Yep. Often someone sponsors the beer garden. I haven't looked this year but Spatan has sponsored it prior. And since no DE's at this Ofest, it can be later nights!!!
Look for the Road Monkey's and you'll find my group.

DE's??

Man, I really need to get down there this year, don't I?!

About half our group rolling through Arkansas on our way to the New Orleans Ofest two years ago. Yes, you shouldn’t need to go through Arkansas to get from Houston to New Orleans but who doesn’t love a road trip!!!

Driving events, and yes... yes you do.

I'll see what I can do. Ideally I'd find a buddy to tag along with me and head down so I'm not traveling alone. Worst case, I did travel for work for like 4 years so I'm very used to traveling solo.

OK you were all right and my OCD got the best of me. I went ahead and replaced the ///M decals on my wheels. In my defense, I was planning to install a set of 12.5mm spacers on my front wheels, anyway.

While doing so, I also lined up the center caps on all 4 wheels to match up with the ///M decals. I cleaned up the rust on the face of each hub and applied a small amount of automotive grease to prevent the wheels from fusing/getting stuck the next time I try to remove them.

Tough to tell from the angle in the photos, but the front wheels are now almost flush with the front fenders, so a much better look than before.

To complete the look of the wheels, which look legit brand new having been powder coated fairly recently, next up are new lug bolts for the rear wheels (the spacers came with brand new extended lugs) and new center caps all around. And I still need to mount the Ventus V12 Evo 2 tires I have had laying around in the garage for over a month now.

I know it's not my thread, nor my car, but thank you for that. Lol! Much better now!!

And I like how it's sitting now with the spacers.

[emoji1787] I get it, trust me!

Thanks! As do I. And the wheel gap looks excessive because I had just lowered the jack and the car hadn’t settled yet. But I will end up, at some point, installing coil overs so I can lower the car just enough to eliminate wheel gap.

Hey @mpower5266, finally swapped out my Dialed Co. watch band:

48037911052_c885c987b2_c.jpg

Before I dive in, a belated Happy Father's Day to all you dads!

Couple of minor updates:

Our house faces due north. So every morning, the sun shine comes pouring through the window and what car is parked right near the window? The M3, of course.

I figured in order to help prevent any further fading/UV damage, I'll add blinds to my garage window. Timing worked out well as my wife was planning to swap out the blinds in our master bathroom, anyway, so I took those blinds and put them up in the garage. Tough to tell in the photos but they do block most of the sun:

Also removed the sun visor warning labels/stickers:

And for the first time since owning both cars, they're both clean. At the same time. Unreal!

One last thing, check out my son's t-shirt. Top-left and bottom-center sure look like some sort of E30/E28 BMW to me! Pretty cool!

Loving the watch. What was your process for removing the labels, I want to do that on my wagon.

Easiest thing I've found is to remove the visors. Soak paper towels in rubbing/isopropyl alcohol and lay the paper towels on the labels for 20 minutes or so, give or take. Then start at one corner and you should be able to easily peel the label back. May even come off in one shot.

Ill have to give that a shot. Maybe my steamer will help. Im on a steamer kick. Haha.

Really nice example of an E46M3! You got a good one.
Hard to find the nice ones these days.
You are making me miss the ones I had.

Have you thought of painting your entry stairs from the garage to the house in a dark gray? I think it would tie all of it together. I like your cabinet layout too.

Thanks, man! The paint really does have a bunch of imperfections, swirl marks aside, and some tiny spots of rust here and there. It's far from perfect, but shouldn't be anything that can't be addressed with time and money. It drives damn well!!

And yes, you're right. This one took me a while to find. So much **** out there for sale. And tons of SMGs, which I had no interest in.

I hadn't thought of going dark gray, but now you've got me thinking....

I was going to do something like this, initially:

With the dark grey, are you proposing I paint everything but the actual steps dark grey? Or everything? Or less? Curious to hear what you're envisioning because I am definitely open to suggestion.

The 03.5 slick top I had was the best driver car... dare I say... I've ever had. It had the 18" wheels, Conti tires and very predictable to drive. Everything on the car was stock.
The 04 I had a few years after, didn't come close to driving the same. Even with 19" wheels, sticky tires, KW Coil overs, negative camber and it still wanted to push the front in the corners.

As with the stairs, maybe a dark gray uprights with black steps, landing and handrail? It would match your cabinets very well. That's just how I saw them blending in after seeing how well your cabinets looked. IMO the white is too much.

Ha, fair enough! My car has the 19" Comp wheels with Conti tires, but switching over to the Hankooks probably next week. I agree about being the best drivers car, and I haven't even pushed it yet.

I like where your head is at. Thanks for the suggestion. Might check to see if I can find something similar on Pinterest or something. I'm a very visual person and typically need to see real examples before I can commit to anything.

