Thanks, man! I'm wondering if I can set the lift back far enough towards the back of the garage to make the low tracks a non-issue.

you can do a high lift conversion with a jack shaft opener for under $1K

I did that with my single in order to clear the lift, and there's so much room without all of the door opener **** in the way.

I just read through your thread and that's definitely an option I may very well consider when the time comes. This may be a really dumb question, but I'll go ahead and ask it anyway...when it comes to taking wheels off your car(s), with the 4 post design, do you then have to jack the car up while it's on the lift? One of the things I'm looking forward to most about eventually having a lift is being able to swap all 4 wheels at once, without having to jack up the front and the rear separately.

If you don't mind my asking, whereabouts in RI are you located? I'm not far over the RI/MA line, only about 15 minutes east of Providence.

Think I just answered my own question...funny how helpful Google can be when you use it, huh?!

Looks like Bendpak sells a 4-post bridge jack that would alleviate my concern...again, when the time comes. I don't want to get too far ahead of myself. But here's what the looks like, for anyone interested:

Many of your photo's are not opening. Nice abode, huge upgrade in garage space. Is their room to expand the garage into back if you wanted?

Semi miss living on southshore of Mass, but have grown to like it here in Western Mass now. How do you like your 335i? Has it had the high pressure fuel pump replaced yet? I had been considering getting one but they just have too much electrics.

You had asked if there was room to expand the garage and I was trying to explain the layout and what not. Decided to take some photos to help illustrate my point:

And just for shits and giggles, a fun, little sinkhole that recently developed (you bet I've already reached out to the builder regarding this...taking advantage of my 1 year builders warranty):

On a brighter note, we've got some grass growth!!! :bounce:

Your pics seem to be hit or miss for me! Sometimes they work, but most of the time, they do not unfortunately. Looks like you're hosting them on google, which I've had trouble with in the past hot-linking to due to user permissions.

May want to give photobucket or something similar a try. That's what I use with good results, anyways.

Love it. I see lots of room for an additional garage out back once you get caught up.

I like where your head is at!! Thanks, man!

I used to only use Photobucket, but since I backup my camera roll on my iPhone to my PB account, I've maxed out my storage. Most of the photos in this thread are stored on my Gmail account, while some came directly from my iPhone (posted via the Tapatalk app). I'll try and fix the photos for you guys to avoid any further issues. Thanks for the heads up and input!

I like to use flickr as photobucket tends to be slow an ad intensive. I still can only see a few photos.

Photobucket is very slow an ad-intensive, I'm with you there. But they have a pretty intuitive UI, so I've used them for years and years Flickr is another great alternative.

OK, photos have all been updated and are now hosted by either Photobucket or Flickr, so you shouldn't have any issues seeing them any longer.

Working, Great to see grass growth. Wishing mine would take off in the barren spots, I aerated the lawn and seed it, but the cold has not gone away yet. We had 39 degree weather yesterday morning and it's been i the 40's and rainy today so the birds are loving the seed.

This past Tuesday we had ice on the pool cover till about 9 am. Weird weather this year.

Weird, indeed. While it hasn't been quiet that cold down in the Southcoast area, it hasn't exactly been warm, either. That said, Saturday might have been the nicest day of the spring, yet.

I've been having a tough go of it finding the time to keep the lawn watered, but all the rain yesterday/today and in the remaining forecast for the week should greatly help. As long as we get some sun mixed in, of course.

Another "fun" issue I've had is with the number of ticks I've now found in the house. Sunday night made 3 in less than 2 weeks. The first two, I found crawling on my body. Luckily, they hadn't chosen a spot on my body to sink themselves into, nasty-*** buggers. The 2nd of the two I found on my body actually woke me up from a deep sleep, around 230am one night last week. I felt something tickling my arm and it wasn't until I itched myself a few times and realized the "tickle" wasn't going away that I turned the lamp on to find the little f*cker.

I always assumed ticks were only found in areas with tall grass, but after some detective work, I learned that they prefer dark, moist areas. So as a result of the new construction (forcing the ticks out of their natural habitat) and the fact that my lawn has consistently been moist for the last 2 weeks or so, I think they're coming out, full force.

Gotta remember to keep loading myself up with bug spray (w/ Deet!) each time I go out to water the lawn. Oh, and we just gave the dog his monthly flea & tick application. So whether he's the one tracking them in or if it's me, hopefully this all helps to alleviate that issue. Last thing I want is someone in my family contracting Lyme disease, especially my little man.

I have bringing them in too as I have been doing a bunch of stream clearing in my back. I have a high water table so when the streams back up it causes the backyard to be swampy.

