I mounted the stainless steel shelves and test fit some products. Pretty happy with the turnout:

Oh and the M3 is officially ready for her suspension overhaul:

Best of luck. I would add to your next order jack stands with flat bottoms. That way you won't need to remove sections of the floor.

/\ The most expensive option lol. But one i also want to check off the list.

Or get a two post lift. There's always a more expensive option lol!
But, in your case, since you are more detail than wrenching oriented, I think a Quickjack is the way to go.

I don't have the height for a 2 post or the width for a post. Also don't have the wrenching skills (yet) to warrant a full lift, as I'd also want a 4 post for storage of more cars :)

Supposed to be warm all week... Better work fast!

After that, paint the foundation stem wall or redo the stairs and railing to the house? It’s fun to point it out when it’s not your project.

Or just get yourself a quickjack system :) So much easier to lift all four wheels off the ground.

Now you're talking! But I need to slow the spending down or my wife might smother me in my sleep. :lol_hitti

But in all seriousness, once my 3rd stall addition is in place, an ideal scenario would have a 4 post lift in that 3rd still (mainly for storing 2 vehicles) and the middle stall (where the M3 is parked) would have a quick jack system in place. One day, perhaps...

/\ The most expensive option lol. But one i also want to check off the list.

Ha, you and me, both! It's always a blast spending other people's money!

Or get a two post lift. There's always a more expensive option lol!

Yeah, I don't foresee a 2 post lift in my future. Like you said, I'm less of a wrencher.

Or a 2 post lift....

I'm sensing a theme here.

Luckily that is one thing I do have. And yes, I'd love to enhance my wrenching skills. I've considered taking classes to become better at working on my own cars.

And yep, love where your head is at. 4 post lift for more storage = ideal scenario!

Supposed to be warm all week... Better work fast!

That's the goal! Haha, slow your roll. The stem wall doesn't bother me, so doubt I'll ever touch that. That said, what color would you suggest so I can try and get a better sense of how it would look?

Staircase to the house is the next project after the suspension is on. Stay tuned.

Well it took a while, but I am glad to say i made it to the end. Starting from the beginning of your thread today i see how you have came a long way in a short time. I am in a similar situation in we are scheduled to move into our house this week. We did get to design the whole thing though. Glad to hear the builder stood behind his work and fixed the issues you had, ***** to have to deal with it, but could've been worse i guess. Personally i would've kept the raptor, but i am partial to trucks as currently i have 4(taking two to make one, but nonetheless) :D I like the results you have with ONR and beadmaker, looking to purchase some soon. I will have hot and cold water in the garage, just need to find a good hose reel. I plan to install polyurea on the floor before moving in. After seeing yours and dubbers i almost wish i would've done the tiles as it does look sharp, but cost $$$. Yard is coming in great for a hydro seed. I think we are going to do sod in the front and seed the back. Crossing my fingers the yard turns out this year, today there digging a hole so they can fix the water shutoff, luckily this happened before the sod went down.

I know I am missing some things as your thread has gone into great detail, but keep up the good work. I might have to borrow some ideas from you. Come stop by check out my thread, and I hope to be more active on mine soon :bounce:

 Well now, thank you very much for the kind words! It's a great feeling to be able to be a source of inspiration or help for others. That's what I love about this forum. Unlike most car forums, most of the people here are rooting for each other and genuinely interested in what everyone else has to offer.

My 4 year old, almost weekly, tells me to buy another Raptor. Cracks me up every time. But he did tell me the other day he's excited to go for a drive in my M3 in his "special" new (used) car seat. Needless to say, that was a proud dad moment.

And I will most definitely check out your thread(s)! Best of luck with the yard, as I can completely relate. That was my biggest paint point. An irrigation system and a lawn care company were game changing. Take care!

FINALLY had some free time to start the suspension over the weekend. My neighbor let me borrow his Milwaukee M18 Fuel impact driver, as my smaller 20v Porter Cable impact wasn't cutting it, as well as his Snap-On pry bars. This was my first time ever doing suspension work on my own, but with the help of YouTube and some DIY threads I found on various BMW forums, I plugged away.

Old vs New

Reinforcement plates installed in the rear:

And now all assembled:

New end links:

49666058347_6223e62491_c.jpg

And as luck would have it, because just about anything I do that involves my cars, it can never be straightforward and I always run into a snafu. This time, that snafu ended up being the LAST bolt I needed to tighten up to be 100% done. The rear, driver-side bottom shock mount where the shock bolts to the trailing arm. I ended up getting a little too M18 Fuel impact driver happy and ended up stripping the threads on the bolt:

49666058327_3b16d568bf_z.jpg

I'm hoping the threads on the trailing arm itself are salvageable (they look ok), but won't know until I get a new bolt (already have an email out to the local BMW dealer to see if they have one in stock).

If the threads on the trailing arm are jacked, then I'm going to try to either retap the threads or try helicoil, because a new trailing arm is going to run me around $700 (FML). So I'm clearly going to exhaust ALL my options before dropping that kind of dough. I've never tapped threads or used helicoil before, so this will all be a learning experience for me.

Also, check out this keyhole delete I ordered for my driver door. It's an OEM part that my buddy painted for me at no charge (he's done lots of side work for me in the past, and I've always taken care of him):

49665856836_8cb77b970c_c.jpg

Next up for the M3 are spacers (15mm front and 12mm rear). Hopefully get to that tonight. Then once the suspension is 100% done, I'll revert my attention back to the interior and swap in all the new pieces I have sitting on my workbench.

