Well we got a start on replacing my sons tools.

It was my sons birthday on the 18th and some family gave him some Sears gift cards, so off we went to Sears saturday. They had a pretty good sale going on so we started looking at sets and pricing the difference if we bought individual tools, because the sets give you a bunch of stuff you don't use. We were able to get the 118 pc set for 59.99 then screw drivers, hammers, wrenches, and shears. While cheching for made in USA we noticed none of the individual ratchets were USA, so we passed. On the way home we stopped by ACE and their Craftsman ratchets were made in USA!

So it was a successful trip. He is going to get his pliers from Channellock and lineman's pliers with nut drivers from Kline.

I agree with your technique of shopping carefully and avoiding the kits with "stuff you don't use". Good for you seeking out the USA products.

SK, Armstrong, Snap On gets my vote. Check out ebay or the classifieds, sometimes you get really good deals
