Craftsman compressors, 30 gallon and pancake, various air tools.
Vintage Chrysler 9.9HP boat motor-condition unknown
Lawboy 2 stroke mower
Echo PB400 backpack blower
Echo weed wacker
Two industrial Brothers sewing machines same OEM as Consew 206 and 227 models
there a few more items, but this is the gist of it
Somethings for the wife too, but this is not a Kitchen Forum

In case you are wondering, the Craftsman drill press was included in the package , the other buyer was almost an hour late and when he arrived the seller told him, I was first for the drill press and he said to let you have it for $60.00 but sold it because you didn't come when you said and did not have the courtesy to call and say you will be late. The other guy offered me $75.00 for
the DP and DP vises and gave me his card. I know this is an Atlas made DP.
It is smaller than I imagined it would be, barely 13 inches 1/3 HP. Should I accept the
$75.00 offer. I have not inspected or try to run or plug it in. My intent was to do a rebuild with Nephew and give it to him.
