Saw it on the gram already, but MAAAAN That carbon looks GOOOOOD!!!

 Thanks, man!!

There is no PPI dress up kit from the factory as an option or it was to outrageously priced vs aftermarket. That looks like a quality made piece, Taiwan does alot of carbon fiber work, most bicycles now come out of Taiwan being either high end composites or aluminium.

PPI?? I always thought that stood for Pre-Purchase Inspection. What's the other meaning I'm missing?

Yeah, it's very quality. Very solid, great-looking weave. Well-constructed and I'm very happy with my purchase!

Lots of boring work being done in the basement, so not much to show yet. But we do have some molding and doors up:

The flooring actually just arrived about an hour ago, so that's exciting. Things are really starting to come together!

I am obsessed with this color:

Oh and I finally got around to doing something I had been meaning to do for far too long. I used some self-tapping screws to hold the damn cup/bottle holders from popping out constantly on my Griot's stool:

Totally off-topic (movement on the garage front has been slow), but for any of you craft beer fans, I just got back from a trip to the Burlington/Stowe Vermont area and this is what I came home with:

As a result, here is how my beer fridge currently sits:

At least I'll have plenty to drink while I resume cleaning up the garage and basement.
Sorry to bump an old post but I had to when I saw The Alchemist beer, thats my uncles brewery

You probably saved a considerable sum vs oem anyway. Hope the you had a good Turkey day. You having flooding today, my yard is showing it's poor drainage areas lol.

Oh and it is a great color, would love to see that on an E36. Will have to settle for an Avus Blue as I like the dark vs Estoril.

Thank you to your Uncle!
My friends make an annual pilgrimage.

And yes that color is amazing. The carbon accents look great.

Basement is coming out great.

The comments have me thinking about hardwiring Cat6 instead of just WiFi mesh in the house.

Tell your uncle I said "thank you for all he/they do there"!! I haven't been back to VT in a few years now, but hopefully once this COVID ******** is behind us. Still one of my favorite breweries, but the beer game in and around MA/RI is legit!!

Ahhh, gotcha! As much as the unit I went with cost, OEM doesn't have what I wanted and if they did, it would cost way more than I'd want to spend.

We did have a great Thanksgiving, thank you! Was just my parents, along with the 4 of us. So weird not having my entire mom's side of the family over their house, but it is what it is. We ended up having a Zoom with that whole side, which was great.

Hope you had a great one, as well!

As for flooding, ALWAYS. High water table and a ton of uneven/low spots in my backyard. I need to address that in the next few years. May try and level out some of the areas next summer with my tow behind roller and some topdressing.

It's similar to Estoril blue, until you see Estoril blue next to it...lol, then it's not so similar. As seen here: (Estoril on left, Portimao on right)

Avus is a nice shade of blue.

Preach!! :drink:

And thanks for the kind words, I appreciate that!

If you have the ability to hardwire, DO IT. WiFi is a luxury, but it comes at a cost (reduced speed). You always want a direct link to your internet by way of Cat6 cables. My laptop and gaming devices will all be hardwired in the basement, along with anything else that comes along (I have an 8 network switch, so I'll have a few openings left over).

Hope that helps...good luck!

Today they're here painting. The plan is for them to get the LifeProof vinyl flooring down tomorrow, and then the ceiling tiles on Monday. So we're quickly wrapping up here. Can't wait until it's done. Couch arrives Saturday and the TV is still patiently waiting in the box in the laundry room to get hung. Soon enough!

Since the M340i still isn't broken in yet (just about to hit 500 miles), I'm still taking it relatively easy when driving her. But I did manage to capture this quick clip of the intake yesterday. You can absolutely hear the turbo spooling up much better than before, and the induction noise is much improved. Can't wait until I can really push her to see how it sounds then (I'm looking at you, Launch Control!!!). Here's that clip:

Basement is coming together nicely!

Did you wire for audio too?

I have a TV wall I’m planning to tear out and property insulate and rewire. Coax, HDMI, Cat6 are a given, but audio too?
Is that a “while I’m in there” job or is wireless audio the way to go now?

Thank you!

I did...I mentioned it in one of my posts, not sure which. I ran wires for rear surround speakers, as well as two additional wires that I’ll eventually punch thru the back wall of the house for a pair of outdoor speakers. I have a speaker selector that I’ll hook up to my receiver in order to differentiate the 5.1 (maybe 5.2 if I decide to run two subs) surround from the outdoor speakers.

Anything wireless is “convenience”, just like WiFi. For the best audio experience, wired is always the way to go. [emoji1303]

Thanks! I scrolled back and found it in post #1031. I’ll follow your advice and run any wires I think I may need.

I somehow missed a series of posts on that page, including setting up the car with the child seat for dad duty. You must have every seat protector and surface covered - I’m surprised a car seat is even allowed to go in!

Thanks for the tips and keep us updated on car & house!

Ah ok, cool....glad you found it!

Hahaha...well it is my daily, so I guess the kids have to be allowed in it!! :bounce: Especially since they've been allowed in the M3. Luckily for me they love both cars!

You bet!

Love the flooring!

