You can read a short description I posted Friday on the thread titled "RockSolid polyurea floor coating". That is just a small quantity of the issues and problems I experienced with the citadel/rocksolid floor coating.

I suppose a new thread would be more appropriate to explain all the issues along with detailed background information on the install and past 2 years of use. I will work on putting that together... stay tuned.

Here is an article from last year when a major automotive racing publication completed their project with our first generation Pro Series product "which was still in cans and not our much easier to use patented burst pouch systems. Check these out.

I was just wondering, who were the lucky ones to recieve the kits? If you did recieve any of the kits, since you should be coating your floor in the next two week per the OP, please post on here and let everybody (me) know about the results. I am trying to narrow down what I am going to use and would like to know a little more about this product and how it worked out.

I was one of the lucky few to get a chance to try this product out. Unfortunately, This is how it came...

The good thing is Adam/Bruce are working to get this taken care of. What I like about this company is they are just a phone call away. Both times I called, Adam/Bruce were on the phone within minutes... Great people to deal with....

Mine came the same way.....not quite as bad as 00pewter's, but still was a mess. I opened mine the utility room, and made a mess inside. I havent talked to Adam, but Bruce has been lots of help so far. I'm hoping my second shipment comes intact, and I will be opening it outside!!!

Yes it is the base coat.

I'll be posting photos of our Rock Solid project this coming weekend along with my impression of the product. So far I've got to say I am impressed with it. I will also say that Adam and Bruce have been quick to answer every question I have had with this stuff, which is pretty unconventional from my experience with epoxies. This stuff is single component and really thick. Turned out nice, all in all!

Did either of you guys order the clear coat as well. I opted for the extra $ for it and was curious if any else did as well.

I did not and I was sure to ask the guys about the gloss factor. I am sure the clear coat adds some durability, but I am pleased with the appearance without it.

It looks thick, so is it pretty easy to tell how much to roll on when you are starting, to make sure you have plenty for the 250 foot coverage, or if you are going to have to much left over? Also what do they mean leave a 6 to 12inch wet edge when spreading flakes? Cant wait to see your pics!! And I cant wait to get started on mine!

I'll post the photos this weekend along with my survey responses to Rock Solid. I thought the product has really, really heavy viscosity, and it takes a while to get it worked out to the right coverage. But the advantage I saw to the viscosity was the flow. It seemed to flow out forever while curing and it hid alot of roller imperfections as well as surface fibers from my stranded concrete slab.

Another downside to the packaging that I pointed out to them was that while the pouch is great for getting all of the product out of the container, like toothpaste, it makes it hard to judge volume. What I mean is with say a can it's easy to judge how much you've used; with the pouch it is much harder to judge. But after the first one we had the coverage worked out because my garage is segmented in squares with expansion joints.

Thanks for the info! I had family in Crestwood back in the 70s, and that was probably the last time I was up that way. Im in Radcliff, but moving to Western KY soon as I can....thats where my garage is......LOL.
Can you tell me anything about the wet edge they are talking about??

Wildcat I would guess what they are saying is to leave a 6-12" area free of flakes in the last section before starting to roll out the next section .

The wet edge means don't broadcast any chips in a wet 6"-12" area as you go back for more liquid material. You don't want to backroll new liquid over previously applied chips or you'll have an unsightly high spot. Especially noticeable with polyaspartics. It's basically a buffer zone.

I got mine last Friday and haven't open it yet! I guess I need to because it was sitting outside for a couple of day while we were gone. It snowed and we had one of our largest snow falls in years right before it got there. I was going to do this next week but other things have come up. I will try and do it soon though with pictures as I work on it. I have 2 days of moving stuff out I guess and a day of cleaning floor then one day to dry at least maybe more depending on temp.

Thanks to Rock solid floors for the kits. I went without the clear also.

OK guys, as promised here are the photos of the RockSolid installation from last week. I want to point out that at the end, I told the folks at Citadel that I was going to post my responses to their survey, which was part of the free trial at their request in order to improve the product. I am doing this for the benefit of the guys who DID NOT participate in the test, not all you who did or are going to. They are pretty adamant about getting everyone's honest opinion, and they already have my impressions. Like your ninth grade history professor, they'll know if you plagiarized. Be honest and forthcoming; they were gracious enough to give us a chance to get something good in return for our help--help 'em back!


A few shots before cleaning up and etching. I had some oil spots on the floor from my truck, as you will better see later, but Simple Green Citrus degreaser did a real number on the oily spots.

A shot of the floor looking back to the back wall. You can barely make out the sill plate of pressure treated lumber along the floor. This was in place because the foundation is ICF to tie into the ICF structure of the house; the garage itself is stick framed.

A better shot of the back wall and sill plate. I coated that with the polyaspartic as Adam recommended and it turned out nice. However, you'll see that it ended up completely obscured by Mrs' shelving for all the storage she needs. It is a garage, right?

Last shot of the before; you can see the joints in the slab that I used to segment the application into sections. The whole area is about 26'x24'. Around 650 square feet, give or take.