00E0E_kFAt6HFExwD_1200x900.jpg

.
Been working at getting these for the M3 but seller doesn't want to pull tires. 215's are too small on a 8.5" rim

Even though we aren't in a high water table area (supposedly), I don't think the grading has been done properly in my backyard or my neighbors, causing pooling of water. It's like a sauna for mosquitos and ticks back there.

BBS.... Good luck with these, man. You could always buy the set, swap tires and then try to sell the current 215's separately to recoup some cash.

Keep us posted on whether or not you end up sealing the deal.

Re: From a "double" to a DOUBLE

What tree are you smoking

I've seen many people go with a 215 on a 8.5 in wheel...minimal stretch. I don't really see a huge problem with that, unless you want absolutely no stretch, of course.

The tires that came mounted on my CCWs were, get this, 215s mounted on a 9.5 in wheel (fronts) and 10 in wheel (rears). Now THAT is way too much stretch.

With the new Kooks, I ended up going with 255/35s in the rear and 225/40's in the front. MUCH better fitment and I think I can still go lower without any rubbing:

My while one is gone now sold it last year, but the red one is still in the garage. It has BBS RX203's on now vs the Hartge's in the photo. Yeah reselling the 215's would be a good idea as there are plenty of kids that like the stanced look.

Wow, to own one, let alone two at one point in time, jealous doesn't even begin to describe how I feel. And you just cannot go wrong with BBS. Are you a BMWCCA member? Do you frequent any of the local BMW shows (e.g. Narragansett show n shine or BMW day/concours d'elegance at Larz Anderson)? Or are those too far away?

Bingo...post those things on stanceworks and you should get some interest.

I attend Lars about every 5 years. It's a 250 R/T. I had planned to attend The Vintage in N.C. but will be at NJMP doing a Lemons race in our **** box 95 318iS.

The white one was used to put a nice down payment on our current home, That photo is when our other one was under going a total gut/renovation. It's was a money pit, but used skills and fixed it and now it's a rental property.

That's quite the trip...for me, it's about 110 miles, round trip, so not as bad.

Genius! Hats off to you.

OK, so a few more updates. With all the rain we've been getting this entire week, the grass continues to shoot up in spots. Here are some shots I took from my upstairs:

As part of my garage "build", I decided I needed an upgrade over my first tool chest (your standard 5 drawer Craftsman Evolv unit). Using some Home Depot gift cards I received for my birthday, I picked up this bad boy:

47533622662_a324f464da_c.jpg

The cabinet is in the box with the orange Customer Order slip on it:

I must say, this thing was pretty damn well packaged:

47533623062_34da8c8bc0_c.jpg

I got this idea from another thread on here, though the specific one escapes me at the moment so I can't give credit even though credit is due. Picked this up from HF:

33709639938_2cafa111d6_c.jpg

It runs on batteries, but at least they're LEDs, so I shouldn't have to replace them all that often. To avoid putting any holes in my brand new tool chest, I mounted it with the included double-sided tape/velcro mounts:

40620500943_fba669c3bc_c.jpg

Now that I've got this setup, I plan on spending time tomorrow while "telecommuting" to switch my tools over from the Craftsman to the 40" Husky unit. I think I'll keep the Craftsman as a spare, since you can never have enough storage. I'll find stuff to put in there.

I also need to start getting things up on the shelves and off the ground so we can start parking the vehicles inside. Can't wait to get a shed, but for the time being, the tractor and snowblower will have to live in the garage.

Not sure what I saw for lighting in your garage but Costco has the Feit's on sale again at 19.99 after ten dollar instant rebate and the can be daisy chained together so the first one is the master power source.

I'm thinking if you went to Home Depot they would price match them.

Like the Husky chest, I picked up a second hand one like that for my wife so her kids stay out her tool draws, lol. They know have a small tool cart for working on their go kart and bikes.

I am such a fan of utilizing space as much as possible- especially in the garage. This thread has so many good ideas.

I also should say that I'm not sure people price match at Costco or with Costco prices, but checking out the lighting at Costco is a great idea.

Nothing special...two CFL's bulbs, as well as the single bulb in each of the garage door openers:

Lighting is definitely one thing I'd like to improve and thanks for mentioning the Feit's. I'll look into them, for sure.

Grabbing a separate chest for the wife, smart! I know some people are bullish on Husky, but I'm not a mechanic so for my level of use, I think it'll be perfect. It feels very solid and the construction looks quality to me. Love the gas shocks on the lid!

That's the goal, my friend. Give and receive! I've gotten so much inspiration and ideas reading through all the great threads on GJ that I wanted to create my own and maybe inspire someone else. At the very least, I figured some good discussion would come up with valuable input and feedback. With the contributors in this thread up to this point, pretty confident we nailed that! :rocker:

This is just one hanging in my barn, I need to hang my new US flag and my BMW flags up as well.