Mind if I ask what type of floor it is, and what the color name is? If everything goes well, my first house will be going up in a couple of months, and I'm already looking at that kind of grown-up things lol...

Figured someone might ask, so I actually included images of the boxes. So the 5th and 6th images in post #1057 will give you that exact info you're looking for!

And good luck with everything and hope it works out for you!

I picked the same flooring but in driftwood beach. Reading the reviews, some commented that it was easily scratched. Any thoughts on the durability to impact, sliding etc.?

Home Depot is the place to buy it.

My buddy has it in his basement and is very happy with the durability. I can’t speak to it because they just put it down and the basement isn’t finished yet so we aren’t spending any time down there.

Correct!

Ended up finding another of the E46 M3s at Target (they are VERY hard to find), so I unboxed one of them and had a mini photoshoot, because I'm a nerd:

Thanks, man! We're super pumped with how it's turning out and the remaining finish work is really going to help set it apart. Can't wait to show you guys the decor theme(s) we're going with...think many of you will approve!

I went ahead and swapped out the contractor grade stairway light going down into the basement, so from this:

50687318106_90f52e299a_z.jpg

to this:

50704399681_6749a7b1c9_z.jpg

It's a little bright and in your face, but I plan on adding a dimmer to the switch that controls it. I'm just glad it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb like the first fixture.

More work on the stair treads (which are getting installed as I type this) and some other access panel/trim work:

From a "double" to a DOUBLE

Stair light
That angle is tough. Dimmer is ok but then the output going down the stairs is lower.

Can you add a valance or “lip” hanging down 1 to 1-1/2” on the top side so you are not blinded? I’m probably not describing it well.
Or is there a chance to remount the box so it’s horizontal with a recessed opening?

Paint Color
That color looks great with the floor and white moldings. Is that Balboa Mist? That color is on my short list for redoing the house.

It certainly is. I'll have to confer with the electrician when he gets here to wire the basement...or reach out to one of my electrician buddies to see what my options are.

Honestly, the light isn't as blinding as I thought it was going to be. Perhaps I'm just used to it already, but it's turning into a non-issue.

As for the paint color, thank you! It's actual Sherwin Williams Agreeable Grey. It's the same color we used pretty much throughout the house. Easy and neutral enough color to work with that it works in just about any room.

The guys installed the stair treads (though they still need one last coat of poly) and started on the ceiling tiles. Hopefully the electrician can get here in the next couple of days so he can start wiring in all the boxes and allow the guys to finish the ceiling (yes, I realize the treads don't match our first floor hardwood...but we don't care...we wanted it to tie-in with the basement flooring):

I think the guys are going to start on the bathroom tile today, and pretty sure I just saw one of them pull up with our cabinets (the ones that will be going underneath the TV for media/AV/storage), so exciting stuff!

I'm know to be a bit OCD (remember when I asked if you were going to vaccum beneath the center console of the E46? :lol_hitti), and to be honest, the difference in treaads, at least from these pictures, doesn't bother me at all. Besides, there's a door. It's something you most likely won't see, unless you are looking for it.

Hahaha, oh I remember!!! :spit:

And that's exactly what I told my wife. 99% of the time, you won't even see the stair treads because the door will be closed.

Basement is looking fantastic, That's a new way to setup a mini-split, on the floor vs wall mounted. What was the reason for that? Just curious.

Now as too the HotWheels it's time for you to get uout an airbrush and make it look like yours and modify it with realistic wheels. I came across this one yesterday on facebook
img-7747_orig.jpg
32K was stretching it at nearly 100K with no real details in ad.

Thank you! Yeah, my HVAC guy gave us the option and I guess more and more people are starting to go with the floor mounted units for basements. So no real reason, but we're happy with the install and how little it actually sticks out. Won't be in the way at all!

Haha, and what, I haven't thought about doing that?! Haha, maybe one day. That M3 looks clean. Appears to be a slicktop with speedcloth, but that's an aggressive price for the mileage and no word if the big 3 items have been addressed.

Here is my own version of "M Town" that I created last night while playing with my boys:

Do you play with them with your young ones? That M is not a slicktop and yeah rod bearing/subfloor and Vanos, and valve adjustment questions were not addressed in the add.

Has panic ensued on south shore yet with storm coming this week?

I keep my collection in the packaging, but do play with their cars when they want!

Ahh, I looked quick and didn’t notice a sunroof but I also didn’t click thru all photos.

A bit, but it is what it is. We both work from home currently and my snowblower has been relocated from the shed to the garage and is ready for action!

You ready??

Forgot to take a photo of the bathroom tile, but this was installed yesterday. Grouting took place earlier today, so once the guys leave, I'll get photos of the finished product.

My wife and I moved one of the cabinets over to where it'll be located to get an idea of the fit and the size:

We're hoping to go with this butcher block counter top, stained to match the stair treads and hand rail:

The guys also put the last coat of Poly on the treads, so I'll get some photos of that once they dry up.

Sick! Are you doing a wet bar or something with the cabinets?

Nope, these are for the home theatre/living room area.

We wanted to do a wet bar but space constraints and the need for a play area for the boys nixed those plans. But once the boys are old enough where they don't need a dedicated "play area", we might revisit that portion of the basement as phase 2!! :)
