I was talking to a guy in Dallas at a gun show that makes different size bags that keep tools , guns etc .. from rusting. He also makes them in custom sizes, he said he had made one for a guy to put his bare metal hotrod in to keep from rusting until he decided on paint! Thought you guys might be interested !

They probably use vapor phase corrosion inhibitor (vpci) technology. It's similar to the old trick of putting a piece of camphor in your toolbox. They make a **** ton of different size plastic storage bags, as well as these 9V battery size moisture absorption capsules.

The bags are not coated with anything but I do not know exact composition of bags, just thought I would pass this on to you guys. The bags are yellow in color , last 5 years and are used in military and industrial application as well. I will be placing an order as soon as I can figure out what sizes I need , was going to buy a few but ran short on time after buying firearms.

I use the zerust infused drawer liners from lowes. They seem to work well and don't cost an arm and a leg.

I looked at a few items from ZERUST and these bags are the same color and could be the same material. I checked on the motorcycle bag and drawer liner and they were less than the Zerust .

I just use the decadent packs that comes with electronic items whem they are new,also in over the counter meds also.i have 2-3 in every tool drawer.

If you keep a container tightly sealed those dessicant packs can help. In a toolbox drawer with reasonable air circulation they're probably exhausted in a few days, especially if the relative humidity is on the high side.

I have an aluminum Zarges cargo box for unused photography stuff and the dessicant packs do a great job in that waterproof, rarely-opened container.

Depending on the type of dessicant they might be able to be reactivated by some time in a low-temperature oven -- the web has a lot of info here.
