A few days later than I thought, but some progress has finally been made. My dad came over this afternoon so we could pick up his new TV and get myself a grill, so I took full advantage of the extra set of hands and put him to work. We carried some of the bulkier items down into the basement and cleared out my wife's side of the garage a bit more.

Big box in the middle will be gone in a few days, once my dad comes back for the next dumpster haul:

Yard sale score from earlier today, the childrens bicycle trailer, a whopping $5!!!:

The fridge still needs to be relocated to the basement, but at least it's out of the way. Additionally, the bicycles need to be mounted on the wall(s), but I'm still thinking out exactly where and how I'd like to accomplish this. Open to suggestions...:

The white hutch also needs to be relocated to the basement:

Went to the beach with the wife on Thursday, so these chairs are going back down to the basement (notice a recurring theme here?!):

The daily drivers:

My wife has a baby shower tomorrow afternoon and so my son will be spending a few hours with nana and papa, so I'll have a few more hours to myself to attack the garage. I'm hoping to get both vehicles inside by the end of the long weekend!

On that note, Happy Memorial Day to you all. Cheers!

Nice garage, put up a yard shed for all the yard tools and save yourself some room in the garage.

Yup, you may have missed it but I mentioned in a previous post that I'll probably go with a shed next year. We want a fence for the dog and there just won't be enough money to go around for a shed, unfortunately.

man, those ceilings look especially tall. Whats the overall height?

Not exactly sure, but a little over 12', I believe. Definitely opens up the possibility of ceiling-mounted storage down the road, should the need ever arise.

As previously mentioned, I had most of the afternoon to myself. And other than a 30 minute visit from a buddy (who rode over on his Honda Ruckus) who brought over a few beers, I was super productive. Managed to wash my car, hang some decor in the garage and move a bunch of items to the basement, with the help of my tractor & dump cart! Work smarter, not harder.

And now for the evidence:

I want the frames to match, so I'll be replacing the unmatted (is that a word?!) frame with a matted 18x24 frame in the near future:

Towel rack (thanks to Dubber for the idea!), custom 'Bimmah' repair license plate sign (yes, I know it's misspelled but it was a gift from the wife and it's still badass), and plastic bag holder all mounted. A bit of reorg done with just the jacks, jackstandss, ramps and wheel chocks now located under the steps:

Very nice. My garage is similar in size and shape so I'll be following along to "borrow ideas".

All ideas are copywritten and trademarked by me! Ha, I kid, I kid. would love to have you along for the ride!

While enjoying those aforementioned beers with my buddy the other day, one of the items we discussed was where to mount my birthday gift from my wife (I discovered the sign from a fellow BMW-fanatic here on GJ, so here's to you!!).

After some back and forth, I decided to put it directly above the side door in the garage. And since I (conveniently) worked from home today, I was able to "find some time" to get this bad boy up:

I think the sign looks legit and really adds to the look and feel I'm going for with my garage/work area. Very happy with the quality, too!

Looking good! The sign fits great above the door there, I like it. I apologize if you already said it, but any plans to paint in there?

Thank you very much!

I think eventually, yeah, I could see myself painting the garage. But probably not until next year, as I still have plenty to keep me busy with the house and yard coming in and all. But as you can probably tell by the photos, the painters did a pretty shoddy job in the garage, with a really light, single coat. They get a pass, however, as the interior of the house was very well done.

Any suggestions on color(s)? Right off the top of my head, I could see maybe doing a light to medium grey.

I'm partial to the light gray upper and dark gray lower. That's what I went with in my garage, and I am happy with the choice.

Pardon the mess, this is right after the lift went in:

Now I remember your build! I just went through most of it very recently...LOVE what you've done with your space. Looks fantastic.

I do like the two-tone gray. Thanks for the suggestion.

Get any prints done?

Not yet but hoping to pick out a few this week and get those sent out for printing. Thanks, again!

Got any photos of the prints that you framed anywhere? Would like to see how you arranged them.

They are in our storage awaiting me getting my drywall work done. I did metal frames at the craftshop on Hanscom AFB.

Ahhh, gotcha. I can't wait to get some of these up. My BMW buddies at work are going to be jealous when they see them!

I like that sign, it looks awfully familiar.

This looks like a great upgrade from the original garage! I'm sure you're dying to start a few new projects. I noticed the trash barrels instantly, since my parents live in the same town.

Good eye!

VR4, huh? I'm going to assume 3000GT, but wouldn't be surprised if you were to say Galant. Love those old school Galant VR4's.

Are you from my town or is that just where your parents live now?

You would assume correct. Huge 3000GT fan! The Galant VR4's are a blast as well.

You may have seen me around, I had a black 3000GT VR4. I grew up in the area, my parents moved to your town in 08' ( right across the street from touisset )

I like the BMW sign too :) good placement. I bought a dealership sign a while back I'll attach a picture here. First time adding a picture though, so I'm not sure if it will be visible or not.

My old man has a '95 3000GT, albeit, an SL. It's his baby.

Yeah I think I do remember seeing that car...you don't see many VR4's, so they usually stand out. Though not as rare as the VR4 Spyder. I think I've seen maybe 3 in person in my entire life.

Thanks! Your photo didn't work. I was having issues with hosting photos on google photos, as well. Try flickr or photobucket, much better.

Let me apologize for the lack of updates lately, just been so busy with family obligations on the weekends. Hardly have any time to myself, let alone any time to spend in the garage or in the yard.

That said, I was able to finish one small project of mine. About a month ago, my wife had accidentally left our patio umbrella open. Well, the following day ended up being really windy. And our patio tabletop was (yes, was...) made out of glass. I'm sure you can all see where I'm going with this.

Needless to say, we needed a replacement for the tabletop. Not wanting to fork over the money for a replacement glass top, my wife took to Pinterest to get some alternative ideas. She came across one that involved using cedar fence boards instead of glass. Considering the all-in price (boards, stain and brackets) ran me about $80 or $90, I'm very happy with how it came out:

32644206247_90ab207918_c.jpg

Not many more updates at this time, other than part of my Father's Day gift from my mother, who is well aware of my fondness for good beer:

40620650433_20602beb28_z.jpg

I already have a bottle opener installed on one of the deck posts, so this will either go under the deck (for my future cigar lounge) or in the basement.

I'll take some photos later of the lawn. It's growing in pretty decently in some areas, but I'm afraid that we're nearing the tough part of the summer where the constant heat and sun will just burn out the areas that haven't quite grown in yet. Once I accept the fact that my lawn won't be perfect this summer and that I'll have to work at it to turn it around for next year, the better off I'll be.

We also sent in the deposit for a fence for our backyard. Very much looking forward to this for several reasons, but mainly for the dog. It's going to be nice to open the slider and let him run out back and burn off some energy. We've been promising him a fence for years now and now that we're at our "forever" home, we bit the bullet.

We're going with a combo, that is, 6 foot vinyl fence for privacy along the sides of the backyard, then where the grass abuts the woods/treeline, we're switching to a 5 foot brown chain link (to save on cost since we don't need privacy from the trees) and the brown color will help blend the chain link with the trees.

I'll photograph (and maybe time-lapse) the progress and document it all here.

Love the street gas. Really wish we had it where I live, our other house has it. Table is great but your gonna have to get the hole saw out for an umbrella.

I have been looking at street alerts for a table and chair set nearby. We decided for the pool deck to use a sail and next year we are going to build a pergola.

Western Mass is in the midst of a drought after having no reak snow this year so water restrictions are everywhere.