I really need to lower the M3 just a tiny bit. It'll honestly make such a big difference eliminating that wheel gap and helping the 19" ZCP wheels really fill up the wheel-wells:

48110947252_e89c3a75da_c.jpg

Brought the M3 to a local Rides & Coffee last Sunday. Rode in with my buddy and his clean '99 Civic Si (EM1):

Cool shot that my photog buddy took with his Nikon and lightly touched up with Lightroom (not sure on the Nikon model or what lens/settings he used):

I didn't take many photos, but there were a few standouts present:

On the garage front, one tiny update. I had recently borrowed a label maker from a buddy at work and finally got around to putting the labels up so I'd remember what each towel was used for:

A fellow BMW CCA member came over yesterday morning to drop off some items he had left over after selling his E46 M3. We caught up for a bit then went for a ride in his 2016 M2 6MT. Sorry, he went for the ride, I DROVE! :bounce:

The M2 had an aftermarket short shift kit and was a blast to drive. I actually liked the rev match on downshifts. Such a sick color, too! Needless to say, I will own an M2 at some point in my life. Once the kids are older and 4 doors isn't as important, I suppose. :lol_hitti

48143662366_59184be443_c.jpg

Tomorrow morning my neighbor and I leave for Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville,CT for the Barrett Jackson Northeast show. I've gone the last few years, but my neighbor was able to score some passes from his wife's cousin (who works for the marketing dept at the casino).

These passes let us access the auction block (so I could legit bid on a car if I wanted to, but I assure you, that won't be happening), go behind the scenes, access a special area near the auction that is supplied non-stop with food and drink (at no cost) and like 8 free adult beverages from other bars on top of that. Needless to say, I'm pretty damn pumped!!

I should have tons of photos to share. On top of that, my wife and his wife are driving to the casino a bit later in the morning to do girly spa stuff while us boys to car guy stuff. Then we'll meet up for dinner in the evening and stay the night. Should be a great weekend!

Cheers, folks!

I should have bought an e46 M3.

But you got yourself a damn cool wagon! Sorry, estate car. Damn Brits! [emoji1787]

Turn that into an M3 touring and you’ll forget all about the E46. [emoji41]

Been quite a few E46 Touring conversions to M3. The styling is fantastic. Granted the E91 sport is equally a nice ride but a bit cush, perfect for trips!

Few minor updates on the M3. I swapped out my busted driver door sill for a replacement that I picked up in CT on my way to the Barrett Jackson show. The little things sure do make a big difference.

Before and after:

I also sent out my leaking rear-view mirror to http://www.radar-mirror.com/ to be rebuilt. For the extra $20, I opted for the lifetime warranty. For the peace of mind, it was worth it for me, as I plan on having this car or a long time and would rather avoid spending another $99 if and when the mirror leaks again down the road.

The rebuilt mirror arrived earlier this week, looking good as new:

What else...um, I treated my imola red leather interior with the Leatherique two-step system. Let me say, it was well worth the time and effort. Here is a before/after of the front seats for comparison sake. Tough to really get the full picture just from these photos, but the feel and look of the leather in person is much improved. All that nasty sweat and dirt has been removed and the leather looks and feels much more rejuvenated:

Before

After

I also tried my hand at restoring the faded red seat belt buckle release buttons, based on a recent Ammo NYC video I watched. This is done using a heat gun with a reducing tip to direct the heat better. Unfortunately, the Harbor Freight heat gun accessory kit I purchased didn't have a narrow enough tip for me to get the same results as the video, but for me, it's way better than before and a significant improvement. Here are comparison photos:

48237639812_87feba4f56_c.jpg

48237639817_aeb4db28bd_c.jpg

For anyone interested in this process, it begins at the 3:28 mark of this video:

My car didn't come with the owner's manual or any of the other brochures and what not. So I found a complete set (granted, from a 2002) on eBay for a good price and this is what it came with:

48276754897_a7fbfa07e4_c.jpg

I'll probably eventually look for a 2005-specific set, but this will do, for now.

And to wrap this up, here are some photos I took of my car at Target on Tuesday while running errands.

Have I mentioned how much I love this car?!

Nice! Glad to see you're enjoying your time with the new ride. I can totally see the difference in the seats, great work :) It's those little things like restoring the seat belt buttons that nobody else will notice but you that makes you appreciate the car all that more.

P.S. I've thoroughly been enjoying my TV in the garage as you said I would! It's great background noise/company out there. Last few weekends I've had the Sox game on out there while taking care of some odds and ends.

Precisely man, you nailed it! And while the seat belt buttons aren't perfect, it's a minor upgrade that makes ME feel better!

 Ha! I'm glad you're enjoying the TV in the garage. That makes me happy. I recently switched over to YouTubeTV from PS Vue, so I still need to get a Roku for my garage TV so I can continue watching the Sox out there, myself. But it's been great watching YouTube videos or listening to Spotify.

Swapped out the now sloppy factory shifter for a BMW Performance shifter. Replaced the worn out and cracked shifter cup, as well. Took it for a quick spin before the 100 degree heat hit yesterday and happy to report that the shifter now sits a bit lower than before (you can see the difference in length below) and the throws are definitely shorter and the sloppy play has been all but removed with this upgrade. Very happy with this modification:

Thanks man!

OK so I am OCD when it comes to certain things, but that ain't one of them. Literally nobody will ever seen inside of that. That said, the next time I do an interior detail I may take the 45 seconds necessary to open it up and vacuum that out quick. But I also may not!

was the old shifter rod supposed to be bent?

Yep
