Just made it! Free b'day present for me haha.

Someone needs to let them know that their website is almost impossible to navigate on an iPhone.

Received email wanting me to follow link to re-signup for their email list to get item. No thanks

"Hi Felipe,
Unfortunately, somebody hacked our last email blast so we want to verify your request for the free 11th Finger push stick. Please go to this link to re-subscribe to our weekly eBlasts. To verify that you are a legitimate woodworker, we are going to ask you what kind of table saw that you have. This offer is only good through end of day March 13, 2015, so don’t delay. Thanks, Paul Akers ([email protected]))

i got this same email a week or so ago. Followed the link and filled it out again. I received a shipping confirmation yesterday, so they are fulfilling the orders if you went back and completed it fully including the saw you are using.

Interesting that you guys got an e-mail about something being hacked...mine just said that there was overwhelming demand and they wanted to confirm that it was legit. Same process though. No tracking/shipping info for me yet.

I just went to look in my email.

I received the email on 03/11 at 7:45 pm, and it says I had until 03/13 to sign back up again. So basically 2 days to sign up again.

That doesn't seem right to only give 2 days. It looks like they did that to get out of sending the free item.

I'm going to send them an email that this is not enough time. This kind of leaves a bitter taste in my mouth, I guess they just lost me as a potential customer.

Dude , it was a free item, they didnt have to run the promo in the first place. 2 days is more than enough time to check email and respond to it. They did that because they dont have enough items to give to everyone that signed up, so in mind the best way to weed out people is to first get rid of the ones that provided a throw away email, and B) get rid of the non wood workers. Next time provide a real email address that you actually check and you might receive your free stuff.

I never got a shipping confirmation for my 11th finger, I did resubmit too. That said, I got an email from them that had a $10 off coupon code so I just bought one and paid the 2something in shipping.

I resubmitted and, so far, I've also not received any sort of shipping confirmation email. I'm hoping they just haven't gotten around to shipping one to me yet.

just to clarify my prior post, my email from fast cap did not refer to any hacking, just an overwhelming response and they wanted to make sure you were an actual woodworker.

This is just a way for them to discourage people from registering for the free item to reduce the number of free items they'd be sending out. If there are limits to the number of items they want to send out, they should have put a limit on the number of item submissions that could be made. I think the whole second submission requirement is really a poor thing to do, and the way it was done also leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Even though I did catch the second email and was able to resubmit my request. In the second submission form, where the form asked for the brand of my table saw, I didn't notice the additional pop-up message that states I was supposed to enter both the brand and the model of my saw. So I only entered the brand and realized my omission only after I submitted the form. I don't even know the model of my table saw. It's a Delta saw from the 1950s. So maybe they'll use that as an excuse not to send me the free item? But either way, I think it's fairly unprofessional of them to do what they did.

I didn't get the email about being hacked. Just to resubmit type of saw.

I'm actually concerned if their email got hacked... Considering we're providing personal information. I get enough spam and telemarketer calls as it is.

I got the Hacked message as well, saw it a day late but said "eh, why not" and filled it back out. Haven't recieved anything else since, but whatever, I'm out a few minutes of my GJ surfing time... OhTheHugeManatee!!!!!

For those complaining they didn't cater to your needs, get over it, you aren't their only customer they have to deal with, and you probably never would have been one anyway. My company does a lot of freebie stuff as well, you wouldn't believe the ways some find to get more than their allotted quantity, and when they don't get it BEFORE the expected arrival window, even though we send them tracking numbers, they call customer service complaining.

Free stuff is just that, free, if I don't get it, I don't get it, not going to waste my breath or time complaining about it. And most times when free stuff comes in the mail it is like Christmas since it is usually months(one time over a year) after I have forgotten about it.

I'm not complaining they didn't cater to my needs. I am saying that they've acted in a very unprofessional manner with this free offer. Maybe their computer system got hacked and our personal information has been compromised? Maybe they just couldn't afford to send out free items to everyone that wanted them?

I got an email from them advertising some washers that have countersunk holes for wood screws. They would be perfect for a pretty large project that I'm starting to work on in a few weeks, and I'd need 4-5 thousand of them. It's pretty unlikely I'd buy the washers from Fastcap, just based on this free offer. I'll probably just look somewhere else.

Seriously people, it was a free offer. Get over it. More than likely they received a huge amount of requests, many more than they expected. Mainly due to websites like this which give much more exposure to the offer than the company probably expected. So I think it's very plausable they thought maybe something had been hacked and they didn't want to send out a lot of product to possible bogus addresses or something similar. If situations such as this will keep you from doing business with a company, it won't be long until you can't purchase a product anywhere.
I'm hoping I receive this product. If not, what am I out? One minute of my life filling out the form. I've wasted more time typing this reply than I spent on the offer.

I think you are missing my point. It's not about the free product at all. Honestly, I do not care if I receive my free push stick or not. I've made them out of wood in the past, and I can make them out of wood in the future. It's more about the company and the way this free offer has been handled.

Jeez, it's another SK free hat and catalog in the making... I think it's terrible that some people decide to do business with a company or not based on how they handle a free product giveaway. I like "free" as much as anyone, but I also keep in perspective that I get what I pay for.

no grudges against them...they obvious got slickdealed or something and it seems unreasonable to expect certain sized companies to understand how these things get out of hand ( i don’t even grudge the big ones)..it seems like it was meant to be targeted and that didn’t happen. If they had been able to handle it good. If not no biggie.

I already ordered a few things from them after the promo. not sure if i’ll get the push stick but don’t think it was a dishonest attempt so not going to sweat it.

Yes they got slick deal'd. I searched and found this http://slickdeals.net/f/7671062-free-11th-finger-woodworking-tool?page=2&rpid=74365222

Heres some of the golden quotes:

"Thanks, don't have a use for it now, but it's free "

"Darn.. oos. I don't do woodworking but anything with a good strong magnet is very useful to a needleworker who is constantly losing needles. A strong magnet at the end of a stick? Wave it around and the needle I just dropped jumps up onto it."

Same here. At this point, I don't anticipate receiving one. Which is fine. It's unfortunate that what started out as a nice offer turned into negative press for them.