That's pretty damn bright! I don't belong to Costco but you can't argue with those prices. Definitely on my ToDo list!

I need to get me some automotive banners/flags to dress up my garage walls down the road. I've got some cool framed photos and a BMW service/repair sign off eBay, but haven't had time to get them up. Probably won't put them up until I've got the garage layout the way I want it.

You don't need to belong to costco I believe, you can tell the service desk at home depot and I believe they can check and match it for you. They also have the cheapest steel shelving at costco the 5 shelve 1100 pounds for each I believe, I have two S52 on one shelf.

Right when I think I'm making some progress and getting the garage cleaned up, it's more of the same...1 step forward, 2 steps back:

40620501203_15e8b175e8_c.jpg

Now, I can't really complain because all those empty boxes and styrofoam are a result of us finally receiving our new sectional and 4 new bar stools for the kitchen island (and some from my Husky tool chest, of course). My dad will be by either today or tomorrow to haul most of this **** off and toss them in the dumpsters at his work.

We were having some difficulty in finding a sectional that checked off all our boxes (right color, comfort, size and layout) in the local stores, so we took a chance and ended up ordering one that we really liked from Wayfair.com. I must say, they packaged it very well, considering the awkward size/shapes:

47533690062_15746e348c_c.jpg

After setting up the sectional, I came across this and wanted to cry a little:

40620501543_0d845375d6_z.jpg

Apparently, I had forgotten to put felt pads on the legs for the middle section. So while we were doing our best to not drag the sections to their respective locations in the living room, some dragging was inevitable.
I'll fix the scratches so they're at least less noticeable, so not the end of the world.

And just because, some more shots of the CCWs with their new rubber:

32644129287_b90ed95183_c.jpg

Yes, I know, the front needs to come down a bit more. I just wanted to make sure there was no rubbing with the new setup before I started tweaking the ride height. Rears look good to me, so I'll probably leave those alone for the time being. Can't go too low, though, as the entrance to my driveway is pretty steep.

Seeing as I work from home on Wednesdays & Fridays, I can sometimes slip outside (or in the garage) to get some house "work" done. Got the mailbox all setup, with some necessary "customization" on my part. Of course the mailbox wouldn't sit flush on the mounting bracket, so with the help of my sawzall and dremel, I was able to cut away some of the bracket so help the mailbox sit lower.

It's still not perfect, but I don't want to cut too deep and ruin the integrity of the bracket, so it's as good as it's going to be. I think it matches the house and stone wall nicely:

Looks great. Congrats on the new home.

I went through a lot of the things you're going through also. I found when I bought a shed for yard equipment and storage, it made it easier to get my garage back.

Grass looks like its coming in good. Love the wall also.

That looks great! Nice work.

Thank you!

Thank you very much!

Yes, a shed really does make all the difference. I was contemplating buying a 2nd one at my last house, before we decided to sell it. Now, I'm counting down the days until we get a shed here. Probably won't do anything until next year, so my garage will serve double-duty until that time.

Continues to shoot up, I'm loving it! I put down a high Nitrogen content-fertilizer this past weekend, so that should help out now that the fertilizer from the hydroseed is all but used up at this point.

All this lawn care and watering has me contemplating a sprinkler system. Would really make my life easier, but I have absolutely no idea what that would cost. Might look into later this summer and get a quote or two, just so I have an idea moving forward.

Hoping to spend some quality time in the garage today after work, so I may have some progress photos to share in a day or two.

Ended up taking a day out of work yesterday and was able to dedicate a good chunk of my morning/afternoon to decluttering and reorganizing the garage. Still have a ways to go, but here are some progress shots:

Its coming along well. Under-stair storage is key. I barely have no room under mine but yet i have my jack and a couple pairs of garage shoes stuffed under there.

Agreed...just need to figure out how to best maximize it. Right now, both my jacks, all 4 of my jackstands, and my rhino ramps fit under there with plenty of room to spare. I guess I'll start with that and if I find anything else that could be housed there, I'll relocate it.

convert at least 1 door to a high lift/torsion spring , then you will have more clearance for a lift

Yup, that would be the plan once this becomes reality! But I'm a ways off from that. Sighhhhh

Spent a few hours Saturday morning clearing some more junk out of the garage before my buddy came by to help me remove the Clutch Delay Valve from my car. Was able to get a few boxes down into the basement and some of the items that will be staying in the garage either up against the walls or onto shelves.

My main goal was to make room for my BMW so we could get it jacked up for the CDV removal and she's been sleeping in there since. I think a few more hours and we'll be able to get the Jeep in the garage, as well, and start to use the garage normally.

No photos yet, but I should be able to take some later today or tomorrow. I'll be in touch, fellas.