Then after that, probably wire in the Angel Eyes. Lots do to, so little time.

Cheers and stay safe out there!

Well done! Like we discussed earlier, this is another situation where improving one thing certainly makes other things stick out. brakes could use a refresh :) Even simply buying a dupli colour painting kit for under $20 you could make them look brand new!

They make several colours, and i've done Red, Silver and Blue thus far.

Here's after i did my GLI:

Yep, that thought has already crossed my mind! Thinking black or silver could go a long way in freshening up the brakes. Guess I'll add it to the never-ending list.

It's a weekend car. Go all in if you are addressing the brakes. I'll just leave this here. :bounce:

All in due time!! Brake upgrades are certainly on the list, but if you'd like to contribute to my "car parts fund", I can certainly expedite the purchase!

I completely forgot to post the finished product (actually I think I had, but now wondering if my update didn't save properly). Regardless, here it is (again?!). I think I need to lower the rear just a bit and bring the front up a bit, and probably adjust the camber up front, as well. But man, what a night and day difference:

49673230273_b7fdaed07b_c.jpg

49671257306_b8c176068c_c.jpg

Spacers making a huge difference. Rears are nearly flush and the fronts should be close once I adjust height & camber:

49671532972_4b41a200aa_z.jpg

49671245661_1ca5412da3_z.jpg

Fresh, new (OEM) center caps make a big difference (disregard the wheel orientation):

Also installed my keyhole delete that an auto shop buddy of mine painted for me at no charge (he also gave me a small bottle of paint to touch up the many rock chips). Before and after shots. And yes, I realize the newly painted delete doesn't match the 15 year old paint perfectly. But honestly, other than me and anyone I explicitly tell about the delete will really notice. So I'm not too worried about it.

Love the keyhole delete mod. It’s definitely the small things that make a big difference.

Cool birthday gift from my wife (the band, not the watch!):

49690006723_013b9a5bb8_c.jpg

Also trying to finish the interior refresh on the M3, but before I do that, I need to decide on a better bluetooth streaming option. Currently, I have the following setup:

BMW Glove Box Black Flashlight Auxiliary Power Adapter
s-l500.jpg

2 in 1 USB Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter/Receiver
s-l1600.jpg

And a flush mount USB charger.

The main issue with this setup is that the flashlight isn't switched, so it's always on. So if I was to run to the store with the M3 and connected to bluetooth, I shut the car off and run into the store. All this time, the bluetooth receiver is still on and trying to maintain connection with my phone. But I found that when returning to the car, more times than not, my phone wouldn't be able to reconnect to the device. And any sort of toggling bluetooth on/off or forgetting the bluetooth device and reconnecting to it typically wouldn't work. I found that unplugging the USB charger that powers the bluetooth device would sometimes fix the issue.

Needless to say, I've had enough of that. And I don't want to go the route of aftermarket stereos. I know they've got some really nice OEM-looking options (Dynavin comes to mind), I just don't feel like spending that kind of money and don't want to switch from my current single DIN setup.

After some research on various BMW forums, I've settled on the following solution which checks off two boxes for me: 1) affordable and 2) well reviewed:

s-l500.jpg

s-l500.jpg

Should arrive by Thursday, and shouldn't take long to install (famous last words), so hopefully I can start swapping in all the new interior pieces Friday and get the car finished up so I can take it for a test drive down the road to see how the suspension feels. I need to ensure I can get up/down my steep driveway without scraping. With my lowered E90, I had to come in at a decent angle but would never scrape as long as I did so. I think I'll be OK with the M3!

From a "double" to a DOUBLE

Amidst all the bad news we've been hearing nonstop, I got some pretty good/cool news this morning in my email. The BMW CCA recently advertised this contest (you may recognize the garage/cars in the advertised photo...props to Mpower5266 ).

So I threw the #BMWCCAGarageGoals hashtag up on one of my IG photos and alas, got this message today:

49701343436_d8cc0bb944_b.jpg

Pretty pumped about this, for sure!

This is the photo they selected:

Cool!
Damn this quarantine. I've wanted a BMW ever since I can remember, and the same goes for my own garage. I've got neither. Damn this quarantine :lol_hitti:lol_hitti:lol_hitti

Enjoy the beautiful space you've created, and that gorgeous car! (Oh, the beer. That I DO have :lol_hitti)

Haha, sorry man!! You're welcome to come hang out in mine and help me with my BMW when this pandemic is over!

Congrats on winning!!! That's awesome.

Thanks dude!

Congrats man.

Thanks man!

Here is a link to the article on Bimmerlife.com.

And here is the IG post from the official BMW CCA instagram account.

Lastly, the bluetooth module for the M3 arrived today, so I'm going to try and get in the garage tonight after my youngest goes to bed tonight and get that installed and finally swap out all the center console pieces sitting on my workbench.

Oh, I almost forgot. I got the angel eye's installed. Still need to hide/clean up the wiring, but here is a sneak peek from some awful photos I took on my iPhone:

And lastly, can anyone tell me what this white corner piece (highlighted in red below) is actually called? I've messed up two of the corners with my weed wacker, so I'd like to replace them but not sure what I'm looking for.
